A suitcase full of gold bars. Rich people's introductory gifts really were that plain and simple.
When Baili Pangpang saw that Lin Qiye hadn't reacted for ages, he assumed Lin Qiye didn't like gold, so he clapped his hands and called over another bodyguard.
Opening the suitcase, he took out an exquisite gift box. An entire set of Rolex watches appeared before them, just as dazzling.
"Uh, what?!"
Before Lin Qiye had recovered from the roomful of gold, he was swept into a whirlpool of luxury watches-and he'd only ever seen these watches in magazines.
"You don't like these either? How about Vacheron Constantin?"
"Could it be that you prefer diamonds, Qiye?"
"Sorry, sorry! I didn't bring any diamonds this time!"
Baili Pangpang sounded utterly sincere. He took silence to mean dislike, in which case he simply had to offer something else.
"No, no, no!"
"These are too expensive! I can't accept them!" Lin Qiye shook his head furiously, but the chubby young man seemed close to Wang Quan, so he couldn't just snub him.
"Oh, come on!"
"Out of all the people in the world, fate brought us together! No need to be so polite, Qiye!"
"Come on, try it on!" The flesh on Baili Pangpang's face quivered as he smiled like a laughing Buddha, yet his smile was surprisingly innocent.
As he spoke, he had already fastened a green Submariner around Lin Qiye's wrist.
"Just take it if he's offering!"
"This kid's richer than you can imagine!" Wang Quan patted Lin Qiye on the shoulder and explained, "For him, this watch costs about as much as a bowl of plain rice does for us."
"No, no, no! Don't listen to Quan's nonsense, Qiye. My family only runs a little business!"
Only then did Baili Pangpang remember that he was supposed to hide his identity. Unfortunately, it was already too late.
"Pangpang, send these bodyguards back. They're too conspicuous!"
"I'm all the protection you need!"
"Okay!"
Baili Pangpang glanced back and said, "All of you, get lost! You'll still get paid!"
"With Quan here, everything will be fine!"
"Yes, sir!" the bodyguards answered in unison. Baili Pangpang looked them over again, then casually pulled two suitcases toward himself. He might meet some more new friends later, so there was nothing wrong with bringing along a few local specialties.
"Quan, let's go, let's go!"
Baili Pangpang dragged the suitcases over with difficulty. Wang Quan's mouth twitched as he asked, "What did you bring?"
"One case of gold and one case of watches!"
"The bodyguards have more. If anything catches your eye, Quan, just take it!"
"They're too heavy. Let me carry them!" Wang Quan still had principles. He had already taken a hundred million from the boy's father; taking anything more would be going too far.
"Thanks, Quan!"
Baili Pangpang hummed a tune as he strolled leisurely ahead. Lin Qiye turned his head and asked quietly, "Pangpang seems to trust you a lot!"
"We went for a foot massage together. Those masseuses-damn, every last one was a top-tier beauty!"
Lin Qiye: "..."
In the parking lot, Baili Pangpang eagerly climbed into the Maybach and even praised it. "Nice car, Quan! Shame it's not a limited edition. I'll give you one sometime."
"Oh, right. Want one too, Qiye?"
Since meeting someone made them a brother, Baili Pangpang naturally had to treat them equally.
Lin Qiye looked dumbfounded. He finally understood why the rich family's foolish son was so popular. Giving away luxury cars was as easy as opening his mouth.
"No, thanks. I don't have a license, so I can't drive!"
"Aw!"
"What a shame!"
"Qiye, why aren't you getting in?"
"I... I'll take a taxi!" Remembering the flying sensation of their trip here, Lin Qiye felt his whole body go numb.
"Stay safe, then!" Wang Quan turned the key. The car shuddered, then the Maybach shot away in a streak of silver light.
"Holy crap!"
"Quan, th-there's a wall ahead!"
"We're gonna die! We're gonna die!"
"Quan!"
Listening to Baili Pangpang's screams, Lin Qiye pressed his palms together and prayed silently.
You're on your own, Pangpang. Good luck...
The deepening night gradually swallowed the sunset, and a taxi stopped outside the Peace Office.
"Ding-dong-welcome!"
Lin Qiye pushed open the door. Wen Qimo sat at the front desk, reading a book.
"Qimo, did Wang Quan come by with a chubby guy?"
"Quan? He hasn't been here today!"
"By the way, didn't he take you out for special training?"
"It's over!" At the mention of special training, Lin Qiye gave a helpless smile.
"I see!" Wen Qimo suddenly grinned wickedly. He pointed toward the underground entrance, a trace of sympathy in his voice. "The captain's waiting for you in the training room!"
"Don't worry. Xiaonan's there too, ready to heal you anytime!"
Lin Qiye: "???"
"Go on! Don't keep the captain waiting, or you'll end up with a few more broken bones!" Merely mentioning Chen Muye sent a chill through Wen Qimo, as though he had recalled some painful memories.
Feeling that chill, Lin Qiye swallowed with difficulty.
The bright moon hung high amid a scattering of stars.
A black Maybach sped through the outskirts of Cangnan, its speedometer pushed to the limit. Even so, it couldn't outrun the homing rocket behind it.
With a deafening explosion, a mushroom cloud of smoke and dust slowly rose.
Meanwhile, a hundred meters away, a mercenary in black combat gear curled his lips and murmured, "A specially made rocket. One shot packs the punch of a miniature nuclear bomb. Even a sea realm Mystery would be seriously injured!"
As he finished, his earpiece flashed. Another mercenary's puzzled voice came through. "Captain, I don't see any bodies!"
"Then they've been blown to pieces!"
"Huh?!"
"How are we supposed to collect the bounty, then? The Baili family's young heir has a bounty of several hundred million on his head!"
"Don't worry. I recorded a video!"
"Brilliant, Captain!"
Still excited, the mercenary looked through his sniper scope. A deep crater came into view, smoke and dust still drifting over the scorched black earth.
Suddenly, a glimmer of silver flashed amid the rolling waves of heat.
The mercenary rubbed his eyes in disbelief, only to find nothing there. Just as he thought he'd imagined it, an extremely annoyed voice sounded beside his ear:
"That fucking car cost me over a million. How are you planning to pay me back?"
The mercenary froze. He turned his head mechanically, his expression shifting from shock to horror before finally locking in place.
Beneath the pale moon, silver hair danced in the wind like burning flames.
Wang Quan held Baili Pangpang in one hand as he looked down at the mercenary.
His terrifying killing intent weighed on the mercenary like a mountain, leaving him unable to breathe. Trembling as though he'd seen a ghost, the mercenary accidentally pulled the trigger.
A gunshot rang out, followed by a trembling voice in every mercenary's ear. "It's... it's... it's..."
He stammered for ages without getting the words out, driving his teammates frantic.
"Who is it?"
"Spit it out!"
"Viper?"
"Viper, you bastard, have you lost your mind?!"
His teammates' curses, the cold moonlight, that narrowed-eyed smile-everything was driving the sniper mad.
At last, his despair-filled voice drifted into every teammate's ear:
"It's the White Reaper!"
At those words, the night fell deathly silent.
The next moment, the mercenary captain roared with absolute resolve, forcing just one word from his throat:
"Run!!!"
Word had it,
When the White Reaper appeared in person, you had to run. Running was your only option. Otherwise...
Death was certain!
