History
Poison Dragon Marsh Investigation
The Seven Mysteries Sect posted a mission to investigate suspected cult remnants in the Falling Cloud Mountains. Its warning recommended teams of late-stage Qi Refinement disciples because of the cult’s unusual methods and fearlessness in battle. Han Li accepted alone at the fifth layer of Qi Refinement; the offered reward was 300 contribution points and 50 low-grade spirit stones 11.
At Falling Cloud Market, Han Li purchased intelligence linking recent cult activity to Poison Dragon Marsh. A hunting party of three or four late-stage Qi Refinement cultivators had disappeared nearby, although the cult’s responsibility was only suspected 14.
In the marsh, a five-member patrol surrounded Han Li and demanded his Storage Bag. He killed the squad and learned through soul search that its base was Yin Corpse Cave, where cultists were attempting to access an ancient cultivator’s cave abode 15.
The excavation’s deacon detected Han Li and pursued him to the Profound Yin Altar. Its eruption shattered the deacon’s defenses, allowing Han Li to defeat, soul-search, and kill him. The search yielded a map of the cult’s influence across Heavenly South, information on senior members, control incantations for the local cultists, and details of Venerable Xuan Gu’s cave abode. Surviving cultists scattered 16 17.
Han Family Fort Massacre and Retaliation
After Mo Juren’s death, the Seven Mysteries Sect suspected that he had colluded with the cult. Nangong Wan was assigned to investigate secretly; the connection remained unconfirmed at that point 22.
The cult subsequently massacred Han Family Fort in Mirror Province, killing Han Li’s parents. Han Li counted 445 victims and vowed to exterminate the cult and its kin. The Seven Mysteries Sect’s master interpreted the massacre as retaliation and a direct provocation against the sect 23.
After reaching Foundation Establishment, Han Li infiltrated Ghost Cry Ravine and killed Wu Chou. The steward’s memories confirmed the cult’s responsibility and revealed several perpetrators’ identities and postings. Han Li then killed leaders, escorts, and patrols across the outer territories, spreading panic 24 25.
The cult reinforced its headquarters and dispatched middle-stage Foundation Establishment elders to search for the killer, without success. Han Li postponed a frontal assault after learning that the Cult Master was at late-stage Foundation Establishment and protected by a powerful formation 25.
Blood-Colored Forbidden Land
The Cult Master ordered Elders Wang and Liang to kill Han Li inside the Blood-Colored Forbidden Land and instructed his subordinates to maintain contact with the Shadow Killer Sect 27.
Inside the forbidden land, Han Li killed a middle-stage Foundation Establishment elder and three Qi Refinement Great Perfection cultists who were attacking Liu Mang for blood essence ganoderma 35.
At Blood-Weeping Gorge, Elder Feng’s seven-member group fought for the Mystic Womb Spirit-Transforming Vine. Han Li seized it amid the melee and escaped. Feng later tracked him with an itinerant cultivator, but a nearby Blood-Eyed Demon Ape’s roar forced the pursuers to retreat 36 38.
After the inheritance hall’s fiend-energy trial, the young master and a disguised Shadow Killer Sect elder ambushed the survivors. While his guards fought, the young master attacked the legacy gateway’s restrictions. Han Li killed the allied False Core elder, and the remaining cultivators turned their attacks on the young master 48 49.
The young master nevertheless opened the passage. Beyond it, the apparent legacy proved to be a trap that drained spiritual power, vitality, and souls to awaken an ancient remnant soul. The young master suffered particularly strong suction because his cultivation was the highest. The hall collapsed, and the survivors escaped without obtaining the legacy; his final fate is not specified 50.

Cultivation Methods and Combat Techniques
Corpse Refinement and Ghost Control
- Members specialize in commanding corpses, refining souls, and deploying hostile ghosts 11 14 15.
- The Poison Dragon Marsh patrol used a refined corpse and numerous vicious ghosts; Han Li defeated the corpse and devoured the ghosts’ yin-soul energy 15.
- The marsh deacon intended to turn Han Li into the principal material for a Mystic Yin Fiend Corpse 16.
- The Ghost-Driving Technique is a documented cultivation technique used by a sixth-layer cultist 15.
Yin-Fiend and Poisonous Attacks
- Cult methods can foul magical artifacts and erode spiritual power, disadvantaging opponents of the same realm 14.
- Cultists attack with bone spikes, poisonous mist, and ghostly shadow spells 16.
- The marsh deacon used enormous ghost claws and poisonous, elongated fingernails capable of piercing a high-grade defensive magical artifact 16.
- Their yin-fiend cultivation does not grant immunity to purer fiend energy: the deacon could not withstand Profound Yin True Fiend, and Elder Feng struggled with the hall’s Profound Fiend Power infusion 17 48.
Seven Fiends Ghost Shadow Formation
- Used by seven cult members at Blood-Weeping Gorge to encircle opponents with black vapors and attacking ghost shadows 36.
- A ghost shadow could invade a victim’s body and drain their blood essence, leaving a desiccated corpse 36.
- Nangong Wan resisted its attacks, while outside assaults from rival factions destabilized the battle 36.
Headquarters Defense and Control
- A grand cult-protection formation guards headquarters and deters an early-stage Foundation Establishment frontal assault 25.
- The marsh deacon possessed incantations used to control the cultists stationed there; Han Li obtained them through soul search 17.
