Afterward, Tang San received an equally warm welcome from his teammates, and the group returned to the academy, chatting and laughing along the way.
"Xiao San, you actually had Ring Fusion up your sleeve too," Dai Mubai said in surprise. Tang San really had far too many cards in his hand.
"I merely saw it and understood it. Essentially, you activate all your Soul Rings at once and concentrate their output on a single point," Tang San said modestly.
But it was easy to say and difficult to do. Without the special gift of Ring Fusion, anyone hoping to accomplish it first needed enough mental strength to direct all their Soul Rings, familiarity with the release and flow of their own Martial Soul's Soul Power, and the ability to control the discord between the rings.
Every Soul Ring came from a different Soul Beast and contained the resentment it left behind before death, along with fragments of its primordial spirit.
Of course, Tang San's situation was rather unusual. The Soul Beasts behind his first and second Soul Rings had both been exceptionally docile species, and the resentment they produced was negligible. The little fellow in his third Soul Ring possessed a consciousness of his own and would cooperate fully with Tang San, helping him control the primordial spirit consciousnesses within the two rings below.
Tang San had long since cleared the consciousness out of his fourth Soul Ring, making it an exceedingly rare Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring that would not cause Soul Shock. As for his fifth Soul Ring, he had thoroughly subdued the Man Faced Demon Spider Emperor's consciousness long ago, turning him into one of Tang San's killing moves.
