The jade shop.
"You're going to Capital City?" Zhou Jinzhi asked.
Ye Fan nodded. "That's right! Yunxi attracts far too much attention. I need to go keep an eye on him."
Ye Fan thought, Unless you know someone's exact birth date and time, you can't detect a heavenly yin constitution in its early stages. But as the person grows, it gradually reveals itself, and it has an immense attraction for ghosts and other yin entities! Once Bai Yunxi's constitution starts manifesting, all sorts of demons and monsters will come looking for him.
Generally, a heavenly yin constitution would fully manifest at twenty.
Bai Yunxi was mature beyond his years, but he had actually only just turned nineteen. Still, he had come into contact with that "princess" last time, which might cause his heavenly yin constitution to manifest early. Ye Fan needed to check on him beforehand.
Zhou Jinzhi smiled. "Bai Yunxi, the Bai Family's Third Young Master, is very popular. Plenty of campus beauties and socialites like him! Once you get to Capital City, stop spouting that nonsense about courting Bai Yunxi and making him your wife."
"Why?" Ye Fan asked.
In his previous life, plenty of people had liked playing matchmaker for him. Even after he had chosen his principal wife, many still wanted to offer him concubines.
"You'll get beaten up," Zhou Jinzhi said.
Ye Fan shook his head. "You probably don't know this, but I've gotten much better at fighting. Ordinary people won't be any match for me."
Zhou Jinzhi was speechless.
"You'll drown in people's spit. Do you want people spitting on you?" Zhou Jinzhi asked sternly.
Ye Fan shook his head. "That's filthy!"
"Then watch your mouth," Zhou Jinzhi said solemnly.
Ye Fan looked thoroughly aggrieved. "You're so mean! If you don't start being nicer, I won't invite you when Yunxi and I get married."
Zhou Jinzhi scoffed. "Looking like that, you want Third Young Master Bai to be your wife? You'll probably have to wait until your next life..."
Ye Fan said unhappily, "Old Zhou, don't look down on me like that! You should know I'm a promising young man. What do you call it... an eligible bachelor."
Zhou Jinzhi was speechless. Ye Fan really was full of himself!
Seeing Ye Fan come out of Zhou Jinzhi's jade shop, Liao Tingting mustered her courage and approached him.
"Ye Fan, long time no see!" Liao Tingting said.
Ye Fan looked at Liao Tingting with some impatience. "Need something?" Facing the original owner's dream girl made him a little uncomfortable.
"It's been so long. Why don't we have a meal together?" Liao Tingting suggested.
Ye Fan shook his head. "No time. I have things to do! Besides, I think it's best if we don't see each other. There's really no reason to meet."
If someone had offered Ye Fan a free meal a few months ago, he might have been delighted. But several months had passed, and he was now worth tens of millions, with his assets about to reach a hundred million. Getting free meals was no longer one of his hobbies.
Ye Fan didn't waste any more time on Liao Tingting and simply left.
"What's his problem? He's so cold!" Jiang Rou said.
Having been rejected so mercilessly by Ye Fan in front of her friend, Liao Tingting couldn't help feeling humiliated.
Liao Tingting looked toward Zhou Jinzhi and saw him watching them with interest.
Liao Tingting headed toward the jade shop, but Zhou Jinzhi left it in the care of the manager nearby and went upstairs to avoid her.
Noticing how differently Zhou Jinzhi treated her and Ye Fan, Liao Tingting couldn't help feeling hurt.
The airport.
"Your boarding pass is ready. Once you board, just find your assigned seat."
Ye Fan nodded. "Okay."
"Capital City is full of the rich and powerful. Once you're there, you must be careful and avoid offending anyone," Wu Sihan said gravely.
Ye Fan said unhappily, "Cousin, you've already said that several times. I have a very good memory. You don't need to keep repeating yourself."
Wu Sihan was speechless. He simply couldn't stop worrying.
Looking at Ye Fan's hair, Wu Sihan felt a headache coming on. "Why did you dye your hair all those colors?"
"The stylist at the salon did it for me. Apparently, it looks cooler this way! This hairstyle cost me three thousand. What do you think?" Ye Fan asked, smoothing his hair.
Wu Sihan was speechless.
Ye Fan looked at Wu Sihan. "Cousin, do you think Young Master Bai will like my new hairstyle?"
Wu Sihan gave a strained smile. "I don't know!"
"Never mind, then. I'll ask him once I find him."
Wu Sihan said, "...Cousin, you seem a little different since coming out of seclusion."
Ye Fan smiled. "Of course." He had reached the third level of qi refining, after all, and now had some ability to protect himself. Naturally, he would be a little different. "Cousin, I'm heading in."
Wu Sihan nodded. "Okay."
Ye Fan settled into the VIP cabin. It had eight seats, but only four passengers.
Tickets for the plane's VIP cabin cost several times more than ordinary seats, so most people wouldn't book them.
An elderly man sat beside Ye Fan. Across the aisle sat a heavily made-up woman, with a man in his thirties or forties in the window seat beside her. The man had the air of a successful businessman, and the two looked like a couple.
Ye Fan studied the couple for a moment, interest growing in his eyes.
The woman glared at Ye Fan unhappily, a trace of disdain flashing through her eyes. "You're in the wrong place, aren't you? This is the VIP cabin!"
Ye Fan blinked. "The wrong seat? No, I'm not!"
With his multicolored bird's-nest hair, bargain-bin clothes, off-brand sneakers, and an obviously cheap counterfeit bag, it was hardly surprising that the woman nearby thought Ye Fan had taken the wrong seat.
"Country bumpkin!" The woman gave Ye Fan a contemptuous glance and beckoned to a flight attendant. "Miss, a passenger over here is in the wrong seat."
The flight attendant approached Ye Fan and asked politely, "Sir, could you show me your boarding pass?"
Ye Fan took out his ticket. After checking it, the flight attendant told the woman, "Miss, he is in the correct seat."
The flight attendant was rather surprised herself. Passengers taking the wrong seats was common, and at first glance, Ye Fan's outlandish punk look had made her think the same. Unexpectedly, though, he really did have a VIP ticket. She couldn't help thinking that rich people certainly knew how to amuse themselves!
These days, plenty of rich people liked pretending to be penniless. But judging by this new trend, some were no longer satisfied with that and were moving on to pretending to be penniless punks.
"Young man, that's quite a distinctive look!" the elderly man beside Ye Fan remarked.
Ye Fan smoothed his hair. "I spent three thousand on this hairstyle. The young barber said lots of people like this style nowadays. It's avant-garde!"
Chen Songbin smiled. "Yes, avant-garde! What are you going to Capital City for, young man?"
"Me? I'm going to court my wife," Ye Fan said.
"The wife you've set your sights on is in Capital City?" Chen Songbin asked.
Ye Fan nodded. "That's right!"
"What does she do?" Chen Songbin asked.
"He runs a company. He's rich, and ridiculously handsome!" Ye Fan said proudly.
"Impressive!" Chen Songbin exclaimed.
Ye Fan smiled. "Of course! He's the wife I've chosen. Naturally, he's impressive!"
The woman nearby gave a cold laugh. "If your wife is that impressive, he certainly won't be interested in you."
Ye Fan shot the woman an unhappy look. "What do you mean?"
The woman looked at Ye Fan coldly. "Isn't it obvious? Just look at yourself. What normal person would be interested in someone like you? Keep dreaming."
Yuan Yi had initially assumed Ye Fan was a bumpkin who had bought an ordinary ticket and mistakenly sat in the VIP cabin. Discovering that he really had bought a VIP ticket left her fuming over her mistake. Hearing his conversation with Chen Songbin, she immediately began mocking him.
Ye Fan glared at her, furious. "What right do you have to say that about me?"
"I said it. What are you going to do about it?" Yuan Yi persisted.
Ye Fan raised a finger and pointed at Zhang Siliang beside her. "If you hadn't put a bug inside his body, would he obey your every word?"
Yuan Yi's face flushed red as she stared at Ye Fan. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Ye Fan gave a cold laugh. "You tell me! What am I talking about?"
"Charlatan!" Yuan Yi muttered unhappily. Her voice was rather low, betraying a trace of guilt.
Ye Fan gave a soft snort and said nothing more to her.
The distinguished-looking man beside Yuan Yi gave Ye Fan several intent looks, but asked no questions.
Seeing this, Chen Songbin smiled. "Young man, if you run into any trouble in Capital City, you can come to me! Here's my business card."
Ye Fan nodded. "Sure."
Although Ye Fan didn't think he would encounter any trouble, having more friends meant having more options, so he readily accepted the card.
As soon as the plane landed, Yuan Yi dragged Zhang Siliang away, looking as though she were fleeing in panic.
Ye Fan watched their retreating backs and smiled coldly.
Chen Songbin was very interested in Ye Fan and kept him around to chat. "Young man, you said there was a bug inside that man's body. What kind of bug?"
"A heartbond gu," Ye Fan said.
Chen Songbin asked dubiously, "You mean that woman put a gu in Boss Zhang, and that made him obey her every word?"
Ye Fan nodded. "That's right!"
Chen Songbin was a paranormal enthusiast who enjoyed collecting magical artifacts and the like. Unfortunately, he had a poor eye for them and was always getting swindled. After suffering so many losses, he had become somewhat wary.
If he hadn't known Zhang Siliang, he would have suspected that the three of them were running a con on him. But he did know Zhang Siliang, a major businessman who should have been above scamming people out of money. Considering Zhang Siliang's reaction, Chen Songbin felt that he and his female secretary only seemed close on the surface and were actually at odds. There might well be more to the situation.
"How could you tell?" Chen Songbin asked.
"Me? I have eyes that see through everything!" Ye Fan said as though it were obvious.
Chen Songbin was speechless.
