Shi Yi asked without betraying any emotion.
The Stone Emperor nodded. With a dragon's stride and a tiger's bearing, he walked out of the great hall, every movement carrying the grace and majesty of an emperor.
With his back to Shi Yi, he looked up at the sky and said gravely, "Seated on the imperial throne, possessing an entire kingdom's fortune, my spiritual perception has long since reached the divine.
"I have a vague premonition that when the great calamity descends, I may meet with disaster.
"That is why I must prepare in advance. I originally intended to entrust things to the Great Demon God, but in the end, you emerged victorious from the battle at Martial King Manor."
The Stone Emperor spoke frankly. To him, the choice of whom to entrust the Stone Kingdom to depended partly on their origins and partly on their strength.
As long as their surname was Shi, they were strong enough, and they did not become the lackey of some great power, preserving the Shi Clan's legacy was enough.
"I see. But once the great calamity descends, every Venerable will be targeted. How can you be certain I can escape it?" Shi Yi asked.
"Because you are Xuan Yi, the Xuan Yi with Double Pupils," the Stone Emperor answered simply.
Then he continued, "The Stone Kingdom may appear peaceful, but beneath the surface, dark currents surge. Powers from beyond the region have extended their tentacles here. If something happens to me, the Stone Kingdom will be tossed about by wind and rain. Too many people have their eyes on this throne, and not one of my princes or princesses amounts to anything..."
At this, the Stone Emperor sighed helplessly.
Shi Yi's eyes shone, but no
