Background / History

Tang San has already experienced transmigration before the story’s events. Luo Chen later claims that the Divine Realm arranged both his original transmigration and his intended path to godhood, including the possibility of resurrection if he died 13 28.

Before leaving Slaughter City, Tang San throws the Snow-Colored Swan Kiss into the source of the Yellow Springs River. According to Luo Chen’s account, the herb amplifies the river’s accumulated toxins, poisoning Slaughter City and driving its inhabitants into mutual slaughter. The city’s destruction also dooms its King of Slaughter—Tang San’s great-grandfather, Tang Chen, who is possessed by the blood-red Nine-Headed Bat King 2.

The history presented through the sky screen records Tang San becoming both the Sea God and Asura God, fighting the Angel God Qian Renxue and Rakshasa God Bibi Dong, and bringing about Spirit Hall’s destruction. These records establish the future his younger self expects, but the sky screen’s revelations cause events in his own era to diverge from that outcome 2 12 79.

Appearance

  • Younger self: A blue-haired youth; in the Dragon King era, his hair is described as long 13 51.
  • Sea God form: Azure hair and a pale-blue Sea God mark on his forehead 62.
  • Asura transformation: His hair turns frost-white, a blood-colored Asura pattern spreads from his brows to his jaw, and his eyes take on an expression of icy slaughter 62.
  • After being sealed: A purple-black vortex-like rune appears on his chest, its aura enveloping his body 63.

Personality

Tang San treats hidden weapons as the defining foundation of the Tang Sect. Learning that its future incarnation has switched to soul tools enrages him; after reaching that era, he refuses battle armor and continues demanding materials for hidden-weapon research. Even Zang Xin’s repeated explanations of their limitations fail to change his position 10 51.

His knowledge of his predicted godhood produces a strong sense of entitlement. He expects Sea God Island to admit him, demands that its trial begin, and threatens to raze the island when rejected. After returning to his own era and finding his sect ruined, he promises to settle scores with former allies as well as enemies once he becomes a god 12 78.

The divine-era Tang San openly prioritizes control of the continent and the survival of his own sect. When confronted over interference in the lower realm and the disappearance of the Tang Sect’s subordinate clans, he dismisses those losses as irrelevant so long as the Tang Sect itself survives 8 56.

His attachment to Xiao Wu remains a decisive vulnerability. His younger self hopes becoming the Sea God will allow him to resurrect her, while his divine-era self lays down the Asura Demon Sword when she is held hostage. Afterward, he comforts her and privately treats his surrender as temporary 12 63.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

  • Blue Silver Emperor: One of the identifying traits that allows Luo Chen to recognize Tang Yin as Tang San. Tang San credits it with helping him become the Sea God 30 54.
  • Clear Sky Hammer: Revealing it alongside the Blue Silver Emperor and his hundred-thousand-year sixth ring confirms his identity to Luo Chen 54.
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer: Becomes a Tang Sect secret art despite originating in the Clear Sky Sect. Its transmission to outsiders provokes the Clear Sky elders to reject Tang San 56.

Tang Sect Techniques

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill: A cultivation method he regards as central to defeating Spirit Hall; he also channels it into Guanyin’s Tears 1 55.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Creates blurred afterimages and supports evasive movement. Combined with the Eight Spider Soul Bone, it briefly prevents Xu Xiaoyan from locking onto him 55 77.
  • Purple Demon Eye: Detects tiny defensive flaws and tracks battlefield developments, including Yuanen Yehui’s approach toward his teammates 55 76.

Hidden-Weapon Combat and Crafting

  • Manufactures a Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus while working in the basement of Glorious Tang Sect Technology Co., Ltd. 51.
  • Targets battle armor’s movable joints around the neck, shoulders, elbows, and waist with poisoned needles and successive hidden-weapon volleys 55.
  • Finds that the Godly Zhuge Crossbow cannot leave even a mark on his opponent’s One-Word Battle Armor 55.
  • Defeats that opponent only after numerous weapons open a tiny flaw in the inferior armor, allowing Guanyin’s Tears to reach the wearer’s heart 55.
  • Zang Xin considers the Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus less effective against Three-Word and Four-Word Battle Armor and inferior to a Fixed Soul Cannon Shell in area damage 51.

Guanyin’s Tears

The Tang Sect’s highest-ranked manually launched hidden weapon, formed by condensing his blood essence and Mysterious Heaven Skill into a lustrous teardrop 55.

  • Tang San recalls using it to wound Qian Renxue while he was a Titled Douluo 13.
  • In the Dragon King era, it kills a battle-armored Soul Emperor by passing through a previously opened weak point 55.
  • Its successful use in that fight does not demonstrate that it can penetrate intact battle armor unaided 55.

Xiao Wu-Derived Defensive Skills

  • Phasing: His sixth soul skill, used to evade Wang Qiu’er’s Golden Dragon Burst. Tang San acknowledges that it draws on Xiao Wu’s soul power 77.
  • Invincible Golden Body: Blocks attacks from Ye Xinglan and Yuanen Yehui and protects him against Wang Qiu’er’s spear. He exhausts all three uses during the arena match 77.
  • Limit: Repeated use of his hundred-thousand-year sixth-ring abilities consumes enough soul power to leave him nearly depleted 77.

Divine Power and Golden Thirteen Halberds

  • Holds Sea God and Asura God powers in a single body in the historical account 2.
  • Unfixed Storm: The first form of the Golden Thirteen Halberds, producing golden rings capable of temporarily restraining even a God King 62.
  • Uses the Sea God Trident to release azure seawater divine power and reinforce his restraints during the fight with the God of Destruction 62.
  • Switches to scarlet Asura divine power and the Asura Demon Sword when Sea God techniques do not settle the confrontation 62.
  • Takes offense when Luo Chen demonstrates the complete Golden Thirteen Halberds and repeatedly uses Unfixed Storm 31 58.

Divine Consciousness and Lower-Realm Surveillance

  • Leaves divine-consciousness traces on Wang Dong’er and Wang Qiu’er; both disappear when the sky screen appears 8.
  • Uses a separate divine-sense connection through Shrek Academy’s Golden Tree to search for Wang Dong’er and attempts to possess her 21.
  • Conceals a consciousness called Old Tang within Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King bloodline. Its communications are cut off while the bloodline is being extracted 30.
  • Cannot shut down the sky screen despite attempting to do so immediately after its appearance 8.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sea God Trident / Golden Trident — His divine weapon. Luo Chen obtains a trident during the extraction of Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King bloodline; the Peerless Tang Sect-era Tang San also wields his own in the Divine Realm 30 33 62.
  • Asura Demon Sword — A blood-colored sword over two meters long, wielded in his Asura state; its presence tears small rifts in surrounding space 21 62.
  • Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud — Activated during his attempted escape from Sea God Island, immediately before his disappearance 13.
  • Eight Spider Soul Bone — Used with Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to greatly increase his speed 77.
  • Xiao Wu’s soul ring and soul bone — Sources of power that Luo Chen criticizes him for repeatedly using despite professing restraint 75.
  • Hidden-weapon arsenal — Includes the Godly Zhuge Crossbow, Shadow-Containing Sand, Silent Sleeve Arrow, Dragon Whisker Needle, Mother-Child Soul-Chasing Life-Taking Orb, Yama’s Invitation, and Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus 51 55.
  • Snow-Colored Swan Kiss — The immortal herb he places in the Yellow Springs River before leaving Slaughter City 2.
  • Battle armor — Refuses Zang Xin’s offer to commission Two-Word Battle Armor, requesting hidden-weapon materials instead 51.

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — Romantic partner and central emotional attachment. He hopes to revive her and later surrenders when she is taken hostage 12 63.
  • Tang Wutong / Wang Dong’er — His daughter. Luo Chen accuses him of using her to influence Huo Yuhao; Tang San later attempts to possess Wang Dong’er through the Golden Tree 21 28.
  • Tang Hao — His father; the Clear Sky elders identify Tang San as Tang Hao’s son 2.
  • Tang Chen — His great-grandfather. Tang San’s destruction of Slaughter City is identified as the cause of Tang Chen’s death 2 12.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher, proud of having trained a future god. News of Tang San’s presumed death initially drives him to vow revenge against Spirit Hall 2 26.
  • Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun — Companions who accompany him to Sea God Island, fight beside him in the future-era arena, and return with him to Heaven Dou City 12 75 78.
  • Luo Chen — Principal adversary. Tang San resents an earlier humiliation and later identifies him as the person disrupting his ten-thousand-year plan 1 28.
  • Zang Xin — Future Tang Sect vice sect master who supplies his research materials and unsuccessfully encourages him to adopt battle armor 29 51.
  • Tai Tan — Loyal Strength Clan leader who waits for his return and hopes he can restore the ruined Tang Sect 78.
  • Dugu Bo — Former associate who repudiates him after he claims the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as Tang Sect property 75 78.
  • Bo Saixi — Turns against him over Tang Chen’s death and attacks him despite Poseidon’s intervention 12 13.
  • Poseidon — Protects him on Sea God Island and is prepared to seek his resurrection if necessary 13.
  • Asura God — Initially selects him as a successor, then repudiates and personally annihilates his Spirit Hall-era self 13 71 79.
  • God of Destruction and Goddess of Life — Strip his dual godhoods and banish his Peerless Tang Sect-era self to the mortal realm 71.
  • Huo Yuhao — Target of his long-term manipulation according to Luo Chen; later receives an Asura trial requiring Tang San’s death 2 28 84.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Sky Screen Revelations and Sea God Island

The sky screen simultaneously reveals Tang San’s historical victory and exposes actions that turn prospective supporters against him. The Clear Sky elders demand punishment over Tang Chen’s fate, while Bo Saixi reconsiders admitting him after hearing about Tang Chen and the future decline of sea soul masters 2 12.

Tang San arrives expecting recognition as the future Sea God. Sea Horse Douluo rejects him, and Bo Saixi attempts to kill him. Poseidon intervenes, but Qian Daoliu launches Angel Judgment during the attempted escape. Tang San disappears, leaving Qian Daoliu convinced that he has died and the Divine Realm Hub unable to locate him 12 13 54.

Hidden Weapons in the Dragon King Era

Tang San awakens twenty thousand years in the future near Glorious Tang Sect Technology Co., Ltd. Rather than reconsidering his methods, he takes this as an opportunity to restore hidden weapons to prominence. Under the name Tang Yin, he refuses Zang Xin’s proposed apprenticeship and battle armor while continuing weapons research 13 29 51.

During the Holy Spirit Cult attack in Heaven Dou City, Luo Chen identifies him through his twin martial souls and hundred-thousand-year sixth ring. Tang San kills a battle-armored opponent, but only after a costly barrage opens a weak point for Guanyin’s Tears 54 55.

Arena Defeat and Return to the Past

Tang San opposes outsiders using the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. A team match follows, pitting him, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun against Wang Qiu’er, Xu Xiaoyan, Ye Xinglan, and Yuanen Yehui 75.

After his teammates fall, Tang San attempts another solo reversal. Wang Qiu’er’s perception exposes his movements, while Xu Xiaoyan repeatedly immobilizes him as his defensive skills expire. He exhausts Invincible Golden Body, nearly runs out of soul power, and is knocked from the arena 76 77.

Back in the Spirit Hall era, he finds the Tang Sect ruined. Tai Tan explains that Qian Daoliu attacked it, major allies withdrew, three subordinate clans departed, and the Heaven Dou imperial family ordered the sect out of the empire. Tang San vows revenge, then mistakes the Asura God’s arrival for an inheritance opportunity. Instead, the god annihilates him and the remaining Tang Sect 78 79.

Divine Realm Conflict and Banishment

The Peerless Tang Sect-era Tang San fails to suppress the sky screen or preserve his divine-consciousness links. The God of Destruction confronts him over interference in the lower realm, eventually catching his attempted possession of Wang Dong’er 8 21.

Their conflict escalates into God King-level combat. After Xiao Wu is taken hostage, Tang San surrenders and has his Asura power sealed. He privately expects Huo Yuhao’s eventual ascension to provide an opportunity for retaliation 62 63.

Further revelations connect his ten-thousand-year plan to the Abyss Plane’s access to Douluo Continent and the deaths of Blood God Legion soldiers. The God of Destruction and Goddess of Life strip both divine positions and exile him. Tang San plans to create a new godhood and return, while Huo Yuhao receives an Asura trial requiring his death; the finale confirms that this incarnation has died 71 81 84 87.

Great God Realm Finale

A later Tang San returns with the Great God Realm, expecting its twelve God Kings to reclaim Douluo Star. Luo Chen and Gu Yuena command fourteen God Kings, defeat the opposing force, kill its twelve God Kings, and seize the Great God Realm 87.
