The two candidates sat in their respective seats, wearing remarkably identical expressions of bewilderment.

Naruto was stunned by his parents' intensity.

He knew his mother was committed, but he had never imagined she would go this far.

Kushina's sharp remarks had just left a jonin across from her speechless. Naruto had never known his mother could argue so well.

Itachi sat beside Shisui, his expression calm.

But there was a barely perceptible helplessness in his eyes.

As he watched his clansmen, colleagues, and supporters across from him arguing on his behalf until their faces flushed, warmth filled his heart.

But he felt that anyone could take the position of Hokage.

Genya, meanwhile, was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.

"Ino, look how well the Third and the Fourth Hokage work together. Master and student, backing each other up. The other side can't even get a word in."

Ino followed his gaze. Sure enough, the moment the Third finished speaking, Minato picked up seamlessly.

She had to admit that this was quite entertaining.

Kaguya looked at Hashirama, then at Genya.

"Aren't you going to say something?"

Genya shook his head and sighed.

"If I speak, they'll all stop arguing. Where's the fun in that?"

Kaguya asked no more questions and continued watching the show.

Jiraiya finally recovered from his shock and looked at the jonin locked in their heated argument.

"You aren't going to help either side?"

Tsunade snorted.

"Neither. What does it matter to me who becomes Hokage? I'm already retired."

Jiraiya turned to Orochimaru, who drew his gaze away from the crowd.

"I'd like to help. But whom would I help?"

Jiraiya thought about it. That was true; neither side needed his help.

The arguing in the meeting room lasted all morning. By the midday break, everyone's voice had gone hoarse.
