Ch. 213Wheels gone astray

An Artificial Lifeform realized Roche and Teacher planned to use him as material for magecraft-capable Golems, so he broke out of his tank to escape death. Meanwhile, Jack inherited some of Sagara Hyoma’s Master abilities and helped Reika Rikudou summon Avenger of Black, Gawain.

  • The Artificial Lifeform understood that Roche and Teacher intended to consume him to add Magic Circuits to Golems and decided to escape.
  • He activated his Magic Circuits, shattered the tank’s reinforced glass, and crawled into the outside world.
  • Sagara Hyoma summoned Jack the Ripper, but Jack seized his Command Spells, killed him, and contracted with Reika Rikudou.

  • Jeanne d'Arc identified herself as the Arbiter and prepared to defend herself against Karna.
  • Karna charged Jeanne d'Arc, but Siegfried arrived and struck him before he could release his Noble Phantasm.
  • Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia introduced himself as Siegfried's Master and urged Jeanne d'Arc to retaliate against Karna.

Ch. 216Clashing sword and spear

Karna and Siegfried fought a fierce duel, with Gordes and Jeanne d'Arc watching from a safe distance. Karna discovered that Siegfried's wounds healed rapidly despite his powerful attacks, while Siegfried realized Karna's spear strikes had enough force to overcome his defenses.

  • Jeanne d'Arc declined Gordes's invitation to stay at Yggdmillennia Castle, explaining that she could detect battles across Trifas.
  • After Gordes and Siegfried left, Jeanne d'Arc examined the battlefield and realized that the damage had been collateral from a clash that neither side had treated as a serious fight.
  • Jeanne d'Arc reconsidered whether she had been summoned to oversee an abnormal war or to prevent a catastrophe threatening the world, and she prayed for the latter not to be true.

Ch. 220The rebel advances

Sovell sent Chiron and the Black Faction’s forces to test Red Berserker with a wave of Automatons, while three Red Faction Servants watched from hiding. Red Berserker destroyed the entire force and kept advancing, laughing as he fought for his rebellion.

  • Red Archer's unseen arrow struck Sovell's chest, but Sovell had caught it in a whirlwind and tricked Red Rider into charging.
  • Red Rider recognized Sovell as a formidable warrior, but relied on his divine protection against physical attacks.
  • The chapter revealed that Red Rider was Achilles, whose divine armor and shield were forged by Hephaestus.

Ch. 223Eternity, a Sea of Fire, Hell

Ch. 224Declaration of Breaking

Astolfo recognized Red Avenger as Kriemhild and used his Noble Phantasm, Declaration of Breaking, to counter her Reality Marble and fight through her flame soldiers. At the main camp, Red Berserker kept mutating and healing, while Avicebron realized Astolfo might be in danger after hearing that Berserker had swallowed Rider.

  • Astolfo identified Red Avenger as Kriemhild after realizing her flames and isolated battlefield formed a Reality Marble.
  • Kriemhild summoned flame soldiers and ordered them to kill Astolfo.
  • Astolfo released Declaration of Breaking, which countered Kriemhild's Reality Marble and let him destroy her soldiers while advancing toward her.
  • Black Saber Siegfried, Black Archer Chiron, and Black Caster Avicebron attacked Red Berserker, but he healed and mutated into a larger, many-limbed monster.
  • Chiron warned that Red Berserker's magic power was rising, and Avicebron heard him indicate that he had swallowed Rider.

Ch. 225A Warrior's Response

  • Siegfried recognized Spartacus’s courage and continued fighting him with respect.
  • Chiron warned Saber that Spartacus was gathering power for an attack equivalent to an A+ rank anti-city Noble Phantasm, and Saber chose to stop it with his Noble Phantasm.
  • Spartacus fired a vast torrent of magic power at Yggdmillennia Castle, and Siegfried’s Balmung split it to create a safe passage around the castle.

Ch. 227The world's hero, the champion of the weak

Siegfried reflected on how he had spent his first life fulfilling others’ wishes until betrayal and death, then received a second life and met a Holy Knight whose words helped him choose his own ideals. He resolved to aid the weak and become their champion, even when no one asked him.

  • Siegfried had answered every plea for victory, leaving him without personal hopes or ideals despite being praised as a hero.
  • Siegfried won the Queen of Iceland for the king and received the king’s sister as his wife, but the women’s rivalry exposed the deception behind the queen’s conquest.

Ch. 229A name, a true name

The newly reborn Artificial Lifeform chose the name Sieg, and Astolfo gave him a sword before leaving him free to decide how to live. Meanwhile, Achilles and Sovell continued their fierce battle in the forest, with Sovell using his Authority over wind and motion to match Achilles’s speed and maneuverability.

Ch. 231An Arbiter, Not a Referee

Jeanne d'Arc discovered that both factions had summoned Avenger-Class Servants, making the war eight against eight, and that one Black Faction Servant was missing from Yggdmillennia Castle. Exhausted but determined to investigate, she went to the castle, where Darnic welcomed her and offered to take her to meet their king.

  • Jeanne d'Arc examined the battlefield and identified traces of an Avenger-Class Servant, then deduced that each faction had one and that the war involved sixteen Servants.
  • Jeanne d'Arc sensed only five Servants at Yggdmillennia Castle and failed to locate the missing sixth Black Faction Servant.
