Bai Ling'er grew up beside Long Xiao and was betrothed to him in childhood. Before descending to the lower realm, they had been almost inseparable and had promised to travel together with swords in hand 1 41 95.

After she, Long Xiao, Chu Yuxuan, and Xia Yun Yun sneaked into the God-Suppressing Tower, the Four Divine Lords sent them to the lower realm for a year of tempering. Their mothers supplied treasure-filled rings, while Bai Feng assigned Xing Yue to protect the group. She befriends Gu Xun'er, defeats her, and eventually holds second place on the Inner Academy’s Strong Ranking. Her position below Zi Yan reflects her lack of interest in competing with her, rather than a demonstrated inferiority 23 90 101.

She spends six months separated from Long Xiao. Xing Yue’s assurances that he will come find her sustain her hopes, although neither Xing Yue nor Xiao Huohuo tells her the full truth about his apparent death 72 90 95.

Defense Against Nine Nether

When Nine Nether surrounds Jia Nan Academy, Bai Ling'er refuses evacuation and reveals her hidden strength. She confronts more than a hundred Dou Zun, rescues Xiao Huohuo and Curly, and exploits Xiao Huohuo’s mental disruption to strike the invading army 90 91 92 93.

The surviving Dou Zun target the academy to negate her advantage in speed. She blocks their barrage with her phoenix phantom and collapses. Long Xiao arrives, stabilizes her injuries, and destroys the invading forces; afterward, he takes her away for further treatment 93 94 95.

Exploration and Long Xiao’s Confession

Following her recovery and breakthroughs, Bai Ling'er returns to the academy with Long Xiao. They explore beneath the Heaven-Burning Qi Refining Tower, use her World-Breaking Shuttle to cross the cave mansion’s array, and meet Zhu Kun. His account of his missing daughter leads them to suspect Zi Yan’s identity 97 101 103.

Before their departure, Long Xiao confesses his love for Shasha. Bai Ling'er reveals that his sleep-talking had already exposed the relationship. Despite her hurt, she agrees to meet Medusa and help protect her from possible retaliation by her parents 111 112.

Acceptance of Medusa

Bai Ling'er witnesses Medusa’s abduction and urges Long Xiao to return to his clan for help. She remains behind because revealing the situation to her own parents could complicate the rescue, then cultivates in seclusion while awaiting his return 115 150.

Their eventual meeting is amicable: Bai Ling'er approaches Medusa first, proposes that they become close sisters, and joins her in teasing Long Xiao. Medusa later grants Bai Ling'er exceptional standing within the Snake-People Tribe, declaring that seeing her is equivalent to seeing the queen herself 151 152 159.

Wind Thunder Pavilion and Heavenly World
