Arc 9The Asteroid Interception

Lü Yongchang advanced medical nano-robots, asteroid mining, and new weapons while Proxima Centauri’s people rebelled to secure a place in their rulers’ escape plan. When an asteroid threatened Mars, the Federation tested its electromagnetic coilguns and miniature nuclear shells, leaving Zero to destroy the incoming fragments.

  • Lü Yongchang used Medical Nano-Robots to cure Bai Yixuan and Lin Hongsheng, while Marus No. 12 learned that Proxima Centauri’s rulers planned to abandon most of the population when their star died.
  • Marus No. 12 shared the escape plan with Aquitas and her father, who helped spread the warning, and Levi led a rebellion that seized the Hatching Center and demanded that everyone be included in the starship evacuation.
  • Lü Yongchang developed Mining Nano-Robots, which Bart and his crew tested successfully on Psyche, then organized research into energy weapons and electromagnetic guns.
  • Lü Yongchang and Yevgeny abandoned the railgun after tests exposed its flaws and developed an electromagnetic coilgun, while Yevgeny proposed miniature nuclear bombs for its projectiles.
  • Zero warned that an asteroid would strike Mars, and Lü Yongchang chose to equip a Luan Bird Starship with five electromagnetic coilguns to intercept it.
  • Zhao Zijie and Gao Yang began firing at the asteroid, but after their initial shots missed, Zero adjusted the weapons and a projectile struck and detonated.
  • Lü Yongchang ordered all five cannons to fire, and Zero switched to rapid fire as the asteroid broke apart and its fragments were blasted.

Arc 10Weapons and Titan’s Seas

Lü Yongchang developed new weapons and secured helium-3 from Jupiter as humanity prepared to leave Mars. On Titan, Zhao Zijie’s team discovered jellyfish living in connected seas and carried out a plan to kill them, then departed for Heavenly Court.

  • Lü Yongchang oversaw tests of laser and ion beam weapons, then revived missile development and tasked Qian Zhengyang with building long-range missiles and nuclear weapons.
  • After lunar helium-3 production collapsed, Lü Yongchang adopted Su Yutong’s Jupiter collection plan, and ten ships successfully began extracting helium-3 in orbit.
  • Lü Yongchang redirected resources toward Titan’s hydrocarbons, and Zhao Zijie and Gao Yang landed there to install methane extraction equipment.
  • A storm drove jellyfish onto the Luan Bird, and Lü Yongchang learned that they sensed heat and could be lured by it.
  • After captured jellyfish died in the breeding room, Zhao Zijie and Gao Yang sent robots into Kraken-Mare and discovered a chasm and a cryovolcano connecting it to Titan’s Inner Sea.
  • Lü Yongchang abandoned the breeding plan and ordered the jellyfish data preserved, while Zhao Zijie carried out a culling plan with Black Lady Two craft and a heated basin.
  • Zhao Zijie and the other pilots left Titan aboard a Glutton to meet Heavenly Court near Jupiter, and smaller jellyfish later gathered around the abandoned equipment before returning to the sea.

Arc 11The Battle for Proxima Centauri

After discovering that an advanced civilization had drained the Sun, Lü Yongchang led humanity’s fleet toward Proxima Centauri, where a rival civilization was also preparing to flee its dying star. The humans’ opening strikes crippled Proxima b’s defenses, but a concealed counterattack devastated the 120 [Golden Crow] Battleships before Lü Yongchang’s reinforcements arrived.

  • Venus fell into the Sun, and Lü Yongchang’s simulations suggested Jupiter might grow into a brown dwarf after capturing the Sun’s ejected matter.
  • Lü Yongchang discovered a 3,000-kilometer artificial sphere harvesting the Sun’s mass, then led the fleet to the Kuiper Belt to rescue survivors from the Luan Bird starships before entering hibernation.
  • Awakened in 2096, Lü Yongchang learned that Proxima Centauri was also being drained and that the fleet had to continue there because it lacked supplies to reach another star.
  • On Proxima Centauri, Levi joined Augustus’s Academy of Sciences after securing ten ship places for people he chose, then oversaw preparations for war and evacuation.
  • After the human fleet reached Proxima Centauri, Lü Yongchang appointed Zhao Zijie commander of the First Fleet and declared war before ordering a surprise bombardment of Proxima b.
  • The human fleet’s repeated attacks damaged Proxima b’s defenses, but Augustus and Levi deployed Micro-Probes that found the human ships and enabled a Proxima Centauri counterattack.
  • Zhao Zijie’s fleets destroyed fifty enemy ships before Levi retreated, but Augustus drew the humans toward Proxima b, where Giant Flares revealed a concealed force of 5,181 enemy ships.
  • The Proxima Centauri fleet and defenses overwhelmed the 120 [Golden Crow] Battleships, destroying more than half of them before Lü Yongchang’s reinforcements arrived and struck the enemy flagship with Micro Nuclear Bombs.

Arc 12The Proxima Campaign

Humanity defeated Proxima b’s defenses with asteroid-dust smoke bombs, then investigated the underground cities and discovered the civilization’s biotechnology. Lü Yongchang developed a possible longevity enzyme as the Head Councillor neared death, leaving its first human use under consideration.

  • Bai Yixuan and the human fleets destroyed the Proxima Centauri flagship and pressed toward Proxima b, but powerful ground-based lasers forced Lü Yongchang to halt the assault.
  • Lü Yongchang used hydrogen-bomb smoke shells packed with asteroid dust to weaken the lasers, allowing the Golden Crow battleships to break the defenses and blockade Proxima b.
  • Nano-Robots entered the underground cities, where Augustus died and Lü Yongchang’s team discovered the Proxima Centauri people’s remains and records.
  • Lü Yongchang uncovered evidence of an oppressed clone class and ordered the cloning files erased, while allowing Mao Zhengzhi to study other biotechnology.
  • After learning the Head Councillor had less than a year to live, Lü Yongchang and Mao Zhengzhi examined Proxima Centauri bodies and found biological systems that resisted aging and cancer.
  • Lü Yongchang and Mao Zhengzhi mapped Proxima Centauri genes onto human genes, tested more than a hundred thousand sequences, and identified an enzyme they called the longevity enzyme.
  • When the Head Councillor’s condition worsened, Lü Yongchang explained the untested enzyme, and the Head Councillor insisted that he begin an experiment for humanity’s future.
