Fan Xiaodan had agreed to let Zhao Xun move the body and volunteered to help because she wanted a chance to be alone with him.
She wanted to probe him again and find out whether he really had discovered something new.
She knew that even alone with him, she probably wouldn't be able to get him to talk.
But all she needed was to observe his reactions and confirm that he really had found something.
She would investigate the rest herself.
If Zhao Xun could spot something in the suitcases, she had a chance of spotting it too.
She would inspect everyone's suitcase later. Surely she would find something.
Zhao Xun knew Fan Xiaodan was probing him. He smiled and asked, "Don't you believe what I just said? I really did think I'd found something new, but then I realized I was overthinking it."
Fan Xiaodan watched his expression closely, but she couldn't tell much from it.
After a moment's hesitation, she decided to trust her instincts.
Her inability to see anything didn't necessarily mean Zhao Xun hadn't found a new clue. He might simply be good at hiding things, while her ability to read people wasn't good enough yet.
In that case, she might as well trust her instincts.
She would inspect everyone's suitcase later. If she really couldn't find any clues, she could only chalk it up to bad luck.
With that in mind, she made a request. "Then you shouldn't mind letting me look at your suitcase, right?"
"Of course, if you want to." Zhao Xun agreed readily, without the slightest hesitation.
"But if I'm going upstairs, I'll need a few people to accompany me. You probably wouldn't feel comfortable with me going alone or with just one other person, would you?" He smiled at Fan Xiaodan.
