"That's everything I know," Whistle told Zhao Xun. "He definitely has other special items, but he doesn't use the rest as often. Almost all the players who shared a game with him are dead, too, so it's hard for me to gather more information."
"Mm." Zhao Xun nodded and sketched out a rough plan based on what he knew.
"Oh, right. He seems to have gotten a new special item recently. I picked up that information fragment from the player who shares his compartment." Suddenly remembering the detail he had nearly overlooked, Whistle hurried to add, "I'm not clear on exactly what it does yet, but it seems to be defensive."
"Defensive?" Zhao Xun pressed. "What kind of defense, exactly? Physical? Magical?"
Seeing that Zhao Xun wanted to establish the item's precise function, Whistle said, "Give me one more day. I promise I'll find out exactly what this special item does."
In truth, that was a tight deadline.
Since it was a new special item, Demon was unlikely to have used it yet.
If it concerned something that had never actually happened, extracting the details of the special item from Demon's mind would be difficult.
His special ability could not extract information directly from someone's brain.
What he could extract were fragments of information about past events left on living beings.
If the special item had never been used, its description would exist only in Demon's mind and would not leave information fragments on his body.
Even if fragments remained, a person carried trillions of them. Finding the exact fragment was as difficult as plucking a specific grain of sand from among the stars.
He could not guarantee that whatever he "caught" would be the fragment he needed.
If all else failed, he would have to collect more information fragments
