Yang Lin waved a hand. "I know that without you telling me. After all, I'm going to be the strongest in this era."
He was so casual, as though things ought to be exactly as he said: he would be the strongest in this era.
The Inner Academy teachers nearby exchanged glances, then all nodded together.
They could hardly doubt him. If that last strike had landed on them, they probably would have gone straight to meet their great-grandmothers in the afterlife.
Mu En chuckled softly. What he liked most about Yang Lin was that confidence of his, that air of invincibility.
Yang Lin glanced at Yan Shaozhe, then spoke to Mu En again:
"Mu En, Shrek has such a vast estate and fortune. Surely you aren't this stingy... Our lives were threatened. If not for this special innate ability of mine, things really would have looked grim for us today."
Mu En also turned his gaze toward Yan Shaozhe and sighed inwardly.
His disciple's martial soul was clearly the bright phoenix, yet his temperament was so petty and miserly. No wonder he had remained stuck at rank ninety-five.
"Rest assured. Later, you can accompany me to the Shrek Treasure Vault and each choose any soul bone under a hundred thousand years old."
Wang Dong's and Jiang Nannan's eyes instantly lit up at those words.
These were ten thousand year soul bones, and they could choose freely! That meant they could pick the soul bone best suited to them.
Never mind Jiang Nannan, a commoner-even Wang Dong, the young sect master of the Clear Sky Sect, was incredibly excited.
Both cast grateful looks at Yang Lin, then, at his signal, bowed to Mu En together.
Hearing this, Yan Shaozhe felt a pang of anguish. He wanted to say something more, but Mu En's stern glare forced him to swallow his words.
"Now that's generous of you, Mu En. Oh, since you're here, there's something else I want to tell you. I think it's pretty appalling."
At the word "appalling," Mu En straightened up, wanting to hear what the boy had to say.
"Mu En, do you know Zhou Yi?"
Mu En nodded. Although he no longer paid attention to the academy's day-to-day affairs, he had heard students mention Zhou Yi.
She seemed to be a very strict teacher.
Standing off to the side, Yan Shaozhe's heart jolted at the name.
Oh no. He's coming after me.
Yang Lin took a small notebook out of his Storage Ring.
It recorded all the misdeeds Zhou Yi had committed during her years as a teacher.
Among them was expelling students outright for no reason.
Her training had caused permanent damage to several students' foundations. Not only had she failed to arrange timely treatment, but she had repeatedly humiliated them verbally before cruelly expelling them.
It was not that she had never been disciplined during this time, but because her husband was the Soul Tool Department Vice Dean, every matter had been dropped.
Among the students she had expelled, some had suffered severe depression, while others had even taken their own lives.
All told, there were a full four or five hundred cases-a truly horrifying number.
Before everyone present, Yang Lin read out the evidence of these offenses, sentence by sentence.
Mu En's expression was initially unchanged, then grew darker and darker, until it turned utterly livid.
His trembling fingers alone showed just how furious he was.
"Mu En, I really have to wonder: how could someone like this have been allowed to teach at Shrek for over ten years?"
"Oh, and if you don't believe me, you can investigate it yourself. Finding out the truth should be quite easy."
Yang Lin handed the little notebook to Mu En.
Mu En took it and narrowed his eyes at Yan Shaozhe, whose face had long since gone pale.
In a very quiet voice, he asked:
"Shaozhe... Did you know about this?"
Hearing that tone from his teacher, Yan Shaozhe knew he was truly angry. Frightened, he immediately dropped to his knees.
He gritted his teeth, but still did not dare lie, and said:
"Teacher... I... knew some of it, but I truly never imagined it was this serious."
Naturally, Yan Shaozhe knew what Zhou Yi had done. He had thought she was merely expelling a few extra students, nothing particularly serious.
He had never expected this bitch's actions to have such far-reaching consequences.
"Enough. If you want to kneel, go kneel in the Sea God Pavilion. Go notify the elders first. I'm calling a Sea God Pavilion meeting."
Mu En waved a hand and sent Yan Shaozhe away.
Then he said to Yang Lin:
"Have Teacher Li take you to the Shrek Treasure Vault. You may choose any soul bones under a hundred thousand years old. I still have something to attend to, so I won't accompany you."
He then handed the teacher surnamed Li a token and vanished from where he stood.
"All right! Take care."
Yang Lin waved in the direction he had left.
The three of them then headed to the Shrek Treasure Vault with Teacher Li.
Along the way, they kept chattering about what kinds of soul bones they should choose.
Teacher Li's eyes were also full of envy. Soul bones over ten thousand years old held enormous appeal for him, too.
Meanwhile, at the Sea God Pavilion.
Mu En took the head seat. Before long, the elders arrived at the Sea God Pavilion one after another.
Seeing Yan Shaozhe standing beside Mu En with his head lowered, everyone knew this meeting concerned him.
Once everyone had arrived, Mu En tapped the tabletop lightly, signaling for silence.
"Come, Shaozhe. Step forward and kneel."
Yan Shaozhe knew better than to hesitate and immediately knelt.
"What we will discuss next is removing Yan Shaozhe from his position as Martial Soul Department Dean, as well as how to deal with the Outer Academy teacher Zhou Yi."
The elders present were startled. They had not expected Mu En to open with such a thunderbolt the moment they arrived.
As for the Outer Academy teacher mentioned afterward, they paid her no attention.
Without waiting for them to speak, Mu En tossed the little notebook onto the table and gestured for them to read it themselves.
Most of those present were Titled Douluos, so they read extremely quickly.
Except for Xuan Zi, who was still gnawing on a chicken leg.
All the other elders wore grim expressions and looked at Yan Shaozhe with disappointment in their eyes.
A full four or five hundred cases-it was simply outrageous. Just how many children's futures had been destroyed?
And only today had they, the elders, learned of something this serious.
With a matter this grave, no wonder Mu En had called a Sea God Pavilion meeting.
Martial Soul Department Dean Xian Lin'er slammed the table and shouted, "Yan Shaozhe! Is this how you serve as dean?"
"Lin'er, don't be disrespectful!"
The speaker was her mother, Song Yunzhi, one of the highest-ranking elders in the Sea God Pavilion.
Xian Lin'er wanted to berate him further, but at her mother's words, she closed her mouth.
Even so, her eyes remained fixed on Yan Shaozhe as he knelt on the floor.
"You've all finished reading, haven't you? I propose removing Yan Shaozhe as Martial Soul Department Dean and appointing Cai Mei'er in his place. Who is in favor, and who is opposed?"
No one voiced an objection. Everyone tacitly accepted Mu En's decision.
Mu En addressed Yan Shaozhe, who was still kneeling on the floor:
"Shaozhe, Xiaotao nearly made a terrible mistake today. Since you have nothing else to do, travel the entire continent and exhaust every means to resolve her evil fire problem."
Yan Shaozhe nodded. "Yes, Teacher."
Mu En nodded and spoke again. "Then next, let us discuss how to deal with this Outer Academy teacher, Zhou Yi."
