Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Partially recovered divine power 65 Offers to destroy the surrounding people and buildings to help Bo Yi, despite knowing this could exhaust the small amount of power he has recovered. Bo Yi declines.
Recovery through cleared instances 215 Bo Yi deduces that every instance he clears restores some of Mitian's power; Mitian acknowledges the discovery.
Most of his power recovered 225 Believes his strength now roughly matches the thief's and interprets the invitation to a confrontation as a sign that his opponent is growing anxious.
Divine powers sealed as a player 225 256 Entering True Heart Amusement Park through its invitation makes him an ordinary player with exceptional physical abilities. His injuries no longer heal during the fight with Clown.
Divine abilities usable again 259 Uses black mist to silence and imprison Clown in his own space. He has also secured control over the instance; complete recovery of every stolen portion is not explicitly confirmed.

Background / History

The rebellious avatar

Mitian created another version of himself from a portion of his power so that it could handle his affairs while he wandered around seeking entertainment. The avatar initially served him faithfully, but eventually coveted his faith and sought to replace him. It stole most of his power and sealed him away 259.

Mitian's precautions prevented the avatar from absorbing most of the stolen power or using it to seize his godhood. The avatar instead turned that power into the Mist Game, intending to strengthen itself and gather faith from players. This explains why so many instances center on gods 259.

Bo Yi's childhood summoning

As a gravely injured child, Bo Yi summoned Mitian with a crudely drawn but correctly formed magic circle and wished to live. Mitian healed him and strengthened his existing self-healing ability. Bo Yi later witnessed this encounter in a vision, while Mitian experienced a corresponding dream and initially doubted whether it had really happened 202 224 225.

Clown later revealed that the childhood encounter was real and claimed Mitian had acted for entertainment, hoping to see what a hateful child would do with greater power. Unable to find the encounter among his many memories, Mitian nevertheless recognized that this motive fit his former behavior 258.

The strengthened healing ability subsequently drew renewed interest from the Scientific Research Institute, which repeatedly recaptured Bo Yi to investigate it. Mitian felt responsible for the resulting suffering, but Bo Yi maintained that he would have died without Mitian's intervention 258 259.

Appearance

Mitian's own form is a tall, powerfully built adult man with red eyes, sometimes partially concealed by black mist 77 217 259.

  • Eyes: Described as dark red, deep red, or ruby-red; faintly red eyes also help Bo Yi recognize him in borrowed bodies 30 63 67 217.
  • Borrowed villager: Wears white funeral clothes. The muscular body's large, partly healed back scars belong to its original owner and expose a village secret 51 52.
  • “Xiao Tian”: Uses the body of a small, skinny young player who has recently died 67 68.
  • Sanatorium form: Appears as a plump, snow-white pigeon with red eyes; its size causes it to become stuck in a vent grille 166 196 199.
  • Disguises: Can change his clothing into a research uniform and later poses as Bo Yi's bodyguard 63 221.

Personality

Mitian is flirtatious, theatrical, and persistent. He repeatedly turns practical conversations into opportunities to embrace or tease Bo Yi, calls himself a “good Evil God,” and becomes jealous even when Bo Yi examines a body he is merely borrowing 30 42 52 77. Bo Yi calling him “Hubby” during a staged display of affection delights him enough to make him forget that Bo Yi is painfully pinching his waist 238.

His playfulness gives way to possessive anger when Bo Yi is harmed. Learning that researchers have confined Bo Yi in a room without light or sound, he attacks them and declares, “He's mine.” Yet his concern is not limited to retaliation: Bo Yi's casual insistence that he is accustomed to the chip's pain leaves Mitian distressed rather than reassured 63 65.

Over time, he becomes more careful with Bo Yi's feelings. He abandons the idea of exaggerating his own suffering for sympathy when he sees Bo Yi blaming himself, and later struggles to confess his love because he believes doing so would trivialize the harm associated with his past actions 142 260. His former appetite for chaos contrasts with his eventual willingness to apologize sincerely 258 259.

Abilities & Skills

Black Mist Manipulation

Black mist is Mitian's distinctive divine power, used for movement, searching, healing, restraint, and concealment 42 63 224 259.

  • Transforms into thin mist to infiltrate heavily guarded facilities 63.
  • Divides the mist into dozens of wisps to search for Bo Yi 63.
  • Sends mist through a body to examine its condition and treat injuries 224.
  • Wraps Clown in mist to silence him before imprisonment 259.
  • Can retain a protective presence inside another person without Mitian immediately detecting it 201 207.

Healing and Protective Empowerment

Mitian can heal physical wounds and enhance an existing healing ability 42 224.

  • Heals the child's external and internal injuries, then strengthens Bo Yi's self-healing ability to its limit 224.
  • The power remaining inside Bo Yi lies deeply hidden and activates when his life is in serious danger 207.
  • During the sanatorium ritual, that power prevents the descending entity's hand from reaching Bo Yi; Mitian recognizes it as his own but does not remember placing it there 201.
  • Cannot safely solve every injury through direct intervention: Bo Yi stops him from removing the neck chip because extraction without proper separation would be fatal 65 194.

Instance Access and Spatial Manipulation

Mitian offers to take Bo Yi into instances containing the anomalies he wants to study, while leaving collection and clearance to Bo Yi 30.

  • Opens an instance early to move Bo Yi beyond the Scientific Research Institute chip's control range 65 142.
  • Leaves a pattern on Bo Yi's laboratory wall through which Bo Yi returns after Home Visit 103.
  • Can attempt to tear open a rift so that more of his power—or his true body—can enter an instance 196 199.
  • Possesses a personal space used to imprison Clown 259.

Limits:

  • Forcing additional power into an instance risks attracting the game's attention 196.
  • An opposing force immobilizes him in a void during Home Visit and later prevents him from widening a rift in the sanatorium 84 199.
  • Established instance rules bind even their creator; the amusement park invitation seals Mitian's divine powers when he enters as a player 225.

Possession and Borrowed Forms

Mitian can appear through objects, NPC bodies, a dead player's body, and an animal body 67 142 166.

  • Earlier manifestations include a doll and villagers 142.
  • Takes over a recently dead player's body to accompany the injured Bo Yi from the beginning of Home Visit 67 142.
  • Enters the sanatorium as a pigeon after failing to inhabit an NPC 166.
  • His pigeon form carries very little of his total power, limiting his ability to intervene without opening a rift 196.

Flight and Combat

Mitian flies without equipment and can carry Bo Yi through the air 52 65.

  • Carries Bo Yi out of a mountain cave and later away from the Scientific Research Institute 52 65.
  • Easily overpowers human researchers during his search for Bo Yi 63.
  • Retains enough physical prowess while power-sealed to exchange blows with Clown on roughly equal terms 256.
  • As an ordinary player, suffers accumulating wounds while Clown heals, causing him to lose ground in a prolonged fight 256.

Observation and Improvisation

  • Notices Xiong Qianshan's recurring hostility whenever Ning Ran praises Bo Yi, helping expose their sibling relationship 82.
  • Uses a feigned stomachache and requests for plain rice, hot water, and a room to maneuver around Qiqi's mother's meal 73.
  • Recognizes that Clown's attacks on Bo Yi are intended to activate and steal the divine power hidden inside him 256.

Relationships

  • Bo Yi — Initially his chosen instance-clearing partner, later his lover. Clearing instances restores Mitian's power, while Mitian provides access, protection, and care. Bo Yi eventually reveals that his anomaly research was subconsciously driven by a desire to find the god who saved him as a child 30 215 260.
  • Clown / Mitian's avatar — A power-derived duplicate who betrays him, steals most of his strength, and creates the Mist Game. Their identical appearance is used to turn players against Mitian. Mitian ultimately captures and imprisons him 255 259.
  • Scientific Research Institute — Enemy responsible for Bo Yi's childhood experimentation, control chip, and repeated abuse. Mitian retaliates against its personnel, assists in burning the facility, and offers further help against the person behind it 63 144 218 260.
