Ch. 161The blind Blade-for-Hire was hunting a Sequence Seven [Criminal]!

Lin Yi took Feng San’s vehicle and discovered that his father, Li Dahai, was alive, then set out with the merged convoy. As Xu Mu identified Lin Yi as a Sequence Seven [Criminal], Zhang Xingxing warned that a blind Sequence Seven [Blade-for-Hire] was hunting someone of that sequence.

  • Lin Yi searched Feng San’s vehicle, found a Person-Name Compass, and used it to confirm that Li Dahai was alive and north of them.
  • Xu Mu prepared the merged convoy to move out, while Lin Yi took a Hummer and planned to continue toward Gansu Province.
  • The convoy members settled into different vehicles, and Bai Le warned Xu Mu that Lin Yi seemed dangerous.
  • Xu Mu told Bai Le and Zhang Xingxing that Lin Yi belonged to the Survival Rules Convoy and was a Sequence Seven [Blood Prison Madman] of the [Criminal] Sequence.
  • Zhang Xingxing warned Xu Mu that a blind Sequence Seven [Blade-for-Hire] they had met was searching for a Sequence Seven [Criminal].

Ch. 162The intriguing blind Blade-for-Hire!

Lin Yi learned that a powerful blind Sequence Seven [Blade-for-Hire] was searching for someone on the [Criminal] Sequence, putting him at risk as a Sequence Seven himself. After hearing how the blind man had subdued Feng San, Lin Yi remained confident in his own strength and asked Pang Gui about traveling to Gansu Province, which Pang Gui warned was especially dangerous.

  • Lin Yi asked Xu Mu how a Sequence Seven [Criminal] could advance, but Xu Mu did not know.
  • Lin Yi gave Xu Mu and Pang Gui a portable gas stove in exchange for information about the blind Blade-for-Hire.
  • Pang Gui said the blind man had subdued Feng San instantly and asked the convoy whether they had seen a Sequence Seven [Criminal].
  • Xu Mu and Pang Gui warned Lin Yi that the blind Blade-for-Hire was dangerous, but Lin Yi said he could handle him if they met.
  • Lin Yi asked how long it would take to reach Gansu Province, and Pang Gui urged him not to go because the dangers there were worse.

Ch. 163Dangerous Gansu Province: Mist Slaves in the Fog!

Lin Yi learned that Gansu Province was shrouded in deadly fog and inhabited by Mist Slaves that could impersonate people, but he remained determined to go there to find his family. Bai Le revealed that his grandparents were in Gansu Province too, and he agreed to travel with Lin Yi to their shared hometown of Cool City.

  • Pang Gui and Zhang Xingxing warned Lin Yi that Gansu Province's dense fog, altered terrain, and level-three-or-stronger Mist Slaves had cost the Spring and Autumn Convoy half its members.
  • Pang Gui described how a Mist Slave had impersonated Yi Wenjuan, and explained that survivors could only flee and trust no one they encountered.
  • Lin Yi told Xu Mu to warn the Survival Rules Convoy away from Gansu Province and direct them to the Northern Settlement, while he went ahead alone to search for his family.
  • Bai Le said his grandparents were alive in Gansu Province and asked to accompany Lin Yi there.
  • Lin Yi discovered that Bai Le's home and his own were both near Cool City, and agreed they would travel there together.

Ch. 164Liu Nian the Riddler: Suspicions About the Northern Settlement

Xu Mu learned that White Lotus Fortress was controlled by Aberration Symbiotes and brought warnings about the dangers facing the convoy. Liu Chuan deduced that the Northern Settlement was a secret underground stronghold near the capital, while Liu Nian invited him to join and mentioned that Promotion Potions were being made there.

  • Liu Chuan warned Xu Mu to avoid Farstar Fortress and White Lotus Fortress, then revealed that Aberration Symbiotes made up most of White Lotus Fortress and were preparing to expand across Shaanxi Province.
  • Xu Mu said the convoy would take Lin Yi to the border before deciding whether to stay in Qing City, and Liu Nian suggested Three Gorges Fortress or New Prosperity Town as alternatives.
  • Liu Chuan worried about changing terrain and growing aberration threats, while Liu Nian said the Northern Settlement also faced powerful aberrations and urged him to come north.
  • Liu Chuan deduced that the Northern Settlement was an underground stronghold near the capital, but Liu Nian refused to reveal its exact location because of a confidentiality agreement.
  • Liu Nian told Liu Chuan that Potion Makers were producing Awakening and Promotion Potions at the settlement and suggested one might help him advance.

Ch. 165Plans for what came next, and a Road Bandit Group attack!!!

Lin Yi learned that Cao Yuan was conducting human experiments in Shaanxi Province and urged Xu Mu’s convoy to reach the Three Gorges Fortress, while he and Bai Le planned to continue to Gansu Province. Before they could leave, the cannibalistic Road Bandit Group surrounded the village and confronted Xu Mu’s convoy.

  • Xu Mu relayed Liu Chuan’s warning, and Lin Yi decided to travel to Gansu Province without putting Liu Chuan in danger.
  • Xu Mu told Lin Yi and the others that Cao Yuan was cooperating with the White Lotus Fortress on experiments involving Aberration Symbiotes, so Lin Yi urged the convoy to head for the Three Gorges Fortress.
  • Lin Yi arranged to leave the convoy with Bai Le and only one vehicle after they reached their destination.
  • The Road Bandit Group arrived with dozens of vehicles and hundreds of people, and Pang Gui and Zhang Xingxing identified them as cannibals on the [Criminal] Sequence Pathway.
  • The Road Bandit Group’s leader demanded to know where Feng San was, and Xu Mu stepped forward to identify himself as the convoy’s captain.

Ch. 166Those on the [Criminal] Sequence Shouldn't Be Human-They Should Choose the Other Side!

Lin Yi met Cheng Kuang, another Sequence Seven of the [Criminal] Sequence, and learned that a blind Blade-for-Hire was hunting Cheng Kuang’s band of road bandits. After Cheng Kuang tried to recruit Lin Yi and his group found themselves blocked in the village, Lin Yi decided to wait for the Blade-for-Hire to arrive.

  • Lin Yi and Cheng Kuang recognized each other as Sequence Seven members of the [Criminal] Sequence and introduced themselves.
  • Cheng Kuang told Lin Yi that a blind Blade-for-Hire with an anomalous saber had been hunting his bandits and asked Lin Yi to join his convoy.
  • Cheng Kuang argued that [Criminal] Sequence Transcendents should reject human standards, then left with his bandits to shelter outside the village.
  • Zhang Xingxing, Pang Gui, and the others discussed Cheng Kuang’s behavior as Lin Yi’s group entered the village.
  • Lin Yi warned that Cheng Kuang’s bandits were watching the exits and decided the group should wait for the blind Blade-for-Hire to arrive.

Ch. 167Plans of Their Own-the Blind Blade-for-Hire Catches Up!!!

Lin Yi and Cheng Kuang each planned to use the blind Blade-for-Hire to their advantage, but the man finally caught up with Cheng Kuang. He rejected Cheng Kuang’s attempt to redirect him toward Lin Yi and insisted he only wanted to kill Cheng Kuang.

  • Lin Yi decided to wait for the blind Blade-for-Hire rather than waste an aberration transformation fighting Cheng Kuang.
  • Cheng Kuang planned to let the blind man fight Lin Yi while he robbed Lin Yi’s convoy and escaped with his men.
  • Cheng Kuang’s underling reported that the blind Blade-for-Hire had caught up on his three-wheeler.
  • The blind Blade-for-Hire confronted Cheng Kuang and refused his offer to help kill Lin Yi instead.
  • The blind Blade-for-Hire warned Lin Yi to stay out of the fight and said he would not pursue him.

Ch. 168Holy shit! A forty-meter blade!!!

Blind Man attacked Cheng Kuang’s convoy with the Horizontal Saber after Cheng Kuang transformed into a Painted Skin and tried to escape. Blind Man split Cheng Kuang’s car with a forty-meter phantom blade and advanced from Sequence Seven to Sequence Six.

  • Lin Yi watched as Blind Man drew the Horizontal Saber and Cheng Kuang transformed into a Tier Two Painted Skin.
  • Cheng Kuang ordered the Road Bandit Group’s men to attack, but Blind Man tore through them with his saber.
  • Cheng Kuang abandoned the fight, returned to human form, and tried to flee in his car.
  • Blind Man unleashed a forty-meter phantom blade that cleaved Cheng Kuang’s car in two.
  • Blind Man absorbed the drifting white motes and advanced to Sequence Six of the [Blade-for-Hire] Sequence.

Ch. 169Blind Cheng: Gansu Province is dangerous? Then I damn well have to see it for myself!

Blind Cheng met Lin Yi and joined his plan to escort Bai Le through dangerous Gansu Province to the Northern Settlement. After warning that the journey offered only a slim chance of survival, Lin Yi agreed to take Blind Cheng along, relying in part on Bai Le’s [Luck].

  • Blind Cheng approached Lin Yi after advancing to Sequence Six, but backed down when his Horizontal Saber warned him not to fight the Sequence Seven [Criminal].
  • Lin Yi invited Blind Cheng into the village, where Xu Mu served him instant noodles after learning he had gone hungry for two days.
  • Blind Cheng asked to travel with the group to the Northern Settlement, and Xu Mu explained that Lin Yi was taking Bai Le there while the Convoy would carry them to the provincial border.
  • Lin Yi warned Blind Cheng that Gansu Province was fog-shrouded, filled with aberrations at least level three, and offered only a slim chance of survival.
  • Blind Cheng decided to go with Lin Yi, and Lin Yi told him to finish eating so they could set out, saying Bai Le’s [Luck] could improve their safety.

Ch. 170Aberration Mist Slaves: Holy Shit, Why Are You Shouting So Loud?

Lin Yi, Bai Le, and Blind Cheng entered the fog-shrouded Gansu Province, where they encountered a Mist Slave that attacked their Hummer. After Blind Cheng drove it off, Lin Yi accelerated and relied on Bai Le to guide them through the dangerous fog.

  • Xu Mu gave Lin Yi gasoline and supplies before Lin Yi, Bai Le, and Blind Cheng left for Gansu Province.
  • Lin Yi drove into Gansu Province while Xu Mu’s convoy turned back toward the Three Gorges Fortress.
  • Bai Le spotted a smiling man waving from the roadside, and Lin Yi identified it as a Mist Slave.
  • A Mist Slave appeared at Bai Le’s window and smashed its head against the glass, but Blind Cheng struck it with his saber and made it vanish.
  • Lin Yi realized the Mist Slaves were tied to the fog, set out the Anomalous Object Compass, and sped up with Bai Le guiding them.

Ch. 171Shit, Guys, I Hit Someone This Time!

Lin Yi, Blind Cheng, and Bai Le were surrounded by Mist Slaves at dawn, then Lin Yi hit a person who ran into the road. A crowd fleeing nearby buildings tried to force their way into the Hummer, and Lin Yi prepared to drive through them.

  • Lin Yi stopped the Hummer for the night, and he, Blind Cheng, and Bai Le ate and slept inside.
  • At dawn, a dozen or more Mist Slaves surrounded the Hummer and attacked its windows.
  • Lin Yi drove off while Blind Cheng killed the Mist Slaves at the windows and Lin Yi used the [Duel King's Bandages] to kill the one on the windshield.
  • A person ran into the road, and Lin Yi hit him with the Hummer.
  • Bai Le spotted nearly a hundred people rushing out of nearby buildings, and they crowded around the Hummer, demanding to be let inside or trying to take it.
  • Lin Yi decided to drive straight through the crowd.

Ch. 172What's Going On? What Happened?

Lin Yi’s group followed a convoy to a service area protected from the mist by an anomalous object. There, Lin Yi learned that the convoy’s captain, Yuan Yu, was suspected of killing a man to take his anomalous object.

  • Lin Yi drove the Hummer after the fleeing convoy, leaving the mist and Mist Slaves behind.
  • At a service area, a woman in a leather trench coat named Yuan Yu used a blue porcelain plate to create a dome that kept the mist out.
  • Lin Yi and the others joined the convoy members, who were preparing food and trading supplies.
  • A potbellied vendor recognized Lin Yi’s white hair and assumed he carried an anomalous object, then offered him a bottle of water for it.
  • The vendor warned Lin Yi that Yuan Yu might force him to trade and claimed she had taken an anomalous object after Li Hao disappeared.

Ch. 173Sequence Six of the [Blade-for-Hire] Pathway: [Brocade Guard]!

Lin Yi learned that Yuan Yu’s Nightwalker Convoy controlled its members and confiscated their Anomalous Objects, and he anticipated a confrontation to obtain the object that protected against the fog. Blind Cheng revealed that he had reached Sequence Six as a [Brocade Guard], while a woman from the convoy approached their Hummer after finding Bai Le’s discarded chip bag.

  • Bai Le and Blind Cheng returned to the vehicle and told Lin Yi that Yuan Yu led the Nightwalker Convoy, whose three Sequence Transcendents enforced its travel rules and took members’ Anomalous Objects.
  • Lin Yi suspected Yuan Yu had a hidden trump card but welcomed the chance to seize her fog-protecting Anomalous Object, and Blind Cheng left the decision to him.
  • Blind Cheng told Lin Yi that Sequence Six of the [Blade-for-Hire] Pathway was [Brocade Guard] and that he had gained a means of control.
  • Lin Yi suggested Blind Cheng consider advancing through an approach like Cheng Kuang’s, then watched the convoy while they ate.
  • A woman found Bai Le’s discarded chip bag, savored its leftover seasoning, and headed toward the Hummer as the other convoy members watched knowingly.

Ch. 174Blind Cheng: I can't see a damn thing! Is she putting on a spicy show?

Zhu Qiuhong approached Lin Yi’s Hummer, hoping to trade her silence for food, but Lin Yi decided to kill her when she threatened to expose his supplies. The chapter left Zhu Qiuhong bound by Lin Yi’s bandages as Blind Cheng prepared to finish her.

  • People in the Convoy gossiped about Zhu Qiuhong as she approached Lin Yi’s Hummer and knocked on the passenger window.
  • Bai Le opened the window and took back the chip bag Zhu Qiuhong had found, while Blind Cheng warned her to leave.
  • Zhu Qiuhong offered to keep Lin Yi’s supplies secret in exchange for food and tried to threaten him by mentioning Captain Yuan and Lin Yi’s white hair.
  • Lin Yi cheerfully invited Zhu Qiuhong into the back of the Hummer, where she reached for a ham sausage among the supplies.
  • Lin Yi’s bandages wrapped around Zhu Qiuhong and choked her as Blind Cheng reached toward her eyes.

Ch. 175Could it be that your brain has rusted?

After Blind Cheng killed Zhu Qiuhong, he tried to provoke Yuan Yu and her companions into confronting him, while Lin Yi waited for a chance to seize their anomalous object. The chapter ended with Blind Cheng and Bai Le tossing trash outside to force the convoy leaders to come to them.

  • Blind Cheng released Zhu Qiuhong after strangling her, and Lin Yi told him he could dispose of the body as long as he did not push the convoy into a breakdown.
  • Blind Cheng dragged Zhu Qiuhong’s corpse outside, where the convoy members recognized her and learned she had been killed.
  • Yuan Yu, Wang Haodong, and Zhang Xu heard about Zhu Qiuhong’s death, but Yuan Yu dismissed it as an ordinary occurrence in the convoy.
  • Lin Yi told Blind Cheng that Yuan Yu had no intention of taking the bait, so Blind Cheng complained that he would not get to have his fun.
  • Bai Le suggested that throwing trash outside would prompt the convoy members to report them, and Blind Cheng and Bai Le tossed their rubbish out.
  • Lin Yi rested in the Hummer and told Blind Cheng to let him know when he was done, since Lin Yi still wanted the convoy’s anomalous object.

Ch. 176If I can't have it, neither can you!

People in the Convoy noticed the Hummer’s discarded food wrappers and tried to persuade Yuan Yu and the other Sequence Transcendents to seize its supplies. Yuan Yu decided not to provoke the Hummer’s occupants, while worrying about how her Anomalous Object and the Convoy’s need for a [Prophet] affected their chances of escaping Gansu Province.

  • Convoy members envied the Hummer’s supplies, and a dark-faced man went to report that its occupants had killed Zhu Qiuhong and thrown away food and drink wrappers.
  • The dark-faced man claimed the Hummer’s occupants might have stolen supplies, hoping Yuan Yu, Wang Haodong, and Zhang Xu would seize them.
  • Wang Haodong and Zhang Xu considered taking the supplies, but Yuan Yu warned that the Hummer’s occupants might be dangerous and told them to leave the matter alone.
  • Yuan Yu reflected that the Convoy needed a [Prophet] to navigate Gansu Province’s fog and Aberrations, and worried that the Hummer’s occupants might target her fog-warding Anomalous Object.

Ch. 177You don't respect your elders or care for children! You'll amount to nothing and never find a wife!

Lin Yi and his companions prepared to travel with the Convoy after resting, while the Convoy offered Blind Cheng special treatment as a sequence transcendent. Lin Yi refused an old woman's attempt to trade Toilet Bowl Cleaner for his noodles, and she berated him as the Convoy prepared to leave.

  • Lin Yi woke at six and found the Convoy resting safely behind the barrier that kept out the fog.
  • Zhang Xu greeted Lin Yi and later invited the group to follow the Convoy vehicle, after Lin Yi and Bai Le identified Blind Cheng as their sequence transcendent.
  • Lin Yi agreed to travel with the Convoy and ate crunchy instant noodles while the others prepared to leave in about an hour.
  • An old woman demanded Lin Yi trade his noodles for Toilet Bowl Cleaner and tried to snatch them, but Lin Yi refused.
  • The old woman insulted Lin Yi, saying he lacked respect for elders and would amount to nothing or find a wife.

Ch. 178Outrageous [Luck]-There Was Something Uncanny About Bai Le!

Lin Yi killed an old woman who insulted him, while Bai Le’s [Luck] led Lin Yi and Blind Cheng to suspect it influenced everyone around him. The three stopped to cook noodles as the convoy watched from a distance, too afraid to approach.

  • Lin Yi strangled the old woman in a neighboring car after she cursed at him, and Blind Cheng teased Bai Le about daring to insult Lin Yi.
  • Lin Yi realized that [Luck] might have influenced his earlier decision to spare Bai Le and wondered whether Blind Cheng’s bullying had brought them bad luck.
  • Lin Yi warned Blind Cheng to stop provoking Bai Le, and Blind Cheng decided to avoid raising his voice around him.
  • Lin Yi cooked instant noodles with ham sausages for himself and Blind Cheng while Bai Le stood nearby.
  • The convoy’s passengers watched the meal hungrily but did not approach, and Yuan Yu was relieved she had not tried to rob the three.

Ch. 179Lin, There Seem to Be... a Lot of Mist Slaves Outside!

Lin Yi and the Nightwalker Convoy encountered a swarm of Mist Slaves on the road at night, forcing the convoy to stop and prepare to fight. Yuan Yu ordered everyone out to battle the Tier Three Aberrations, leaving Lin Yi shocked by her decision.

  • Lin Yi followed the Nightwalker Convoy, and Bai Le used the Person-Name Compass to confirm that his grandfather was alive in the direction they were traveling.
  • Blind Cheng explained that the [Blade-for-Hire] sequence cost him his sight and the [Criminal] sequence cost him a kidney.
  • Mist Slaves swarmed the convoy, attacking cyclists and clinging to the vehicles as Lin Yi drove close behind the cars ahead.
  • When the three leading vehicles stopped, Lin Yi maneuvered the Hummer beside the lead vehicle while Mist Slaves pounded on its windows.
  • Yuan Yu smashed a plate to create a Protective Shield, drew a machete, and called for everyone to get out and fight the Aberrations.

Ch. 180Dropping all pretenses: hand over the Anomalous Object that wards off the dense fog

Lin Yi’s group escaped the Mist Slaves after Yuan Yu sacrificed the convoy’s ordinary people to get away. When the Person-Name Compass showed they were heading in the wrong direction, Lin Yi stopped Yuan Yu’s vehicle and demanded the Anomalous Object that warded off the dense fog.

  • Yuan Yu ordered the ordinary people to draw the Mist Slaves’ attention, then fled with Wang Haodong and Zhang Xu as Lin Yi followed their vehicles.
  • Lin Yi explained to Bai Le that Yuan Yu had chosen to sacrifice others to survive, and five vehicles escaped the Mist Slaves’ encirclement.
  • Bai Le noticed the Person-Name Compass pointing away from their destination, so Lin Yi decided to leave the convoy and take its fog-warding Anomalous Object.
  • Lin Yi forced Yuan Yu’s vehicle to stop, and Yuan Yu, Wang Haodong, and Zhang Xu got out to confront him.
  • Lin Yi told Yuan Yu that his group was going elsewhere and demanded that she hand over the Anomalous Object that warded off the dense fog.
