Orochimaru and Chihane reshaped Konoha, while Nagato’s Akatsuki began hunting the tailed beasts and an alien fleet attacked the village. After Chihane defeated Commander Bal, the story left him facing a rumor campaign against him and Orochimaru within Konoha.

• Orochimaru punished Uchiha Fugaku, reorganized Konoha’s administration with Chihane’s advice, and ended the clans’ feud by establishing Shikaku Nara’s Internal Affairs Department.
• Nagato expanded Akatsuki and assigned its members to capture tailed beasts, while Konoha conquered the Land of Fire and Orochimaru became its daimyo.
• Orochimaru delayed Konoha’s attack on Akatsuki and planned a Five Kage Summit after Nagato captured the Eight-Tails, while Jiraiya set out to speak with Nagato.
• Chihane discovered Commander Bal’s alien fleet approaching Konoha, helped evacuate the civilians, and attacked the Command Ship as Orochimaru confronted the invaders.
• Chihane and Konoha’s forces fought Bal and the Four-Armed Race, and Chihane used his Asura form to kill Bal and end the battle.
• Chihane’s victory halted Akatsuki’s operations, and Orochimaru began studying the captured ships before discussing the Dragon Vein as a possible power source.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi’s apparent inaction accompanied rumors blaming Chihane and Orochimaru for provoking the other villages, and villagers defiled Chihane’s home as his friends tried to defend him.
