"Mitian?"
Bo Yi instinctively spread his arms and caught the "little cannonball" that hurtled into his chest.
Even Bo Yi himself failed to notice the sense of satisfaction that welled up inside him when that warm little body landed in his arms, as though... it had finally filled the empty space in his heart.
Only after naturally stroking his feathers did Bo Yi spare any attention for anything else. It was then that he noticed-the red glow before his eyes wasn't firelight at all, but a beam of light that pierced the dome and descended from above.
By the time he opened his eyes, however, the beam had already begun slowly dissipating before him, gradually revealing the dome covered in vividly colored oil paintings.
Bo Yi immediately realized-he was back in the Instance. But... he turned his head to look at the white tablecloth beneath him, then at the patients crowded together nearby, apparently watching.
What was going on?
Bo Yi looked bewildered. His mind was still back in the Laboratory, still at the moment when he had forced the Director to choose him as the "vessel," using an NPC to help remove the chip inside his body... Clearly, quite a lot must have happened in the Instance while he was unconscious.
But Bo Yi wasn't particularly interested in what had happened in the Instance right now. What he wanted to know was-he sat up on the long table and reached back to feel the nape of his neck-the skin there, or rather, the skin all over his body, bore no trace of injury. It also felt soft beneath his fingertips, unlike before, when there had always been a small patch that felt completely different from the surrounding skin.
