In that fleeting instant.
A fragment of that scene seemed to flash before Lynn's eyes, as though he had once again seen that white-haired man, seen his back, isolated from the world.
And for some reason, he suddenly felt as though something had been stripped away from him forever.
Leaving him lost and hollow.
"I've never seen power like that. Every corruption in Dark Night City vanished in an instant. I asked the Night Doctors who had died, and they said they only felt a powerful summons, as if time itself had been reversed. Their shattered souls quickly recovered. Even in Hell, a miracle like this was unheard of."
"The Witch God and Colossus have both recovered, but Sir Awen's condition is a little unusual. He's still unconscious. And the Matriarch... the Matriarch is missing. We've been searching, but there's still no news..."
The people around him kept telling him what had happened over the past month.
So many things.
So many upheavals.
But Lynn's heart was heavy. He could not remember when he had escaped the commotion. He felt both joy and bewilderment: joy because so many people had returned, and Dark Night City seemed to have become its old self again; bewilderment at the fate that had brought him to this moment.
"Take some time to settle down."
White Night patted his shoulder and spoke softly. He could see the state Lynn was in. Far too much had piled up in his heart along the way, profound grief and overwhelming joy coming one after another. No ordinary person could take all of that in at once.
"You don't have to think about anything. At least everyone is back now, aren't they?"
White Night kept anyone else from disturbing him.
He knew.
What Lynn had experienced during this time
