Ch. 1The Catastrophe Starting from the Annihilation of Sakura!

Fan Shang survived for a week inside the Black Tide with a black cat he called Senior, while the world outside collapsed and specters hunted the trapped survivors. As supplies dwindled, Liang You approached him with an unclear request.

  • Fan Shang fed Senior half a sausage and guarded his remaining food from the wary survivors around him.
  • Fan Shang recalled how the Black Tide and the Yogada flower had brought about Japan’s destruction before swallowing Orange City and trapping him and his schoolmates.
  • Fan Shang observed the three Sequence Transcendents who had protected the convoy from a specter, envying their ability to fight back.
  • Liang You approached Fan Shang, and Fan Shang ordered him to keep his distance before asking what he wanted.
  • Liang You began asking whether Fan Shang could help him, but the chapter ended before he explained his request.

Ch. 2Campus belle: How could you be so selfish?!

Fan Shang refused Liang You and Wang Xiaoxue’s attempts to get his supplies, protecting what little he had for himself and Little Black. After Wang Xiaoxue accused him of selfishness, Fan Shang coldly told them to get lost.

  • Liang You asked Fan Shang to lend him supplies, but Fan Shang threatened him with a raised cleaver and refused.
  • Little Black alerted Fan Shang as Liang You returned with Wang Xiaoxue, who berated Liang for failing to secure food.
  • Wang Xiaoxue urged Liang You to take Fan Shang’s supplies, but Liang hesitated and Fan Shang refused his renewed request.
  • Wang Xiaoxue called Fan Shang selfish and demanded supplies, and Fan Shang told both of them to get lost.

Ch. 3No worries, be more careful in your next life!

Fan Shang refused to lend Wang Xiaoxue supplies, and she rallied the convoy against him before demanding his cat as food. When Liang You reached for Little Black, Fan Shang cut off four of his fingers and prepared to kill him.

  • Fan Shang refused Wang Xiaoxue's request for supplies and warned her away with his bone cleaver.
  • Wang Xiaoxue accused Fan Shang of threatening her and persuaded much of the convoy that he should share his supplies.
  • Wang Xiaoxue proposed slaughtering Little Black for the convoy, and the crowd supported her demand.
  • Wang Xiaoxue ordered Liang You to take the cat, and he reached for Little Black despite hesitating.
  • Little Black meowed, and Fan Shang swiftly cut off four of Liang You's fingers before declaring that no one could touch his cat.

Ch. 4How Dare That Damned Horror Impersonate My Classmate?

Fan Shang killed Liang You and Wang Xiaoxue after they threatened his cat, dismissing Wang Xiaoxue’s pleas and accusations. He saw that the sequence transcendents at the front of the convoy had no intention of intervening, confirming his gamble that they would not punish him.

  • Fan Shang repeatedly struck Liang You with a bone cleaver until he was dead and decapitated him.
  • Fan Shang approached Wang Xiaoxue, who begged for her life and offered herself in exchange for being spared.
  • Wang Xiaoxue shouted to the crowd that Fan Shang was killing her over an animal and warned that the sequence transcendents would come after him.
  • Fan Shang called Wang Xiaoxue a horror impersonating his classmate and killed her, earning 500 survival points.
  • Fan Shang noticed the sequence transcendents had not intervened and recalled that they had shown little concern for the convoy’s survivors.

Ch. 5Death-Announcing System: My Name Is Fan Shang, and by the Time You Read This, I Will Already Be...

Fan Shang killed Wang Xiaoxue after realizing she was an eerie entity, then used his Death-Announcing System’s warning to claim survival points and raise his physique beyond the human limit. He wondered how to awaken a Sequence as a piercing scream erupted near the front of the crowd.

  • Fan Shang left Wang Xiaoxue’s body and rode away with Little Black after the crowd dispersed.
  • Fan Shang opened his system and read a death warning that said sparing Wang Xiaoxue would lead to an ambush and his death.
  • Fan Shang claimed 500 survival points for killing Wang Xiaoxue and evading the lethal crisis.
  • Fan Shang spent 500 survival points to increase his physique from 10 to 11, but did not awaken a Sequence.
  • Fan Shang looked toward three people at the front of the crowd, and someone screamed.

Ch. 6An uncanny attack

After Fan Shang killed the two thieves, Liu Tie, Zhou Ping, and Lin Xue discussed the convoy’s next route and decided they needed to move on. An uncanny entity attacked, killing a nearby man, and Fan Shang fled by bicycle as the convoy pulled away, leaving many people behind.

  • Zhou Ping praised Fan Shang’s ruthlessness, while Liu Tie said the thieves had deserved to die for stealing supplies.
  • Lin Xue urged Liu Tie to plan a new route because the convoy had stayed too long in one place.
  • As Liu Tie checked the map, he sensed an uncanny entity and shouted for the convoy to move out.
  • Liu Tie, Zhou Ping, and Lin Xue rushed into their vehicles and drove away as an uncanny entity rapidly drained a nearby man.
  • Fan Shang put Little Black in the basket and pedaled after the convoy while some survivors fled and others refused to leave.

Ch. 7Compound-Eyed Sunflower, escape

A Compound-Eyed Sunflower and Infant Wraith attacked the fleeing survivors, killing nearly half the convoy before the rest escaped after four hours. Fan Shang survived with Little Black’s help and was left determined to become a Sequence Transcendent, though he still did not know how.

  • A spectral Infant Wraith drained a man to death, revealing itself to the terrified survivors.
  • A Compound-Eyed Sunflower chased the crowd, firing living human-head seeds that shattered bodies and attacked cars.
  • Fan Shang escaped on his bicycle after Little Black warned him of a seed that struck the cliff beside him.
  • After four hours of flight, the convoy stopped, with nearly fifty of its original hundred people dead.
  • Fan Shang recovered from the ride and wondered how he could become a Sequence Transcendent.

Ch. 8The corpse in the flowers

Fan Shang used Survival Points to upgrade his instant noodles and shared food with Little Black as the convoy continued through the mist. When the survivors spotted supplies beside a flower-covered corpse, Liu Tie called it an obvious trap and ordered the convoy to move on.

  • Fan Shang upgraded his instant noodles, ate some, and noted that his saved Survival Points would help him survive while supplies were scarce.
  • Little Black approached Fan Shang for food, and he gave the cat half a sausage before the convoy set off again.
  • The convoy spotted a skeleton covered in flowers with a backpack full of supplies among its arms.
  • The survivors argued over whether to take the backpack, while Manager Huang asked Liu Tie what to do.
  • Liu Tie refused to risk taking the supplies and ordered the convoy to move out.

Ch. 9Cat-Faced Ghost

Liu Tie left the survivors behind, while Fan Shang watched a college student risk entering a flower patch for supplies. A cat-faced ghost emerged from the bag and killed the old woman, leaving the remaining survivors facing the creature.

  • Liu Tie refused to help the survivors and drove away with his companions, prompting the others to follow or remain behind.
  • An old woman persuaded Yi Hang to retrieve a supply bag from beside a corpse in a flower patch.
  • Yi Hang took the bag and returned unharmed, while the survivors watched greedily.
  • The old woman snatched the bag and began rummaging through it as her grandson demanded meat.
  • A tail-like appendage pierced the old woman's head, and a cat-faced ghost appeared inside the bag and meowed.

Ch. 10Cat-Faced Ghost: All right~ Let's eat meat!

The Cat-Faced Ghost emerged from the supply bag and attacked the fleeing survivors, while Fan Shang escaped ahead of the convoy. The young woman abandoned her boyfriend to the ghost, and the remaining survivors eventually shook off the chase as Fan Shang caught up with the slower convoy members.

  • Little Black warned Fan Shang about the supply bag, so he fled before the Cat-Faced Ghost emerged and killed the old man.
  • The Cat-Faced Ghost killed the grandson after he demanded meat, then pursued the fleeing survivors.
  • The young woman threw her boyfriend off their scooter, and the Cat-Faced Ghost killed him as she escaped.
  • The young woman's scooter passed five survivors, who were killed, buying time for the others to escape the Cat-Faced Ghost.
  • Fan Shang caught up with the slower members of the convoy while the Sequence Transcendents remained farther ahead.

Ch. 11You Died Because You Didn't Hack My Head Apart! (Part One)

Fan Shang escaped the Cat-Faced Ghost’s pursuit and faced survivors who wanted to take his supplies, while Jiang Yu became the target of their threats. Just as he ignored her plea for help, Little Black sensed danger and a bloody message appeared in Fan Shang’s vision, describing his death and warning that he should have hacked Wang Xiaoxue’s head apart.

  • Fan Shang caught up with the group and saw that Jiang Yu had survived, though her boyfriend was gone.
  • Fan Shang refused to surrender his supplies when other survivors approached, and they turned their attention to Jiang Yu instead.
  • A tall, skinny classmate threatened Jiang Yu, and she fell as the crowd closed in; Fan Shang and the fat guy did not help her.
  • Little Black bristled, and Fan Shang saw a bloody message claiming he was dead and naming Wang Xiaoxue and Little Li.

Ch. 12Your cause of death was not smashing my head to pieces! (Part two)

Fan Shang learned that Wang Xiaoxue would kill him, but the Compound-Eyed Sunflower attacked the survivors before he could escape. Wang Xiaoxue’s transformed head caught up with him, leaving him face-to-face with the monster he had failed to destroy.

  • Fan Shang saw the Death-Announcing System name Wang Xiaoxue as his cause of death and tried to flee.
  • The Compound-Eyed Sunflower emerged from the woods and killed survivors who had been threatening Jiang Yu.
  • Jiang Yu, Fan Shang, and the other survivors fled as the Compound-Eyed Sunflower pursued them.
  • Wang Xiaoxue’s severed head launched from the Compound-Eyed Sunflower’s flower disk and followed Fan Shang.
  • Wang Xiaoxue’s grotesque head confronted Fan Shang and blamed him for her death.

Ch. 13At death's door-Hajime had lost!

Fan Shang was chased by Wang Xiaoxue and the Compound-Eyed Sunflower until Wang Xiaoxue pierced his shoulder and drained his strength. Little Black tried to save him but was thrown aside, leaving Fan Shang near death and Little Black badly wounded.

  • Fan Shang fled the Compound-Eyed Sunflower as it sent heads after the survivors, while Wang Xiaoxue continued pursuing him.
  • A fat man fought off two lackeys who tried to throw him from his tricycle, killing one and kicking the other away.
  • Wang Xiaoxue tricked Fan Shang into turning toward a head thrown by the Compound-Eyed Sunflower, then launched herself at him and pierced his shoulder.
  • Fan Shang hacked at Wang Xiaoxue with his bone cleaver, but she healed while draining his blood and leaving him too weak to stand.
  • Little Black lunged at Wang Xiaoxue's head, but her fleshy tendrils struck him aside and left him bleeding as Fan Shang neared death.

Ch. 14Refusing death, awakening!

Fan Shang fought to survive as ghosts drained his life, spending his remaining Survival Points to raise his attributes but failing to awaken. As Wang Xiaoxue moved to kill him, Fan Shang’s refusal to die triggered an autonomous awakening, and an eerie blue ghostly road spread from his body.

  • Fan Shang raised his spirit and qi with Survival Points while ghosts attacked him, but exceeding the human limits did not awaken his Sequence.
  • Fan Shang spent the Survival Points he gained for escaping the Cat-Faced Ghost to raise his spirit to 10, then ran out of points before he could exceed its limit.
  • The ghosts drained Fan Shang until he lay near death, and Wang Xiaoxue released her hold on his shoulder and approached to suck his head dry.
  • Fan Shang recalled his anger toward Wang Xiaoxue and refused to die as she lunged at him.
  • Fan Shang seized Wang Xiaoxue’s mouth, and an eerie blue flame spread into a ghostly road as his will broke through its limit and the system began his autonomous awakening.

Ch. 15[Underworld Soldier] Claimed the Road-and Passed Through Wang Xiaotou

Fan Shang awakened the Underworld Soldier Sequence after Wang Xiaotou nearly killed him, gaining the power to injure horrors and withstand his blood loss. He pursued Wang Xiaotou along a Ghost Road and began chopping her apart with a fire axe.

  • Fan Shang awakened the Underworld Soldier Sequence and restrained Wang Xiaoxue with his newly strengthened hand.
  • Fan Shang slammed Wang Xiaotou into the pavement, discovered his blue flames could destroy the black mist protecting horrors, and killed the three Skull Melon Seeds attached to him.
  • Wang Xiaotou tried to flee toward the Mother Body, but Fan Shang used his Ghost Road to cross nearly a hundred meters in an instant.
  • Fan Shang struck Wang Xiaotou’s forehead with his fire axe and repeatedly brought the weapon down on her.

Ch. 16Excuse me, Compound-Eyed Sunflower

Fan Shang killed Little Head Wang Xiaoxue and then fought the Compound-Eyed Sunflower, the level 1 anomaly that had pursued his convoy. He split the sunflower’s flower head and gained survival points, though his wounds and limited stamina left his condition uncertain.

  • Fan Shang hacked Little Head Wang Xiaoxue into pieces and killed her after her head tried to call for her mother, earning 200 survival points.
  • Fan Shang saw the Compound-Eyed Sunflower approaching and decided to kill it rather than let it continue hunting him.
  • Fan Shang used Yin Soldier's Borrowed Road to rush the sunflower, cutting apart its launched heads and striking its flower head with his fire axe.
  • Fan Shang endured multiple wounds, including a hole punched through his left arm, while repeatedly attacking the sunflower and deepening its injuries.
  • The Compound-Eyed Sunflower became frightened and tried to flee, but Fan Shang chased it down and split its flower head in two.
  • Fan Shang received 1,500 survival points for killing the Little Head anomalies and 2,000 for killing the Compound-Eyed Sunflower.

Ch. 17Restoration and the Price of a Sequence

After killing the Compound-Eyed Sunflower, Fan Shang realized his severe injuries were about to kill him and used the system to restore his body and raise his physique. He survived, but his corpse-like body and halved heartbeat remained as the price of his Underworld Soldier Sequence.

  • Fan Shang defeated the Compound-Eyed Sunflower but found himself bleeding from dozens of wounds and near death.
  • Fan Shang inspected his transformed system panel, discovering his Underworld Soldier Sequence, improved attributes, Street Elbow Strike at lv5, and 4,400 survival points.
  • Fan Shang chose to spend 2,000 survival points to restore his body and increase his physique from 19 to 20.
  • Fan Shang's wounds closed and his body filled out, though his pale, tough skin and slowed heartbeat persisted as the price of his Sequence.

Ch. 18The Yin Soldiers Finally Hang Themselves—Catching Up with the Convoy

Fan Shang escaped the Cat-Faced Ghost and caught up with the convoy, but discovered that Little Black was dying and the system could not heal him. As Little Black showed relief that Fan Shang had survived, Fan Shang turned to his Sequence abilities for another way to save him.

  • Fan Shang noticed the silhouettes in the fog growing clearer, then received a death warning that the level-two Cat-Faced Ghost had caught up with him.
  • Fan Shang stole a car, carried the wounded Little Black with him, and fled the Cat-Faced Ghost until he escaped its pursuit.
  • Fan Shang found the convoy’s tracks and realized Little Black was barely breathing, with severe injuries.
  • Fan Shang asked the system how many Survival Points it would take to heal Little Black, but it only offered to upgrade the cat’s bloodline for 4,000 points.
  • Little Black weakly meowed with relief that Fan Shang was alive, and Fan Shang looked to his Sequence abilities, Yin Soldier's Borrowed Road and Edict of Symbiosis.

Ch. 19The [Underworld Soldier] Sequence's second ability-there were always fools who didn't know better

Fan Shang used Edict of Coexistence to save Little Black by binding the cat’s life to his, then drove back to the convoy. When he arrived, greedy survivors began approaching his blood-spattered car, leaving him facing a likely confrontation.

  • Fan Shang examined his Underworld Soldier abilities and decided to use Edict of Coexistence on the dying Little Black, accepting that their lives would be linked.
  • Fan Shang placed the eerie green edict on Little Black, whose breathing steadied and wounds began healing as assimilation started.
  • Brother Wang and Xiao discussed survivors returning to the convoy and speculated that they might have encountered eerie entities.
  • Fan Shang drove his blood-spattered Wuling Hongguang back to the convoy, where survivors eyed his supplies and a tattooed man approached with three others.

Ch. 20Two cuts to the neck, one to the head-even the King of Hell would call you dead (part one)

Fan Shang faced Li Qiang and his three cronies, who tried to take his car and supplies. He remained unafraid with his bloodied axe in hand as Li Qiang began to suspect he might be dangerous.

  • Li Qiang claimed Fan Shang as his target while the watching survivors backed down from challenging him.
  • Fan Shang recognized Li Qiang’s group as convoy veterans who bullied newcomers and had tried to rob him before.
  • Xiao Zi spotted Fan Shang’s supplies and summoned Li Qiang and the others, who demanded that Fan Shang hand over his car, supplies, and axe.
  • Fan Shang stepped out of the car and challenged Li Qiang’s confidence, making Li Qiang uneasy.
  • Xiao Zi repeated the demand for Fan Shang’s belongings while the four men surrounded him.
