A large crowd of very strong Stone People gathered, waving M'tok flags and blocking the street outside the colony's Department of Education to express their dissatisfaction with its education policies.
The robots standing guard at the department's entrance exchanged puzzled looks, genuinely struggling to keep a straight face at these simple-minded Stone People.
Even their artificial thinking organs could tell that this was as fucking stupid as it got.
What era was this? Were they really still doing the whole protest march routine?
The two Robotic Workers received orders from above and stayed put, looking straight ahead and pretending not to see the Stone People as they continued guarding the department's entrance.
These Stone People had lived in peace for so long that they had lost the violent tendencies they ought to have had, becoming meek, compliant subjects.
Even the Empire's robots, with their simple minds, looked down on them.
The Stone People had even taken production into account. Both planets were striving to maintain normal resource production, while only a core group of protesters had gathered in Light City, the planetary capital.
Presumably, they knew the consequences of disrupting resource production.
A little protesting, a little marching-fine. The humans could treat it as a bit of clowning around.
But if they dared interfere with normal resource output, the humans would come down hard.
The humans did not make life difficult for these foolish aliens. The Department of Education's staff switched to working online, leaving the aliens camped outside without seeing a single person enter or leave for hours. All they could do was stare at the two robots on guard, who stared right back.
