What did he mean, did he still have a chance?
Had he climbed such a high mountain just to ask that?
Rhode couldn't help shivering.
It was high up here, and rather cold.
Rhode looked Gadd up and down.
He didn't recognize him.
But his outfit certainly screamed Cult of the Damned, and the skull staff strapped to his back looked rather familiar.
"I'm the former Darkmaster Gandling," Gadd hurriedly introduced himself. "Having witnessed the evil of the Scourge and the Lich King, I simply couldn't stand it anymore, so I came specifically to surrender to you."
When he saw Rhode absorb the Blue Dragon Essence he had fired without even trying to dodge, Gadd froze.
He wished he could dig a hole like a Crypt Fiend, crawl inside, and disappear on the spot.
Nobody understood the power of this Blue Dragon Essence better than he did!
Even while controlling it with magic, he had felt it threatening to slip out of his grasp. After all, it contained almost the entire magical power of a blue dragon queen!
Yet what Gadd now saw was that even an attack brimming with blue dragon magic was nothing before Rhode.
In fact, when Rhode saw the Blue Dragon Essence, he hadn't looked as though he was being attacked at all. He had looked as though he was receiving a gift-and enjoying it?
So Gadd immediately made his decision.
No fighting!
Fight, my ass!
Against a mage like this, striking first meant disaster, and striking second meant disaster too.
So... the Blue Dragon Essence was a gift! A gift I fired over to him!
Right, I'll just have to force that explanation to work.
Whatever happens, I can't fight him.
Fighting is absolutely out of the question. I'll never win.
