"Hm?" Yao Yuekong turned toward Lu Chen beside him and asked, somewhat puzzled, "Brother, why did you choose that one?"
"Nothing in particular. Just a feeling!" Lu Chen chuckled and said no more, but he had already examined it with the Source Heavenly Arts. The face-sized stone contained Source.
Over the past two years and more, he had studied the Source Heaven Wonders exhaustively. He could now easily judge what lay inside ordinary Source stones.
Only stones shrouded in unusual auras remained uncertain, such as those tainted with the aura of the Primordial Ancient Mine.
"All right, I'll pick it. I trust this brother's luck." After a brief hesitation, Yao Yuekong chose the stone. In truth, he did not believe the stone Lu Chen had pointed out necessarily contained Source. He was simply treating a dead horse as though it might still be saved.
Even if he chose one himself, the result would probably be no different. A stone without Source would still have none.
Gambling on Stones, Gambling on Stones! Everything hinged on that word, "gambling." Ordinary gamblers lost nine times out of ten, while those gambling on Source stones lost ninety-nine times out of a hundred. That showed just how slim the odds were.
"Yao Yuekong, have you made your choice? Cut it open!" Jin Chixiao called, carrying over a millstone-sized rock from the other side.
"Then I'll cut it!" Yao Yuekong said coldly. A small sword appeared in his hand. With a few swift strokes, stone chips flew, and he soon pared the face-sized stone down to the size of a palm.
Suddenly, a ray of purple light shot out, brilliant and dazzling, accompanied by a thick, almost tangible surge of vital essence that spread into the air.
"There's Source!"
"Purple light! He's cut into something rare!"
