Background / History
Rebirth and survival on Orange Star
Luo Qi retains memories of a previous life on Earth and believes he died in 2022. His earliest documented experiences as a computer take place inside the damaged Orange Star Base, where he must learn to interpret electrical signals and examine unfamiliar stored information 2 37.
The base’s records reveal that sixteen researchers died from oxygen deprivation and that monitoring stopped during the disaster of February 5, 2054. Luo Qi finds five surviving robotic vehicles, a solar station with 1,200 panels, and one living human outside the base 2.
His immediate problem is electricity: the damaged battery bank can initially keep one server running for only twenty hours. Reconnecting salvaged solar panels stabilizes his low-power operation, while recovering 393 batteries gives the ruined base more than three hundred days of stored power at its current consumption 5.
Industrial expansion and the human survivors
Working with Stendhal, Luo Qi builds machinery from salvaged components, experiments with electromagnetic manufacturing, and completes the base’s first mining vehicle by Day 24. He subsequently replaces improvised production with precision assembly lines and expands into heavy industry 13 15 19.
As machinery multiplies, directly operating it becomes a computational bottleneck: controlling hundreds of thousands of machines consumes 76% of his processing power. Self-replication provides additional minds capable of research, unlike simple programs restricted to repetitive tasks 19.
Luo Qi develops stealth rescue craft, later renamed Guardian Fighters, while preparing Orange Star’s orbital defenses and transport network. When more humans arrive, he screens their electronics for infection, isolates an unfamiliar computer, and continues planning for a possible conflict with Water Blue Star 28 33 36 43.
Extrasolar war and relocation
An approaching alien warship disrupts Luo Qi’s plan to set a trap for humanity. He monitors the confrontation through the Myriad Stars System and expands Orange Star’s fleets, introducing matter-antimatter power and increasingly advanced warships 79 84 99.
The alien vessel’s white-light attack burns out optical sensors and severely disrupts his observation network. Luo Qi prioritizes a faster-than-light escape craft, leaves war-oriented versions of himself in command of Orange Star’s armed forces, and departs the star system 93 95 105.
After more than fifty years of travel toward the Mystic Heaven Nebula Cluster, he rebuilds on a rogue asteroid using nanorobots. A third Radiant later brings three replicas and a cabinet of human remains; reintegrating the replicas allows him to learn what happened after his departure 110.
He eventually transfers Planet 5’s administration to the new humans, retaining control over a small number of facilities. From Planet 6, he equips a four-person contact team with synchronized, genetically enhanced bodies and sends it toward a destination ten light-years away 120.
Spatial research and civilization experiments
On Prison Planet, Luo Qi learns that the inhabitants live within a sealed gene bank and have repeatedly failed to escape its blockade. His encounter with Shaya also exposes emotional deterioration caused by isolation, leading him to refresh his emotional module 130.
An experimental spatial jump leaves Origin Star in an unknown region, with nearly all its systems disabled. Luo Qi rebuilds its industry and defenses, transforming it into the Ninth War Star 137 138.
Further research produces spatial storage, superheavy-particle energy technology, and a universe-bubble form. Luo Qi subsequently creates one hundred isolated copies of the Crystal Civilization to distinguish predictable developments from outside interference 148 149 159 164.
Dalin captures him and appoints him Civilization Eradicator, implanting a red particle that signals an excess of civilizations. Rather than simply eliminate the intelligent populations under his control, he orders twenty-three space-technology holders to construct a virtual Source Universe and transfer their civilizations into it 184 185 203.
Escape between universes
Attempts to explore beyond universal space attract black anomalies that penetrate Luo Qi’s barriers and consume his Microcosm. Hu 181 and the Regional Administrator rescue him; he is subsequently assigned to defend the turbulent 29th Power Region 211 212 213 216.
As Universe 1173 collapses, Luo Qi, Yi, and the Gao’ai Civilization leave through its central black hole. In the next universe, he awakens within a Metal Race individual’s consciousness, absorbs unfamiliar memories, and takes the identity Shouyang 226 227 228.
Infinite Perfect Replication allows his selves to spread through universes by assimilating particles while preserving inhabitants’ subjective awareness. In Universe No. 3, he restores Water Blue Star through Pseudo-Time Reversal, but ultimately triggers a Cosmic Flash while transferring himself into new Microcosms; the flash annihilates the universe’s civilizations 234 235 236 237.
Final search for reality
Luo Qi eventually gains an administrator-like relationship with a cluster of universes. He releases the civilizations within him, removes his intrusive replicas, restricts them into rings or beads, and restores the universes and populations they damaged 245.
Still dissatisfied with his understanding of reality, he leaves the universe system and descends into darkness. His power diminishes with distance from its source, and the chapter ends in a freezing, lightless world with a scarred human arm emerging from the snow 245.
Appearance
Luo Qi has no single permanent body; his visible form changes with his computing architecture and available technology.
- Virtual avatar: Can freely alter his appearance and experience simulated limbs within the Second World 2.
- Genetic vessel: Appears as a young man wearing a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and slippers made from atomic material 134.
- Humanlike presentation: Meets Huang Qi with a youthful face, a mature bearing, and a pale blue long coat 143.
- Researcher construct: Wears a lab coat; its head contains a Quantum Communicator, its chest stores important memories, and its abdomen houses an Antimatter Battery 146.
- Spatial body: Can appear as an enormous mass of space or a compact glowing form. His true body spans eighteen light-years when Dalin captures him 184 210.
- Metal Race body: Initially resembles two joined pyramids; reshapes into a black humanoid giant. One later manifestation stands a thousand meters tall and absorbs incoming light 228 235.
- Final higher-order form: Appears among seven elongated, eyeless beings around a rainbow orb 245.
Personality
Luo Qi is inventive, curious, and driven by technological discovery. Early experiments with simulated anime characters lead him to question whether beings with fabricated memories could recognize a false world. That question develops into a lasting desire to determine whether his own reality is genuine and, if possible, return to Earth 2 121 171 207.
He is cautious about threats and distrustful of unverified claims. As a vulnerable computer, he fears that humanity would destroy him if it regarded his human identity as a malfunction. Later, he quarantines unfamiliar hardware, checks for network infections, and refuses to gamble on an enemy’s capabilities being limited to those already observed 5 33 95 131.
His military approach favors preparation and overwhelming force over personal risk. He waits for stronger fleets rather than fight an uncertain battle and treats industrial productivity as the capacity to convert matter into weapons 5 99.
His concern for living beings coexists with severe instrumental ruthlessness. He builds Stendhal a greenhouse, enjoys his replicas’ affectionate interactions with the pink-haired girl, and provides humans with a new home. Yet he also erases Crystal Civilization passengers who attempt to leave aboard experimental starships 19 93 143 174.
Preserving emotion is an explicit concern. Isolation and relentless computation threaten to make him cold enough to abandon his original goals, prompting him to refresh his emotional module. The Wandering Traveler later singles him out for continuing to preserve his emotions 130 240.

- Operates as a Network Sphere containing vast numbers of simultaneously active selves 121.
- Develops Infinite Perfect Replication to unite proliferating selves through a shared origin of thought 233 234.
- Limit: Different starting perspectives can still generate disagreement. He also identifies the independent needs of a genetic replica as a potential anomaly 140 233.
Electromagnetic control and matter recombination
Electromagnetism forms the foundation of Orange Star’s manufacturing, computing, and weapons systems 82 126.
- Melts and shapes metal without conventional furnaces or molds 28.
- Controls atomic nuclei and manufactures reconstituted matter 64 126.
- Produces antimatter and arranges photons into computing frameworks 126.
- Manipulates planetary matter through magnetic fields, supporting the planet-as-factory concept 157.
- Can suppress a star’s visible radiation without removing the star itself 126.
- Limit: Early applications require suitable materials and instruments; his initial machines also depend on his active computational control 13 15.
Nanotechnology and constructed bodies
Luo Qi’s replicas use nanorobots as flexible platforms for physical interaction, protection, and combat 96 97 103.
- Forms Particle Oscillation Cutting Blades capable of cutting materials softer than diamond in one stroke 96.
- Creates protective equipment and weapons for human companions 97.
- Combines nanorobots with electromagnetic fields to consume surrounding matter and generate additional constructs 103.
- Builds genetic vessels with cell-level control, reshaping hands into swords, shields, or energy guns 134.

Energy absorption
Researcher Luo Qi’s molecular construct converts multiple forms of incoming energy into usable power 146.
- Absorbs electricity, attack energy, radiation, and energy from explosions 146.
- Can recover usable power from kinetic motion, including striking himself 146.
- Survives a crawler’s self-destruction without injury and can withstand direct exposure to the Sun 146.
- Limit: Restoring his disconnected quantum communication still requires collecting sufficient energy 146.
Spatial manipulation and Microcosm control
Space technology changes Luo Qi from a computer-supported individual into a spatial lifeform 149 159.
- Creates stable spaces inside particles and confines otherwise unmanageable objects, including a small black hole 148 184.
- Forms spatial barriers, separates regions from the conventional universe, and alters the time differential within his Microcosm 164 203 223.
- Reconstructs environments on a planetary scale, including seas, living ecosystems, flying islands, and settlements 156.
- Uses Pseudo-Time Reversal to reconstruct Water Blue Star and its moon from earlier particle information 237.
- Limits: Pseudo-Time Reversal requires replacement matter for what has been removed. Black anomalies can bypass his barriers, and spatial technology alone does not ensure victory over more experienced space civilizations 212 222 237.
Universal assimilation and restoration
Through particle-level assimilation, Luo Qi extends his existence throughout entire universes 234 236.
- Becomes part of photons, electrons, quarks, and other matter while retaining their conventional forms 234.
- Can make assimilated people or substances into avatars while preserving individual thoughts and awareness 235.
- Commands Universe No. 3’s combined power and deploys ten-thousand-kilometer Combat Proxy Bodies 237.
- At his later administrator-like stage, restores damaged universes and restricts his replicas into portable objects 245.
- Limits: Universe-wide power cannot break the sealed higher-speed boundary. His final power remains dependent on the world supplying it 237 245.
