Yin Chao's lashes fluttered slightly. "Bai Tan..."
He spoke very softly, his lips barely touching as he uttered the name, yet a faint regret lingered in his eyes.
In the brief moment Yin Chao was lost in thought, a faceless pedestrian beside him suddenly bumped into his shoulder.
The unmistakably solid impact sent him stumbling back two steps. Ois reached out to steady him at the small of his back.
Once he regained his footing, a hint of surprise crossed Yin Chao's face.
He raised his head, surveying the skyscrapers towering overhead.
"This is a... real world... It's incredible..."
The illusions within Instances could be divided into basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Those ethereal, dreamlike illusions that could be seen but not touched, which only deceived the eyes without inflicting actual harm, were classified as basic.
Those that reproduced memories or created new ones, and could inflict real injuries based on past experiences, were classified as intermediate.
Illusions were all created from either their creator's understanding or the understanding possessed by those who entered them.
But the world before him was both illusory and real, like a new world brought into being by a creator.
This was classified as advanced.
He recalled what the old man in white robes had said in Shalia's memories.
-"Remember, when you close your eyes, you must not imagine anything. Anything at all could become real through your imagination."
Elena had fully inherited Shalia's gift.
Ois tugged at Yin Chao's sleeve, steering him clear of a pedestrian heading straight toward him.
Yin Chao tilted his head to look at him. The boy's youthful face held a pair of eyes entirely different from before, even though their shape and color remained the same.
"Have I ever told you that Ois and Midnight are actually very different?"
