Background / History

The Original Dai Youheng

The original Dai Youheng was a concubine-born son of Dai Hao, the White Tiger Duke. He was Dai Luoli’s full older brother, Huo Yuhao’s paternal half-brother, and two years older than Huo Yuhao. His martial soul mutated from the family’s inherited White Tiger into the Evil Shadow Demon Tiger 1.

Despite rank-nine innate soul power and substantial family resources, he focused on securing powerful connections rather than cultivating. Knowing Huo Yuhao’s future from the original story, he secretly supplied him with food and necessities, hoping to benefit when Huo Yuhao became a god. He also pursued Xu Jiujiu and sought access to the Tang Sect 1 7.

Xu Jiujiu suggested that she might consider his pursuit if he became one of the Shrek Seven Devils. Already beyond the normal admission age, he entered Shrek through the Dai family’s unrestricted outer-court admission slot. His freshman assessment team reached the semifinals, earning him core disciple status, but his dependence on others continued 1 19.

During the academy holiday, Xu Jiujiu defeated him in three moves and ordered him never to appear before her again. He collapsed in his courtyard shortly before a blood-red rift opened above the continent 1.

Arrival and Replacement

An identical Dai Youheng arrived inside a meteor from the Heavenly Rift and fell toward the Far North. He became the Snow Empress’s vessel and traveled south under her guidance. Soul Beasts and ordinary people initially overlooked him because his presence was almost nonexistent 1 4 5 49.

After locating the original in Star Luo City, he sought a way to kill and absorb him without exposing the existence of two Dai Youhengs. He impersonated the original while humiliating Huang Heyun, provoking Huang into ambushing the original’s carriage outside the city 7 9 10 11 12.

Once Huang Heyun left the wounded original behind, the newcomer confronted him and killed him with ultimate ice. He agreed to assume the dying man’s identity and look after his mother and Dai Luoli. Absorbing his counterpart gave him the Evil Shadow Demon Tiger, its three rings, additional spiritual power, and the missing share of his presence 13 14 15 48.

He did not absorb the original’s everyday memories. On reaching Shrek Academy, he therefore had to recover basic information such as his dormitory assignment through conversation 16.

Appearance

Dai Youheng is described as handsome, with somewhat sinister features; the original and his replacement are physically identical 1 16.

Personality

Original

The original was outwardly gentle, helpful, and courteous, but his generosity was entangled with expectations of future reward. He treated Huo Yuhao kindly while imagining that Huo’s eventual power would elevate his status and secure Xu Jiujiu’s hand. Rejection did not change his conviction that persistence and borrowed influence would succeed 1 7 20.

He was meek toward the legitimate Dai sons, even when Dai Huabin mocked and bullied him. Privately, he resented their treatment and fantasized that Huo Yuhao’s rise would eventually force them to respect him 7.

Replacement

The replacement is composed, calculating, and openly guided by self-interest. His support for Huo Yuhao’s wager was a means of acquiring a Soul Bone; he would have supported Dai Huabin instead had Dai Huabin been certain to win 21.

He can perform kindness or vulnerability to influence others. His “chivalrous thief” behavior combines vanity with enjoyment of secretly controlling people’s fortunes, while his account of family oppression helps win Jiang Nannan’s sympathy 6 36.

His ruthlessness is tempered by caution. He avoids exposing his hidden power, refuses unnecessary confrontations with the entire Dai household, and declines to reveal his ice-pill ability to treat Ma Xiaotao because doing so might cost him his freedom 9 26 33.

He values personal strength and independence over family authority, academy prestige, or the Shrek Seven Devils title. Although he promised to care for the original’s mother and brother, he feels no inherited familial attachment; the Snow Empress is the closest person he considers family 13 25 41.

A Food-type martial soul appearing as an abyss-black pill. Its principal function is enhancement, but its ring-dependent effects extend beyond conventional support 4 5.
