Xu Taiping tried to escape Qu Shuang’s matchmaking request without revealing that he knew Qu Shuang was a person in the mirror, but his gamble with Lin Buyu’s name unexpectedly convinced Qu Shuang they were destined for each other. When Xu Taiping reunited with Cloud Crane True Lord and the Pearl Relic House Master, he realized the figures by the spring were impostors.
Xu Taiping realized that the Azure Nether Spring’s reflections had trapped the true bodies of Qu Shuang, Cloud Crane True Lord, and the Pearl Relic House Master, replacing them with Mirror Persons. With Cloud Crane True Lord urging him to enter the spring, Xu Taiping asked Azure-Eyed Evil Lord for help, and Azure-Eyed Evil Lord began draining the spring with his sleeves.
After the Azure-Eyed Evil Lord drained the spirit spring, Xu Taiping and the others set out for the First-Level Barrier ruins. Xu Taiping realized the Primordial Lord might be using the mirror people and a reversed grand formation to awaken, just as Fairy Lingyue woke from her slumber.
Xu Taiping learned that the mirrored figures carried Returning to the Ruins Power, which could reverse the grand formation and awaken the Primordial Lord. As the formation activated, he asked the Azure-Eyed Evil Lord to kill everyone present except them, while Fairy Lingyue vanished after saying she had found a way to kill the Primordial Lord.
Xu Taiping and the Azure-Eyed Evil Lord attacked the Mirror Persons impersonating the Pearl Relic House Master and his companions while they channeled Returning to the Ruins Power. After the Azure-Eyed Evil Lord killed three of them, Elder Qu Shuang transformed into chaotic mist and revealed that he could wield Returning to the Ruins Power.
Qu Shuang took control of his Returning to the Ruins clone and warned Xu Taiping and the Azure-Eyed Evil Lord that the Primordial Lord had set a trap to reverse the grand formation and steal Li Daoyan’s swordsmanship. He explained how his Withering and Flourishing Art True Intent, “Steal Heaven and Swap Sun,” let him escape the Azure Nether Spring and learn the Primordial Lord’s plan.
Qu Shuang explained how to destroy his possessed clone and asked Xu Taiping to preserve his final words for Qu Ningshuang. The Azure-Eyed Evil Lord killed Qu Shuang after he used the Withering and Flourishing Scripture to feign death, and the Lotus Eye’s third Golden Lotus lit up.
Xu Taiping honored Elder Qu Shuang and rallied the survivors by arguing that the Primordial Lord had weakened itself by using the Sun-Moon Guardians and Returning to the Ruins Power. He agreed to stay and fight, while keeping the source of his own foresight secret.
Xu Taiping and the others found that two deaths had left them short of the seven people needed to reactivate the first Grand Formation sealing the Primordial Lord. Xu Taiping offered his Immortal-Inviting Talisman, and Cloud Crane True Lord realized it might be a Supreme-Grade Divine Talisman capable of summoning someone who could fill the gap.
Xu Taiping used the divine-grade Immortal-Inviting Talisman to summon a Heaven Shocking Realm cultivator, hoping to turn the crisis around. The talisman instead dragged out Old Daoist Huang, leaving Xu Taiping baffled because he was only in the Heaven Questioning Realm.
Old Daoist Huang revealed that Qi Haitang and Xiang Nantian had sent him to help Xu Taiping resolve a Heavenly Dao killing calamity, and explained how his breakthrough brought him into the Golden Court Inner Grotto-Heaven. As he began to disclose the rest of his divination, the Primordial Lord stirred, forcing the group to prepare the First Seal Grand Formation.
Xu Taiping activated the ruined Grand Formation with Old Daoist Huang’s help, unleashing a vast assault that wounded the Primordial Lord and erased its aura. Cloud Crane True Lord explained that later Demon Slayers called it the Myriad Gods Formation to honor the more than ten thousand cultivators who died perfecting it.
Xu Taiping learned from Fairy Lingyue that the Earth Fruit could devour the Primordial Lord if they restored its power and protected it from corruption. Fairy Lingyue revealed that the first step required a powerful Sage Relic—and that she herself was the strongest one.
Xu Taiping resisted Fairy Lingyue’s proposal to use the Earth Fruit against the Primordial Lord, but agreed to keep it as a last resort after hearing her plan. When Old Daoist Huang refused to face the danger, Xu Taiping offered to tell him the Earth Treasury Fruit’s whereabouts, and Huang reacted with excitement.
Xu Taiping learned Old Daoist Huang’s warnings and gathered the group’s preparations before they entered the gray mist to confront the Primordial Lord. As they advanced, Xu Taiping’s opened golden lotus revealed a vast army of demonic beasts from the Mysterious Wasteland Tower, while his sword and the formation’s cultivator phantoms rallied behind him.
Xu Taiping saw the Lotus Eye’s new prediction of the group’s doom and its message that it would take black and move first, then prepared to act on its behalf. After the group entered the Primordial Lord’s Gray Mist, they found themselves in an unexpectedly peaceful spring landscape with no one in sight.
Xu Taiping and his companions faced Heart Demons conjured by the Primordial Lord in the Gray Mist, including Old Daoist Huang’s tangled past with a vine demon. After warning that the trials could kill them, Xu Taiping prepared for his own Heart Demon and urged Great Elder Lou to light the lamp.
Xu Taiping warned Cloud Crane True Lord and the others that the Primordial Lord could use Creation Power to summon powerful figures they had seen, not just their Heart Demons. The group faced formidable summoned cultivators and charging Demonic Beast formations, leaving Old Daoist Huang urging Lou Shiyi to light the lamp.
Great Elder Lou began charging the Bodhi Mirror Lamp while Xu Taiping and the others fought off powerful attackers. Xu Taiping defeated a fire lion, then was badly injured by the Heaven-Hunting Great Sage, but drank Hidden Immortal Wine to strengthen himself and prepared to challenge the Sage again.
Xu Taiping fought the Heaven-Hunting Great Sage on equal terms, prompting the Sage to recognize his Martial Dao talent and claim him as a disciple. The Sage and other summoned figures vanished after their true bodies sensed the Primordial Lord’s creation power, leaving Xu Taiping to wonder whether the Sage would remember him.
Xu Taiping led five companions into the Demonic Beast military formations after Great Elder Lou broke through under the Bodhi Mirror Lamp's light. Their combined battle intent shattered several formations, but Xu Taiping could sustain it for only the time it took an incense stick to burn.
Xu Taiping led the six-person formation toward the Primordial Lord while watching for a change in the battlefield, then exposed the Hound Demon God hidden in the enemy's Battle Intent. The chapter ended with Xu Taiping blinding the Hound Demon God and urging Azure-Eyed Evil Lord to finish it off.
Xu Taiping and his companions killed the Hound Demon God and continued breaking through the Demonic Beast Military Formations. After they cleared more than half the battlefield, Xu Taiping spotted the Heartless Demon Emperor and the Eight Demon Emperors commanding a massive formation ahead.
Xu Taiping and the others struggled against the Heartless Demon Emperor and eight Demon Emperors, whose hundred-thousand-strong formation overwhelmed them with Battle Intent. As their formation faced another charge, Xu Taiping reached out to the departed cultivators around him, and their Battle Intent began to surge.
Xu Taiping led five elders and the spectral souls of tens of thousands of dead cultivators in a charge against the Demonic Beasts’ military formation. After breaking through most of the formation despite their fading strength, they faced Heartless Demon Emperor, three Demon Emperors, and a thousand troops.
