Background / History
Real-world martial artist and gaming career
Ye Fengxing is an Ancient Martial Artist living on Earth in 2456. His real-world speed is sufficient to create dozens of afterimages in a room, and his fighting style—“arriving without a shadow, leaving without a trace”—has made him famous worldwide. He has killed people in reality, though the passages do not identify his opponents or the circumstances 2 32 35.
He began playing Light of Freedom five years before entering Chronicles of the Sky. There he met the Yun sisters and many of his longtime gaming friends. Less than two years after his first encounter with the game, he formed the Beaconfire Team and subsequently reached the top of the competitive scene 3 39.
As an Agile Warrior, he favored strength and agility over constitution and defense. His precise combos and ability to dodge or block spells made One Leaf Windwalk a widely watched duelist. A Silver Weapon quest chain took him six months of sustained effort and depended on contributions from numerous guild members 3 5 7 17.
Entering Chronicles of the Sky
On the final day of the closed beta, Ye Fengxing fought Yun Qianshuang and Yun Xixue after interrupting their bath. He disarmed them through Charge Stomp and basic attacks, then escaped using Gale Step. Before entering the public game, he sold his Light of Freedom account because he wanted to move on to a new game 1 2.
Although he had always played Warriors, he chose Mage to investigate unfamiliar combat methods while seeking a way forward in his martial arts. The game randomly assigned his race as a restriction on closed-beta players. He entered as a level-one Dragonkin laborer and used his knowledge of gathering mechanics to escape the initial leveling bottleneck 3 4.
Dragonkin camp and Aston’s trials
Mining uncovered the Ancient Dragon Fang, which Eske presented to Eshavante. The resulting reward allowed Ye Fengxing to explore freely under a protective buff. He retrieved Eske’s lost scroll, defeated increasingly powerful scarabs through kiting, and eventually brought the King of the Scarabs back to camp so Eske and the guards could fight it 5 6 7 9 10.
During the boss battle, he commanded the guards, coordinated attacks with Eske, and ordered a weapon-throwing assault that finished the King of the Scarabs. Eske rewarded him with its magic crystal and recommended him to the Dragonkin mage Aston 11 12 13.
Aston’s trials led him from collecting Magic Core Shards to investigating Traitor Martinst. He infiltrated a cavern guarded by undead far above his level, waited for the platform’s Plague of Death to fade, and recovered a Sealed Elder Scroll. A warning found there bore the signature of Pope Jorsen Cindrich VII and referred to the sealed underworld 14 15 16 18.
Ghostly Cave and departure
For the final class quest, Ye Fengxing recruited Ironhead Monk and Kawaii to fight Rotten Barbara. He set the level-15 Ghostly Cave to Hell Mode, recognized Kawaii’s professional-level healing, and briefly left the dungeon to purchase area-of-effect skills. Their team secured the first Hell Mode clear 21 22 24 25 27.
After further instruction from Aston, he reached level 15 and earned Dragon Speaker. Aston encouraged him to leave the Dragonrest Wilds and gain experience alongside comrades; Ye Fengxing promised to return with stories. He then completed quests near the Donar River using summons, spells, and overlapping damage-over-time effects 28.
Adaric and the War Hero conflict
Ye Fengxing encountered the nearly dead level-83 Tauren Adaric and chose to heal him rather than immediately claim a boss kill. He hoped to unlock a quest, but Adaric denied that they were companions and ordered him away. Ye Fengxing nevertheless hid him in a cave, where he was later found bound and gagged 32 33 37 46.
War Hero Family players pursued Ye Fengxing over an alleged boss exploit and a valuable shield. He repeatedly ambushed them, tested the talented young Priest Xiao Xiaoxian, and defended Adaric’s cave with Brick to the Face and Sky Wanderer. A mass Explosive Impact devastated the attackers before Cloud Pavilion’s relief force approached. He kept Adaric’s Flesh Curse active for an undisclosed purpose; Adaric then offered to teach the group how to protect their comrades 35 39 43 48 49.
Appearance
- Real world: Initially described as stubble-faced; silver light flashes in his eyes before his burst of extreme movement 2.
- Generated game appearance: Tall, straight-backed, and powerfully built, with a short mohawk and a fierce, bandit-like face 3.
- Dragonkin avatar: Unlike the surrounding Dragonkin, his starting body has neither scales nor a tail and looks human. He initially wears ragged clothes 4.
- Presentation: Even mage robes and a slender staff give him the appearance of an outlaw strategist. He refuses to pay to alter the generated image 3.
Personality
Ye Fengxing is foul-mouthed, mischievous, and fond of provoking friends and opponents. He especially enjoys teasing Yun Xixue and deliberately pushes Ironhead Monk’s temper before revealing his identity. His friendly-looking smile can signal genuine anger and an impending killing spree 3 7 22 46.
His stubbornness is matched by a willingness to practice. He mines after experience gains stop and spends hours correcting his unfamiliar Magic Device control. Difficult or supposedly impossible techniques motivate him rather than discourage him 5 15.
He prioritizes skill, control, and adaptability over equipment alone. Despite his aggression, he knows when to retreat, recognizes the limits imposed by character attributes, and avoids exposing Brick and Sky to unnecessary fighting. His experience with vindictive NPCs and deceptive quests has also made him cautious about apparently easy rewards 5 7 8 14 19 39 42.
Abilities & Skills
Ancient Martial Arts and Perception
His real-world reactions greatly exceed ordinary human limits, making normal events appear slow to him. The game reduces his basic attributes much more severely than his sensory advantages 5 32.
- Produces dozens of afterimages through real-world movement 2.
- Detects Ground Spikes through vibrations beneath his feet 9.
- Locates concealed enemies and senses approaching players through perception and hearing 23 35 42.
- Detects invisible Assassins because concealment does not remove sound, smell, or displaced air 35.
- Still requires sufficient in-game attributes: low strength and constitution make physical exchanges with durable elites dangerous 8.
Combos and Precision Attacks
Ye Fengxing combines active crowd-control skills with basic attacks placed at specific locations and timings. In Light of Freedom, he could keep heavily armored Warriors airborne until they died 7.
- Uses strikes to joints and supporting legs to disrupt balance and create openings 1 11.
- Dodges or blocks projectile spells with weapons when his reactions and character agility permit it 5 6.
- Transfers Warrior techniques to his Mage, including physical finishing combos 6 7.
- Combo chains require exact execution and can be broken by sufficiently skilled opponents 7.
Mighty Throw
Mighty Throw lets him hurl a nearby object he can lift. Its additional control effects depend on where the projectile strikes 7.
- Level-one parameters: 37–43 physical damage, 30-meter range, instant cast, and an eight-second cooldown 7.
- Uses “Two Birds with One Stone” to ricochet a stone between two legs, producing a two-second root 7.
- Strikes all of a target’s eyes with a curved, bouncing throw to inflict two seconds of blindness 7.
- Uses thrown objects while kiting enemies that are unsafe to engage physically 8.
Gale Magic and Mobility
His wind specialization emphasizes concealment, control, and escape rather than straightforward damage 20.
- Wind Veil / Wind Stealth: Conceals him for scouting, infiltration, and ambushes; it does not eliminate physical traces of movement 16 23 37 42.
- Blink: Repositions him across ledges, out of charges, and past enemy formations 16 32 39 48.
- Cyclone Bind: Lifts and immobilizes targets, isolating dungeon enemies or interrupting pursuers 22 39 41.
- Wind of Freedom: Provides the speed needed to escape pursuit and rapidly switch targets 41 45 48.
- Chaotic Wind: Used in conjunction with Cyclone Bind during hit-and-run attacks 41.
Fire Magic and Damage over Time
His early fire rotation applies Flame Devours the Body, attacks with Flame Arrow, and uses Explosive Impact before the burning effect expires. Flame Arrow becomes substantially stronger against burning or exploding targets 21 22.
- Sea of Flames: Supplies area damage and can expose a detected invisible opponent 24 35.
- Four overlapping DOTs: Flame Devours the Body, the orb’s ignition, Rotten Ring disease, and Malicious Ring curse continue damaging enemies even after they burrow underground 28.
- Explosive Impact: Detonates his fire DOTs on burning targets and stuns them for four seconds; has a 30-meter range, costs 85 mana, and has a 25-second cooldown 48.
- Observed mass detonation: Deals roughly 1,000 damage per target in the crowded cave and hurls several enemies outside. Ye Fengxing suspects proximity, numbers, and confined terrain contribute to the hidden effect 48.
- His own Explosive Impact does not harm him or his teammates 48.
Dragon Language Magic and Support
- Dragon Language Magic Basics: Improves spell damage, accuracy, and casting speed 21.
- Dragon Language Magic: Completed training grants Dragon Speaker and two additional skills whose names are not provided in the passages 28.
- Clearflow Mending: Heals Adaric gradually while Ye Fengxing attempts to build affinity 32.
- Conjure Food: Learned from Eske alongside Magic Missile 6.
- Skeleton Guards: Assist his solo hunting near the Donar River 28.
Magic Device Control
Magic Devices store one basic spell and fire it automatically at their attack rate. Ye Fengxing initially struggles to land shots while facing away from his target 14 15.
- Practices backward-facing combat for several hours to correct the weakness 15.
- Develops insight into making spells curve rather than relying entirely on automatic targeting 15.
- Uses Eske’s Precious Orb to maintain Magic Missile fire alongside manually cast spells 14 40 48.
Equipment / Weapons / Items

- Mind Flay Staff: Required by the final class quest to extract Martinst’s whereabouts from Rotten Barbara 21.
