Background / History

Mu Ye leads the declining Body Sect and has traveled widely searching for disciples. His disciple A Ruheng has cultivated the sect’s Innate Secret Technique in seclusion since childhood. Mu Ye also possesses sect-master-only historical records concerning the loss of the Body Secret Art 36 37 40.

According to Mu Ye’s account, former sect master Du Busi entrusted the Body Secret Art to someone from Shrek ten thousand years earlier. Mu Ye suspects that recipient was Huo Yuhao, but acknowledges that the records are incomplete. He believes Shrek retained the inheritance, forcing later Body Sect generations to reconstruct their secret techniques. This grievance underlies his hostility toward Shrek and his initial resistance to Han Tianyi’s proposed “Academy Path” 37 40.

Mu Ye has lost origin essence and hopes to restore it through immortal herbs. Han Tianyi considers his talent sufficient to have potentially reached Limit Douluo had he not taken a wrong turn in cultivation. Before recruiting Han Tianyi for the expedition, Mu Ye had already researched and secretly scouted possible locations of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 41 46.

Personality

Mu Ye is intensely invested in the Body Sect’s survival. On learning of Su Xun’s talent, he immediately assumes Han Tianyi has found him a disciple. Seeing the Six Desires Immortal sends him into an extravagant, drunken fantasy of recruiting Hu Jie and Zhen Hua, outfitting a group of protectors with divine-grade mechas, and confronting Leng Yaozhu 37 38.

Despite his attachment to sect rules, he can make exceptions. He authorizes Su Xun to learn the Body Secret Art without joining the Body Sect, accepting the boy’s promise of future assistance primarily because he trusts Han Tianyi’s judgment 38.

His concern for younger cultivators takes precedence over his own recovery. During the herb expedition, he places Su Xun’s awakening first, A Ruheng’s cultivation second, and his own needs last. Afterward, he plans to study combinations of spiritual ingredients that could benefit both boys 47 50.
