Here was what had happened-
Early that morning, Mitian had appeared in the laboratory. He intended to have a proper discussion with his partner about the theme of the next instance they would enter, and strengthen their relationship while he was at it.
He had planned everything beautifully, except for the one thing he had failed to anticipate-Bo Yi was not in the laboratory.
At first, Mitian merely assumed that Bo Yi had not arrived for work yet, so he strolled out of Bo Yi's private laboratory and wandered around the Research Institute as if he were touring a garden. Strangely, however, it was not just Bo Yi who was absent. Most of the other laboratories were empty too. Equipment lay scattered across the tables in those vacant rooms, alongside experiments that had clearly been left half-finished, but the researchers were nowhere to be seen.
After making a circuit of the Research Institute, he finally found several researchers at the entrance, craning their necks toward the gates. Their faces were full of anxiety and unease, and they kept pacing back and forth.
"Would you stop pacing already?! You're giving me a headache! Things are frustrating enough as it is!"
"I can't stop! The moment I stop, my mind starts running wild! They took the boss away ages ago! Why haven't we heard anything yet?! Could he have..."
"Like hell!" another researcher immediately cut him off. "Don't you dare jinx him! The boss will definitely be fine!"
Hm? At the corner, Mitian slowly revealed himself and walked toward the group of researchers. By the time he reached them, his clothes had transformed completely into a research uniform identical to theirs.
