In the space of a single second, Bo Yi was back on the bed he had just left.

He silently glanced at the man looming almost entirely over him. Perhaps out of consideration for his current physical condition, Mitian had not pressed his full weight onto him: one hand cushioned the back of Bo Yi's head, his elbow braced on the bed to support most of his body; his other hand held Bo Yi's wrist against the bed, enveloping him completely in the shadow beneath him.

Even so, there was barely a hand's breadth between them. If Bo Yi lifted his chin just a little, he would probably touch the other man's icy nose.

Bo Yi: "..." He genuinely had no idea what to make of Mitian's actions.

You could call him rough... but when Mitian yanked me back, he remembered to cushion the back of my head so I wouldn't hit it.

But you could call him gentle... except he didn't ease up on that pulling force at all when he threw me onto this rock-hard bed.

He sighed. "What are you-" doing now?

He had barely begun speaking when the hand gripping his wrist suddenly released it and pressed against his lips. "Shh-"

Bo Yi instinctively tried to struggle. His legs had only just shifted when the dark figure above him lowered his body, swinging a leg over without hesitation to pin Bo Yi's restless legs.

"Listen-" he whispered into his ear.

Bo Yi stopped struggling.

The room was utterly quiet, as though there was no sound other than Bo Yi's faint breathing-the steady knocking against the wall outside had stopped at some point.

"Tap."

"Tap."

Slow footsteps suddenly sounded outside his room, in the living room beyond it.

Bo Yi's eyes slowly widened.
