Background / History
El has transmigrated into Douluo Continent twice. During his first arrival, he became the Radiant Dragon King—the Dragon God’s younger brother, born of the same mother, and the ancestor of lesser dragons. His lineage also became the bloodline origin of the Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon 1 15.
Among the dragons, he served as the first elder of criminal law and held a position likened to a prince and grand general beneath the Dragon God. True dragons and lesser dragons regarded meeting him as an honor. He also introduced nine thousand years of compulsory education among the dragons 15 54 60.
El died in the Dragon-Phoenix War after fighting the phoenix clan’s fire, lightning, ice, and water God Kings. Although he supported the establishment of the Divine Dragon Realm, he died before its founding and never witnessed either its prosperity or its collapse 13 15 82.
His second life began in a cocoon at the Lake of Life. Di Tian initially mistook him for an unknown hatchling, while the Silver Dragon King recognized him as Huang. El recovered enough memories to identify his former self, but his knowledge of the later divine conflicts remained incomplete 1 13.
During the six years after his emergence, his only journey outside the Star Dou Great Forest was an infiltration of the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion with Di Tian to establish the timeline. He subsequently adopted the identity of a secluded family’s heir and presented Huo Yutong as his distant cousin 3 4.
Appearance
- Humanlike form: Initially resembles a six- or seven-year-old child. Later descriptions identify him as a beautiful black-haired, red-eyed boy 1 32.
- Dragon eyes: His eyes become patterned orange-gold pupils with narrow slits when his draconic nature surfaces 1 18.
- Alatreon possession: Dark-purple, iridescent scales point upward in the reverse direction of ordinary dragon scales. Possession increases his height and musculature and produces layered dragon horns 1 5.
- Xeno’jiiva possession: Translucent deep-blue scales and wings initially appear soft and wet; the scales later develop a clear, crystal-like texture 1 59.
- Flame Alatreon Aspect: Lava-like markings spread across his dark-purple scales, with intense heat escaping through their gaps 94.
Personality
El is theatrical, irreverent, and openly proud of his strength. He prepares impressive speeches, enjoys public attention, and deliberately explains techniques during combat. Shrek’s administrators recognize his fondness for showing off and arrange the Freshman Assessment to give him a prominent stage 3 27 33.
His confidence coexists with practical caution. He fears coordinated divine retaliation more than a duel with Tang San, postpones action against the Blue Silver Emperor until he expects god-level combat power, and initially refuses to approach Dragon Valley before godhood 13 16 67.
El is protective of people he considers his own. He confronts Zhou Yi for insulting Huo Yutong, reassures Huo after discovering Heaven’s Will’s interference, and prefers not to use destruction power against allies unless punishment is necessary. He also avoids lying to his own people except over matters as serious as life and death 24 48 54 67.
His former severity remains visible beneath his playful behavior. He regards branding Zhou Yi with an Enslavement Mark and leaving her at roughly Soul Ancestor cultivation as lenient compared with the punishments he would once have imposed. In combat, he particularly enjoys direct exchanges of strength rather than evasive fighting 31 92.
As a planner, El favors broad objectives and adjusts intermediate steps as events unfold. His manipulative cover stories and calculated favors are intended to secure useful allies and access to the Golden Tree 4 6 57.
Abilities & Skills
Alatreon Martial Soul
Alatreon is a Dragon King-level true-dragon martial soul controlling ultimate ice, fire, water, and lightning, alongside destruction-associated Dragon Element 1 5.
- Elemental control: Gathers nearby natural elements into attacks, including a giant lightning hand and an ice-water bow 47 95.
- Physical reinforcement: Provides dragon claws, wings, protective scales, and enough strength to stop Xiao Xiao’s cauldron with one hand 47 48.
- Elemental aspects: Can manifest a flame-focused form with lava-like markings and extreme heat 94.
- Environmental dependence: After the surrounding natural elements are exhausted in the assessment final, replenishment requires at least ten-odd minutes, restricting his large elemental attacks 48.
Dragon Element and Destruction
Dragon Element disrupts elemental abilities by attaching its energy to a target. The target must remove or neutralize that energy before freely using affected elements again 5 27.
- Elemental sealing: Can prevent natural-element attacks and produce backlash when affected targets attempt elemental soul skills 27.
- Exceptions: Metal and earth are suppressed to varying degrees rather than completely sealed 27.
- Countermeasure: A sufficiently powerful opponent can purge the energy with soul power; Zhou Yi initially does so using her Soul Emperor cultivation 27.
- Ally restraint: El normally avoids using destruction power against his own people 48.
Dragon Bloodline Suppression
As the Dragon God’s younger brother and the progenitor of lesser dragons, El possesses exceptional authority over dragon bloodlines, especially the Radiant Dragon Clan 15 45.
- Suppresses dragon martial souls, weakening their elemental output and making possession difficult 4 5 26.
- Can awaken and command Dragon King remnants through his bloodline, even if their intelligence has deteriorated 15.
- His suppression of beast martial souls involves checks of level, bloodline, attributes, and fighting spirit; dragons and phoenixes are particularly vulnerable 94.
- Wu Ming suffers at least a thirty-percent reduction to all attributes despite being a Soul Saint 94.
Soul Skills
| Ring | Skill | Effects and limits |
|---|---|---|
| First — purple | Elemental Ruler | Increases elemental effects by 30%. Its summoning application is used alongside elemental fusion attacks 5 27 95. |
| Second — purple | Cataclysm Rotation / Cataclysmic Cycle | Temporarily fuses two or more ultimate elements into a new element retaining their properties. Attribute conflicts are suspended for five seconds; ending the fusion early causes a destructive clash 12. |
| Third — black | Spell-Breaking Edict | Releases a Dragon Element roar with an initial fifty-meter radius. Removes enemy and battlefield natural-element enhancements and inflicts energy that causes backlash during elemental skill use 27. |
- Frostflame Vortex: Combines ultimate ice and fire into tornadoes used against Zhou Yi 27.
- Blazing Fire Lightning Calamity: Fuses ultimate fire and lightning to oppose Huo Yutong’s Dragon King attack 48.
- Ice-water weapon construction: Combines ultimate ice and water into an enormous bow and arrow while fighting Zhang Lexuan 95.
Xeno’jiiva Martial Soul
Xeno’jiiva is El’s second martial soul and the juvenile form of Safi’jiiva. Its central role is the absorption and management of enormous quantities of energy 1 17 59.
- Draws Electrolux’s remnant soul into El’s Sea of Consciousness and stabilizes it with energy 2.
- Absorbs immortal herbs without treating their medicinal incompatibilities as a human cultivator would 17.
- Converts absorbed energy into vitality, healing cracks caused by El’s fusion transformation 18.
- Provides energy authority used to nourish Electrolux’s soul body 91.
- Consumes substantial resources: the three herbs’ energy advances Xeno’jiiva’s evolution rather than El’s ordinary cultivation 59.
Dragon Radiance: Song of Primordial Origin
This incomplete self-Martial Soul Fusion Skill combines Alatreon and Xeno’jiiva through simultaneous possession 18.
- Merges El’s existence into the surrounding world, making him imperceptible to divine-sense-like detection 18.
- Allows him to perceive and forcibly remove the racial authority over ice dragons from Huo Yutong’s illusory crown 18.
- Is severely taxing: less than a second of use leaves him drained, causes elemental rejection, and cracks his body 18.
- His later calculations envisage using this form to reach god-level power and regain control of ruin authority; this is a planning assumption, not a permanent realm advancement 81.
Combat Techniques
- Chaotic Dragon Fist: Combines chaotic spiritual power, soul power, and bloodline pressure into a dragon-shaped fist force. Its mental interference disrupts Huo Yutong before contact 49.
- Judgment of the End: Combines his ultimate elements, draws in nearby natural elements, and makes them repel one another at peak fusion to create a destructive shock wave. Depleted surroundings prevent its normal use in the assessment final 48.
- Sixfold Destruction Claw: Includes Armor Rend for breaking defenses, Soul Shatter for targeting souls, and Space Severance for cutting off escape routes 92 93.
- Black Flash: Used during his clash with Chen Zifeng’s Soul Chasing Sword, immediately before overpowering it 93.
- Close-quarters combat: Uses rapid, precise punches and overwhelming physical strength; he teaches Huo Yutong that detecting an attack does not guarantee the speed to counter it 48.
Knowledge and Instruction
- Recognizes immortal herbs and knows events from the original Peerless Tang Sect storyline 14 69.
- Identifies Wang Dong’er’s concealed gender through the female-only Light Goddess Butterfly martial soul 36.
- Coaches Lu Renjia on concealing skill activation and advises Xiao Xiao to consider fortune-associated soul beasts for future rings 43 47.
- Offers Huo Yutong combat instruction while intending Electrolux to provide the finer spiritual-control teaching 43.
Equipment / Items
- Command Block — Given to him by the Origin God before the latter vanishes. Its arrival accompanies El’s shift toward infrastructure-focused planning 67.
- Sapphire Star — Used for guidance, recording plans, energy-cost calculations, and inspecting the imperial jade seal for corruption. It identifies the Holy Spirit Cult’s Holy Emperor as Tang San bearing the Asura Godhood 69 73 75 81.
- Sun Moon imperial jade seal — Entrusted to him by He Caitou. It can command or suppress most members of the Sun Moon Imperial Family; El stores it in his Sea of Consciousness for inspection 75.
- Immortal herbs — Consumes the primordial immortal herb, Star Luo Spirit Pearl, and earth dragon golden melon to support Xeno’jiiva’s development 17 59.
- Secret Art Soul soul bone — An artificial “pseudo-soul bone” sold to Ning Tian for 1.5 million Gold Soul Coins 56.
Relationships
- Dragon God — Elder brother and companion from El’s former life. El is frustrated by his apparent failures, but the Origin God reveals that their brother has resisted Heaven’s Will’s erosion and left something for them 1 15 65.
- Silver Dragon King — Recognizes him as Huang immediately after his rebirth 1.
- Di Tian — Reverent subordinate who addresses him as “Your Highness Huang,” transports him through spatial rifts, and carries out his orders 2 9 22.
- Huo Yutong — Recruited ally, protected companion, and distant cousin in their cover story. El promises godhood and her mother’s resurrection, arranges her cultivation resources, and repeatedly reassures her 2 4 16 67.
- Electrolux — Resident of El’s Sea of Consciousness and a trusted magical collaborator. El stabilizes his soul, calls him “Elder Yi,” and recruits his help against the Blue Silver Emperor 2 20 69.
- Water Dragon King — Respects his former status and becomes Huo Yutong’s mentor. Her meddling in Huo’s behavior and intervention in the assessment final repeatedly exasperate him 15 30 49.
- Fire Dragon King — Former dragon elder whose bone body El helps restore with Electrolux. Serves as the powerful “family elder” supporting his secluded-clan disguise 20 22 61.
- Mu En — Shrek patron whom El deliberately seeks through Bei Bei. Grants access to the Sea God Pavilion and offers to act as his backer 4 6 62.
- Ning Tian — Commercial contact whose sect El approaches as part of his larger objective of targeting Oscar, the God of Food 56 57.
- Wang Dong’er — Dormitory roommate and academy companion. El discovers both her concealed gender and the Sea God’s divine sense within her 36 74.
- He Caitou / Xu He — Former Sun Moon crown prince who recognizes El’s bloodline connection, gives him the imperial seal, and receives his promise to kill the emperor responsible for his family’s massacre 75.
- Tang San — Principal enemy. El’s plans to defeat him become more complicated after learning of Creator God Tang San and the need to make their worldline independent 16 64.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Recruiting Huo Yutong
El offers Huo Yutong revenge, godhood, and the resurrection of her mother in exchange for loyalty. He presents the million-year Sky Dream Ice Silkworm as her welcome gift and orders it to supply her first soul ring and a second martial soul slot 2.
He brings her into the Great Ferocious Land, introduces the ferocious beasts as future colleagues, and arranges to restore her malnourished body before developing her second martial soul 9.
Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
El travels to Sunset Forest with Huo Yutong and Di Tian, locates the Dragon King remnants, and obtains immortal herbs. When unexpected divine authority threatens Huo’s inheritance, he removes it through self-fusion and suffers severe physical backlash 12 15 17 18.
He identifies Heaven’s Will as the likely source of the interference. After helping restore the Fire Dragon King’s bone body, he orders Di Tian to relocate the medicinal herbs to the Lake of Life 19 20 22.
Shrek Academy and the Freshman Championship
El enters Shrek under a secluded-family disguise intended to help him reach Mu En and the Golden Tree. Zhou Yi’s insults provoke him into demanding an unrestricted duel; his victory and defeat of additional opponents establish his reputation among the students 4 22 24 30.
Shrek advances him directly to the assessment quarterfinals as a one-person team. He reaches the final against Huo Yutong’s team, eliminates Xiao Xiao and Wang Dong’er, and wins after revealing Xeno’jiiva to pull Huo off the platform 33 47 49.
Divine Conflict and Revised Strategy
El initially intends to raise his cultivation, deal with Ah Yin and Tang Hao, reclaim the Destruction Godhead, and kill Tang San. The Origin God reveals that Creator God Tang San’s influence extends through time, making raw combat strength insufficient 63 64.
The revised objective is to change the world’s development and kill the era’s Tang San as the witness and ritual needed to separate their worldline. El abandons a purely rapid-ascension plan in favor of infrastructure, considers a Shrek Empire, and postpones open action against the Blue Silver Emperor until six rings 64 65 67.
With Electrolux, he develops plans to steal godhood fragments through the Golden Tree and replace them with death-infused fakes. They also discuss weaponizing distorted faith and Tang San’s divine sense 69 73.
Sun Moon Connection and Inner Court Challenges
El acknowledges his connection to the Sun Moon Imperial Family and accepts He Caitou’s imperial seal and request for revenge 75.
Seeking an outlet for growing restlessness, he has Yan Shaozhe spread news of his main-team selection and three-ring status to provoke challengers. He defeats the current Shrek Seven Monsters, then faces Wu Ming and later exchanges attacks with Zhang Lexuan 81 91 93 94 95.
Notable Quotes
“I shall bear witness to you, just as you shall bear witness to me.” 3
“Your own strength is what matters.” 48
“For you, Yu Tong, growing stronger and turning your talent into actual strength is what matters most.” 48
Trivia
- El is hopeless with directions; he deliberately chooses Bei Bei and Tang Ya as guides and a route to Mu En 3.
- He catches fish by electrocuting the water, taking care not to use enough power to turn them into charcoal 4.
- Despite imposing compulsory education on the dragons in his former life, he finds Shrek’s homework miserable and eagerly uses Mu En’s invitation to escape it 60.
- He avoided faith-based advancement in his former life because novels he had read warned that “faith is toxic”; his strength came from cultivation instead 73.
