The weight on Arthur Ness's mind finally lifted.
Something this simple was no problem at all. He had thought Sephrano would try to recruit him into the Xiangqi Society. If that happened, he would have faced a difficult choice.
Joining would mean betraying Sir Friedman, and traitors seldom came to a good end in any clique, especially traitors who lacked ability. Refusing would mean offending another of Alpha Academy's big shots after the Sir had already sidelined him. That would leave him almost completely isolated in the castle.
Arthur Ness had seen what happened to isolated students. He had no desire to become one of them.
