Background / History

Failed Tribulation and Alliance with Mu Chen

Nine Nether’s earlier encounter with black god lightning nearly destroyed both her body and soul. The Undying Bird power within her bloodline saved her, leading to her rebirth in the Black Nether Abyss. Before she could summon another tribulation, Mu Chen attacked and suppressed her beneath the One-Qi Chaos Tower 25 42.

She initially rejected his offer of a bargain as hypocrisy backed by force. Mu Chen nevertheless released her, warned that she was unprepared for the tribulation, and offered to obtain northern abyss dragon-kun blood essence to help her evolve. In exchange, she swore upon her bloodline to bring him into the Great Luo Heavenly Domain 26.

To avoid prematurely attracting the imminent tribulation, Nine Nether adopted an ordinary sparrow form and accompanied Mu Chen on his shoulder. At the Northern Heavens Spiritual Academy, she used the Thunder Domain to manufacture Heavenly Thunder Beads. After obtaining Bei Ming Dragon Kun’s blood essence, she faced and survived the black god lightning on the domain’s tenth level 27 37 42.

Return to Nine Nether Palace

After the tribulation, Nine Nether entered a black egg to finish transforming. Mu Chen stored it in the One-Qi Chaos Tower and supplied chaos qi. She eventually awakened as a Ninth Grade Sovereign Nine Netherworld Sparrow, then fulfilled her promise by escorting him to Great Luo Heaven 43 58 60.

Nine Nether returned to her palace after years away and reunited with its attendants. During her absence, several kings led by the Blood Eagle King had suppressed Nine Nether Palace. At the subsequent council, Mandala created two additional emperor seats; Nine Nether demonstrated her Ninth Grade Sovereign pressure and was appointed Nine Nether Emperor, retaining her palace and gaining additional territories 61 62 63 64.

Dragon Phoenix Heaven and the Divine Beast Origin

Nine Nether accompanied Mu Chen into Dragon Phoenix Heaven, where he secured seven Dragon Phoenix Pools for her cultivation. She later reached the ninth step of the Dragon Phoenix Ladder and selected the phoenix feather with the strongest aura among the inheritance vessels available to her 68 71.

Her ancestral bloodline awakening drew the attention of the Nine Nether Sparrow Clan. Elder Sky Sparrow escorted her home in preparation for the Divine Beast Origin, where the clan hoped to secure Undying Bird divine blood. She entered alongside Mu Chen, Mo Feng, and Mo Ling, and passed the Primordial Undying Bird’s inheritance trial 77 78 80 85.

At Mu Chen’s request, the three ancient Beast Sovereigns allowed Nine Nether to share the Divine Sea opportunity with him. Its altered time flow provided two and a half years of cultivation for every half-year outside. With the Undying Bird’s guidance, inheritance essence blood, and the sea’s nourishment, she evolved into a new Undying Bird branch while at the Earthly Sovereign level 87 88 89 90.

Later Cultivation

Mu Chen later provided Nine Nether, Luo Li, and Tang Qian’er with a spiritual pool enhanced by a drop of his essence blood to improve their foundations and potential. Nine Nether subsequently emerged from seclusion and reunited with him after his return to the Great Thousand World 112 127.

Nine Nether is proud, distrustful of coercion, and unwilling to surrender her dignity. While suppressed by Mu Chen, she considered self-destruction preferable to letting him exploit her. His decision to release her and trust her pride changed the encounter into a voluntary agreement, which she honored with a bloodline oath 26.

Her determination is particularly evident during cultivation trials. She confronted the lightning that had nearly killed her before and continued through the Undying Bird statue’s crushing pressure and agonizing bloodline tempering without abandoning the trial 42 85.

With trusted companions, she is warmer and more playful. She teases Mu Chen, shows affection toward her palace attendants, and reassures the nervous Mo siblings that he is easy to speak with if they respect his boundaries. She is openly grateful when he secures opportunities for her rather than keeping them entirely for himself 43 58 62 80 87.
