The Real Synopsis:

My name is Soviel Pendragon.

Although my surname is Pendragon, I don't actually have much of a blood connection to the true Pendragon royal family...

I might share the tiniest bit of blood with my king, but that's neither here nor there.

After finishing my training under Merlin, she and I... and Kay, too, traveled far and wide together.

Later, she became king, and I pledged my loyalty to her. There was a small mishap along the way, but as I said, that's neither here nor there.

After that came quelling rebellions, striking down the descendants of gods, slaying the White Dragon, and campaigning against Rome... She fought countless battles, and I fought in countless battles beside her. We never lost a single one.

Except, of course, the last.

Perhaps that is what they call fate.

But it doesn't matter.

Britain... and her people.

I kept them safe.

At least, if I meet my royal father in Avalon, I can tell him with a clear conscience:

"I did not fail to live up to the hopes you once placed in me."

Author's Note:

Anyone who has looked into the subject knows just how tangled the legends of King Arthur are. With that in mind, this book will introduce some of my own lore while keeping things as coherent and plausible as possible.
