Major Drake led the cavalry in a charge, while Katel's musket users fired from behind them. Numerous blue arcane golems also moved through the battlefield.
Red and white orbs of magic kept slamming into the trolls-Fireballs and Frostbolts, along with the occasional Arcane Missiles.
"Rest for now! Leave this to us!" Rhode shouted to Falstad.
Falstad understood that his soldiers had nothing left. Forcing them into battle would only get them killed, so he nodded lightly.
"Halt the charge! Pull the line back!"
As the herald relayed the orders, the Wildhammer soldiers began retreating, allowing the soldiers of Rhode’s Burning Legion to surge to the front.
That included the gryphon riders. Their fierce yet adorable gryphons were so exhausted they could barely fly.
Rhode’s Burning Legion immediately launched a ferocious assault on the trolls.
To Falstad's surprise, some of the trolls fought back normally, while others seemed to ignore the soldiers hacking at them and instead chased the arcane golems farther away.
The once-ferocious Black Berserkers were particularly strange. They shambled forward mindlessly, taking repeated blows to their bodies and heads before slowly collapsing.
Soon, these berserkers, who had held off the Wildhammers' finest Ram Riders, were slaughtered one after another.
The remaining trolls trembled all over.
Everything terrified them-the enemy's numbers, their killing power, and the abnormal behavior of their strongest allies, the Black Berserkers.
They kept retreating, but two legs could not outrun four. The cavalry quickly caught up and cut them down.
Rhode’s Burning Legion was exceptionally well drilled. Even amid the chaos, they maintained excellent formations, surrounding the enemy on all sides and leaving nowhere to flee.
Before long, Rhode’s Burning Legion had taken control of the battlefield.
