Outside Konoha, by the river.
For once, the entire little group had gathered again.
Genya, Sasuke, Nami, Hinata, Ino, and Naruto.
The picnic blanket was covered with snacks, drinks, and prepared ingredients.
Nami, Hinata, and Ino sat side by side on the picnic blanket, chattering and laughing, their eyes occasionally drifting toward Genya as he worked by the river.
At the riverbank, Sasuke and Naruto each held a crude fishing rod. They squatted on rocks several yards apart, staring unblinkingly at the floats in the water.
Clearly, though, fishing did not have their full attention.
"Dead last, you're scaring all the fish away with your fidgeting!"
Sasuke frowned, growling at Naruto in irritation.
Seeing Naruto being so restless always made him want to say something.
"Who are you calling dead last?! Stuck-up Sasuke!"
Naruto immediately jumped up to protest like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
"You're just bad at fishing! My float moved just now! You scared my fish away by talking!"
"Idiot! You're the one making all the noise!"
"Jerk! You started it!"
"Want to fight?"
"Bring it on! I'm not scared of you!"
They immediately dropped their rods and glared at each other, looking ready to launch into a pathetic little brawl.
Over on the picnic blanket, the three girls burst out laughing.
Genya shook his head helplessly, rose from the grill he was setting up, dusted off his hands, and walked over. He planted one hand on each of the two heads that were about to butt together.
"All right, you two. We're here to have a picnic and relax today, not duel."
Genya vigorously ruffled their blond and black hair, then pushed them back onto their rocks.
"Get back to fishing. If you don't catch anything, you won't have any grilled fish tonight."
