Hearing Zero's answer, Lü Yongchang sank into thought.
As the largest plain on Mars, Utopia Plain had a staggering diameter of 3,200 kilometers.
By comparison, the distance between the two farthest points in Xia Country was only 5,621 kilometers.
Searching such a vast area for traces of underground life was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"Zero, can you narrow the area down any further?"
Lü Yongchang asked softly, "I remember the United States launched quite a few Mars probes in the past. Didn't they conduct a more thorough survey of Utopia Plain?"
"Professor, that will take some time," Zero replied.
Lü Yongchang nodded slightly. "Start searching. Time isn't an issue."
"Professor, the results you requested are ready."
Half an hour later, Zero's synthesized voice woke Lü Yongchang.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the computer screen before him.
The satellite map of Mars had zoomed in further.
Lü Yongchang paused at the sight of several silvery-white dots on the map.
An odd thought slowly surfaced in his mind.
"Zero?"
"That wouldn't be the Americans' Mars Module, would it?"
Zero quickly confirmed his suspicion.
"That's correct, Professor."
"According to the information I found, the area within a two-kilometer radius of the Mars Module is the most likely place on Mars to show signs of life."
Lü Yongchang frowned slightly and asked quietly, "Why?"
Zero promptly brought up some data on Lü Yongchang's computer.
"Professor, this area is the Many-Valley Region."
"The three astronauts in the Pathfinder Program confirmed that large quantities of subsurface ice exist one to ten meters below the ground here."
"Although Utopia Plain as a whole has relatively abundant subsurface ice reserves, the concentration in this area is roughly twenty percent higher than in the surrounding areas."
Lü Yongchang studied the lines
