"They aren't going to make us take part in some kind of experiment, are they..."

Yana Gus glanced at the man. "Do you think you're worthy?"

"Hey!! You think I'm not worthy?"

Yana Gus turned away, not bothering to engage with him. The doors to the Empire's conference hall opened, drawing everyone's attention.

Nagus, the Empire's Governing Officer, entered in a long silver robe, followed closely by two Red-Clad Guards carrying boxes.

The open doors drew everyone's gaze, but inside the boxes the two guards carried, wristbands lit up and floated into the air, snapping onto everyone's wrists in full view of the crowd.

Before Nagus had said a word, the wristbands had already found their owners, and the hall grew even more chaotic.

"Shit, shit, shit! What is this thing!"

"Why won't it come off!"

Some people in the hall looked terrified, while others remained perfectly calm.

Refusing to concede, the man raised his arm to show his wristband and looked at Yana Gus. Something about this outwardly serene, lonely child drew him to her. "I told you we were here for an experiment!"

Yana Gus studied the silver wristband on her wrist. Her name appeared in orange Crystal Civilization script. Were they really here for an experiment? She was beginning to agree with the man, but she couldn't be bothered to voice that agreement.

[Hello, Yana Gus.]

Yana Gus looked at the wristband in surprise. "Huh!? Are you talking?"

The man was pondering what the wristband did, considering sawing off his hand to remove it. Hearing the voice beside him, he answered instinctively, "Who else would it be?"

But then he froze too, because he also heard a voice inside his head. Perhaps this was some kind of radio-wave device.
