When she reached the end of the street, she looked at the fortress entrance guarded by soldiers.
Robin hesitated briefly, then her gaze hardened with resolve, and she walked over.
It was somewhat surprising, yet also somewhat expected...
Even at this island's most crucial fortress, the guards did not stop Robin. They simply asked her name and where she was going, then let her through.
They even volunteered directions to her destination.
Robin thanked them, then followed their directions straight to the elevator.
She stepped out of the elevator.
She had reached the platform at the top of the fortress.
From where she stood, she looked out.
She could clearly see the entire island, and felt its strict security all the more keenly.
Robin lingered for a moment, then headed toward the Fleet Admiral's Office.
Just as she reached the entrance, the office door opened.
Carol appeared before Robin and asked with a smile:
"Finished looking around?"
"Come in."
Robin nodded slightly and followed him inside.
The furnishings were actually quite simple. Aside from a huge sand table and a world map hanging on the wall, there were only two sofas and the desks where Carol and Sakazuki worked.
Sakazuki, however, was not in the room.
Robin's attention was immediately drawn to the map and the sand table.
Even with her vague understanding of the war, a glance at the sand table and map made the current state of the entire world clear to her.
Carol returned to his desk, poured a glass of water, and handed it to Robin.
"Make yourself comfortable."
Robin accepted the water and thanked him, then asked hesitantly:
"These... am I allowed to look at them?"
She meant the huge sand table and the world map.
