Ch. 101Akainu captures the dragon (Part One)

Ch. 103Akainu Captures the Dragon (End)

King fought Carol while trying to reach Kaido, but Sakazuki subdued Kaido and prepared to take him to Punk Hazard. King escaped beyond the horizon as Sakazuki turned his attack on the fleeing Beasts Pirates.

  • King and Carol traded powerful attacks, and King’s earlier injuries worsened during their fight.

  • King threatened a subordinate and ordered his men to spend their treasure buying information about Kaido.
  • Kaido brought Queen to a restaurant, woke him by dunking him in liquor, and asked whether his technology could replace lungs.

  • Buggy begged Roger’s crew to stop the fight, but Crocus said Roger was in excellent shape and Rayleigh reminded Buggy that Roger would not be talked out of his decisions.
  • Roger rejected Golden Lion’s offer to rule the world together, and the two captains began fighting as Golden Lion’s fleet and beasts attacked.

On Jaya Island, Dragon investigated the scholars’ deaths, discovered CP0’s involvement, and took a booklet titled “Oppression and Resistance.” Elsewhere, Sakazuki sent Bullet’s squad to attack Golden Lion’s forces while preparing fake newspapers to spread a false account of Golden Lion’s defeat.

  • Sakazuki erased the deserted island crime scene by forcing its magma into the sea, then flew to rendezvous with Bullet.
  • Dragon arrived on Jaya Island with Navy forces and learned from Spandine that they had been ordered to arrest a group of scholars.

The Golden Lion learned his territories were under attack and rushed to stop the rumor, as Charlotte Linlin headed toward Hale Nock’s forces.

Sakazuki manipulated Hale Nock and Charlotte Linlin into fighting, then helped Hale Nock land a Seastone dagger strike on Charlotte Linlin before escaping. The chapter left Charlotte Linlin weakened and furious as she turned her attack on the fleeing Hale Nock.

  • Charlotte Linlin attacked Hale Nock, who fought back with steam giants while Sakazuki waited for an opening.
  • Sakazuki charged at the falling Charlotte Linlin, but Hale Nock revealed his betrayal and attacked Sakazuki with a Seastone dagger.

Meanwhile, young Marshall D. Teach planned to seek the Munch-Munch Fruit, Garp went looking for Dragon, and Dragon arrived at a North Blue kingdom whose peaceful appearance concealed widespread bodily mutilation.

  • Carol reported that Big Mom and Golden Lion had devastated Hale Nock's territory, while new-generation pirates seized the central lands and operations as a buffer zone.
  • Sakazuki ordered Carol to monitor Dragon and the scholars, plant artificially aged papers, use Enel to track magnetic fields, and report pirates with a D in their names.

Ch. 117Dragon's experiences

Dragon traveled to Pado Island to deliver Norman Brian’s belongings to his grandmother, recalling how Brian had entrusted them to him before sacrificing himself to protect the History Scholars. Dragon left the scholars’ fate and Brian’s family behind him as he stood outside the courtyard gate beneath the ginkgo tree.

  • Dragon asked a man in a deck chair where Norman Brian lived and learned that Brian’s home was in the northwest corner of town, beside a huge ginkgo tree.
  • Months earlier on Jaya Island, Dragon met the wounded Norman Brian, who explained that his search for the truth was driven by the government’s and Celestial Dragons’ abuses against his people.
  • Brian gave Dragon a box for his grandmother, Mary Candice, and asked him to tell her that he would not be coming home.
  • Brian drew the soldiers away from the History Scholars, and Dragon later used a fierce wind to carry the scholars away after they boarded their ship.
  • Dragon arrived at Brian’s courtyard on Pado Island and raised his hand toward the closed gate.

Ch. 118Trial implementation of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system

Borsalino defeated Cyclone Nigel at Ligal Island while Crocodile set sail after reading about a major battle. Dragon left Brian’s home without telling the old woman the truth, and the chapter ended as Fleet Admiral Kong began a meeting about trialing the Seven Warlords of the Sea system.

  • Borsalino fought and defeated Cyclone Nigel, destroying the pirates’ ship and leaving Nigel barely alive.

Ch. 119Crocodile, utterly outclassed

Fleet Admiral Kong approved Crocodile as the first Shichibukai candidate, and Sakazuki went to confront him at Sabaody. Bullet charged through Crocodile’s sand attacks and struck him, leaving the fight unresolved.

  • Fleet Admiral Kong explained Crocodile’s qualifications and the limits of the Shichibukai’s privileges, and the senior officers accepted the plan.
  • Sakazuki agreed to approach Crocodile and said he would teach him a lesson.
  • Sakazuki learned that Crocodile was in the Sabaody Archipelago under Cipher Pol surveillance and ordered his vessel to speed up.

Ch. 120The Navy's Big Bad

Bullet defeated Crocodile and brought him before Sakazuki, who offered him a chance to serve the Marines and seek revenge on Hale Nock. The chapter ended with Sakazuki crushing Crocodile underfoot and overwhelming him with Conqueror’s Haki.

  • Crocodile attacked Bullet with enormous sand waves and compressed him inside an eroding sand sphere.
  • Bullet burst out of the sand sphere, broke Crocodile’s limbs, and carried him through the Lawless Zone monument toward Sakazuki.
