[Team][Call Me Garfield Bro]: Holy shit! These two guys are here to cause trouble!
[Team][Kuang Dao]: What's going on?
Quite a few members of the War Hero raid had been too busy hurling insults to pay attention to anything else. When that message suddenly appeared, they had trouble processing it.
[Team][War Hero Yi Yan]: Teams one and two, go take a look. Is there some misunderstanding?
[Team][Call Me Garfield Bro]: Yi Yan, those two already attacked. I nearly got shot to death.
[Team][Kuang Dao]: They attacked? Then hurry up and kill them. Make it quick.
[Team][Kuang Dao]: Who was it again? Who reported them just now? Something about practicing gathering? Have you got a brain?
The poor fellow who had let Brick and Sky in was utterly frustrated, mentally screwing every female relative in eight generations of Kuang Dao's family! You and Yi Yan both gave your approval before I dared let them in! How come the moment something goes wrong, I'm the idiot? Please enlighten me, Kuang Dao!
"See? I told you, you can't be so friendly to outsiders. A nice guy like you is bound to get burned sooner or later." Grinning, Kuang Dao nudged War Hero Yi Yan. Getting a rare chance to mock his old friend felt damn good.
The raid leader gave a wry smile. He had merely wanted to improve the War Hero Family's public image. They weren't just overbearing bullies; most of the time, War Hero could be reasonable, too. Unfortunately, things sometimes simply refused to go as hoped. Good intentions often went unrewarded. That was just how the world worked.
War Hero Yi Yan wasn't a five-year-old child. He wouldn't take something like this to heart.
After all, the War Hero Family's unreasonable, domineering behavior was nothing new. Trying to change the entire player base's opinion of War Hero through the "good deeds" of a single branch leader was a drop in the ocean.
War Hero Yi Yan wasn't trying to do anything particularly "noble." Although he knew his behavior didn't fit in, he had a stubborn streak. Since he lacked the standing to help everyone, he could at least keep his own conduct upright.
"You're a living saint!" Seeing his old friend's reaction, Kuang Dao knew his jab had missed entirely. Sigh... buddy, we're just here to play a game. Why take it so seriously?
The two teams were only halfway there when another uproar suddenly erupted behind them...
"What's going on?" A Warrior glanced back, and his eyes immediately bulged. Holy crap, that guy... he's finally come down! But... huh? Why's he heading toward us?!
"Formation!" Team one's captain reacted swiftly, immediately ordering his players into combat formation. Several melee fighters quickened their pace and took the front, while the healers nervously tightened their grips on their Magic Devices. One had even begun precasting a spell.
Goddamn it, the time wasted trash-talking was over. Now was the time to show what they could do!
Xiao Xiaoxian stared fixedly at his teammates' health bars, terrified that someone might spring another surprise attack. He had experienced their opponent's skill not long ago. Failing to learn his lesson now would be inexcusable.
Several melee fighters charged after him, shouting. Cold-Hearted also steeled himself and moved up with the crowd. He had little choice-he was team one's only Assassin...
Ye Fengxing ignored these clinging pests entirely. His current agility was high enough to give him considerable maneuverability. As long as he wanted to dodge, ordinary players could do nothing about him.
War Hero's melee fighters understood that perfectly well. Even if they got close to this fellow, they might not land a clean hit. He always had some way to make them suffer first-tripping them, slicing their fingers, stabbing their armpits, or kicking their knees. Whatever he did, they simply couldn't hit him.
Strangely enough, this fellow had become remarkably good-tempered after coming down. No matter how they attacked, he never fought back. At first, War Hero's melee fighters hadn't dared press him too hard, but once they figured out the pattern, they grew bolder.
"Come on, come on! Come get me! Didn't you call yourself a blade saint?"
"Mage god, please abuse me! Please trample me!"
The veteran MMO players continued their verbal assault without mercy. The only one who didn't join in was Cold-Hearted. It wasn't that he was afraid; he simply admired their opponent's skill.
He had discussed it with Xiao Xiaoxian earlier, and both had agreed that their opponent was at least a professional-level player. His control, his awareness... they were convinced!
Although Cold-Hearted did seem somewhat unruly on the surface, he wasn't arrogant at heart. He genuinely didn't want to hurl filthy insults at the man before him.
That was how Cold-Hearted felt, but unfortunately, the people around him didn't share his views.
In these veterans' eyes, experts were their natural class enemies and absolutely had to be brought down! Charging in alone would only get them crushed, but with their buddies beside them, there was nothing to fear! If things looked good, they would swarm forward and beat the master down with a flurry of wild punches. If things looked bad, they would hang back and cheer. They might lose the fight, but they couldn't lose their swagger!
Losing was perfectly normal, anyway. If an expert couldn't even handle people of their "limited talent," then his reputation was undeserved!
Winning made things even simpler... knock him down! Stomp on him! And make sure to say, "See? That's what happens when you mess with us! Some fucking expert-you don't deserve your reputation!"
In short, the moment they saw Ye Fengxing "lose his nerve," they committed wholeheartedly to pursuing their fleeing foe. Their verbal artillery boomed away without a single pause.
Ye Fengxing, meanwhile, paid the flies behind him no attention and simply sprinted toward his destination.
His intent was painfully obvious. Thinking back to the two who had pretended to be "practicing gathering," Xiao Xiaoxian suddenly realized something and hurriedly shouted, "He's trying to get into the cave! Stop him!"
Cold-Hearted immediately sped up and chased after him! Until then, he had merely been tagging along in the middle of the crowd, but Xiao Xiaoxian's warning made him realize something was wrong. Cold-Hearted was a man of action, and he followed the order to block the way to the letter.
By contrast, the others who had been trash-talking so vigorously suddenly seemed to run out of steam. Their pace abruptly leveled off, leaving Cold-Hearted alone at the front.
As Ye Fengxing neared the cave entrance, he suddenly pivoted with a hop, and flames flared from both hands!
Cold-Hearted suddenly discovered he was on fire. This is bad... Before he could retreat, his opponent had already used Blink to close the distance. With both hands burning fiercely, Ye Fengxing hurled a huge fireball straight into Cold-Hearted's face!
Since the two were so close together, the visual effect was astonishing. It looked like an enormous, blazing slap across the face!
In just a few moves, Cold-Hearted had once again fallen in the line of duty. He had "sacrificed himself" for his guild and teammates. His death was "weightier than Mount Tai"!
Before dying, Comrade Xinchang heard an angry curse: "Fuck you bastards! Had your fill of insulting me, did you..."
Comrade Xinchang never heard the rest. He merely felt an endless frustration with nowhere to vent it. Only heaven knew he hadn't said a single word... not one word! Even Dou E hadn't been this fucking wronged!
Inside the cave.
"Ye, you're finally here!" Sky immediately grew excited when he saw Ye Fengxing. "Look, look, there's a big boss here! You're a real pal for inviting us over, Ye. I'll just..."
"Don't!" Ye Fengxing immediately panicked. Judging by Sky's posture, he had apparently been waiting for Ye Fengxing to arrive before drawing his bow and firing...
Goddamn it, after all that hard work, if his own people accidentally killed Adaric at the very end, Ye Fengxing really would cough up blood and die.
"Cut it out." Brick was a thoughtful fellow. He had been the one to stop Sky's impulsiveness earlier, too. When Sky first saw Adaric, his eyes had lit up, and his bow hand had trembled so badly that he hadn't managed to loose a single arrow.
Brick had certainly been startled as well, but he thought the situation was far too unusual. Ye Fengxing must have summoned them for something important, and it might well involve this big boss. Otherwise, why would he have emphasized this cave over and over?
Once he realized that, Brick had spoken up to stop Sky. Still, he was bursting with curiosity and temptation himself, waiting for Ye Fengxing to arrive and give him a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, he couldn't guarantee that he would keep his head either.
"Ye, what's going on here?" Brick glanced toward Adaric, his face full of anticipation.
"Yeah, yeah! If we can't kill him, what's the point of keeping him? And why's this boss tied up like that? What a weird boss..." As Sky spoke, he kept looking at Adaric, plainly curious and baffled by the thorny vines binding the great Tauren boss and the strip of cloth gagging him.
"Well, it's a long story." Ye Fengxing had no time to explain much at this juncture, so he could only put them off for now.
"Then make a long story short, Ye." Sky's burning curiosity was practically roasting him from the inside out. How could he be brushed off so easily?
"There's still a whole bunch of people at the entrance. Let's deal with them first." Ye Fengxing tried to stall a little longer.
"They've all been cowed by your peerless might, Ye. They wouldn't dare come in! Even with twice the guts, they wouldn't try anything! Look, all they can do is talk trash. The three of us can just pretend we don't hear them." Brick joined in the coaxing, leaving Ye Fengxing struggling to fend them off.
He knew Brick's temperament well. Normally, Brick would never deliberately flatter anyone, much less so blatantly and shamelessly. If even he was talking like this, it seemed Ye Fengxing had no choice but to indulge them today.
"Fine, since you want to hear it so badly..." Ye Fengxing approached the cave entrance and tilted his head to listen to the commotion outside. The corners of his mouth rose slightly... Brick and Sky both shuddered at his expression. Was this the legendary sinister smile? Was Ye about to go on another killing spree? Instead, they heard Ye Fengxing snap, "Heal me to full first! Brick, you bastard, are you a healer or not?!"
