- Regional comparison: Its spiritual energy is less abundant than the Chaotic Star Sea’s, and its cultivation civilization is initially much less developed 236.
- Suitability for recovery: Han Li later favors Heavenly South over Great Jin’s heartland because its energy is purer, steadier, and within territory he controls 377.
- Settlement pattern: Mortal towns, cultivator markets, sect territories, spiritual mountains, and resource sites are distributed across the continent 14 310 380.

Connections to Other Regions
- Chaotic Star Sea: Separated from Heavenly South by the Endless Dead Sea. The passage through Soul-Severing Gorge is dangerous, and travelers must adapt to the different spiritual-energy conditions 250.
- Spatial routes: Space rifts and teleportation arrays provide alternative connections. Han Li first returns through a rift, and later brings more than three thousand Star Palace cultivators through a teleportation route to Heavenly South’s border 236 322.
- Mulan Grassland and Great Jin: The grassland lies along the route between Heavenly South and Great Jin. Han Li’s northern campaign is intended partly to open access to Great Jin 319 326 329.
- Long-distance travel: Great Jin and Heavenly South are hundreds of millions of li apart, with barriers including the Mulan Grassland and Boundless Sea. Ordinary Nascent Soul cultivators would require years, potentially more than a decade, to fly between them 377.
- Direct infiltration: Han Li also enters Great Jin through an extremely unstable spatial node connecting the two regions 355.
History
Ancient Cultivators
Venerable Xuan Gu’s surviving account describes him sweeping across Heavenly South in ancient times, pursuing slaughter and creating the Profound Fiend Asura Art. He ultimately perished beneath his Nascent Soul heavenly tribulation, leaving remains and a cultivation inheritance 18.
According to Star Palace records, no Mulan Grassland separated Heavenly South from Great Jin ten thousand years earlier. Venerable Cang Kun, then regarded as Heavenly South’s foremost cultivator, attempted to open the Star Sea Ancient Road to Great Jin. He died in meditation in the Ancient Cultivator Ruins within what later became the grassland 352.
Han Li’s Early Years
Han Li first attracts regional attention when reports of his dark spiritual root and ruthless victories spread beyond the Seven Mysteries Sect. Nangong Wan remarks that Heavenly South has been peaceful for too long and that his emergence may disturb its established order 6.
The Blood-Colored Forbidden Land brings together elite disciples from Heavenly South’s major sects and cultivation clans, with rogue cultivators also joining the competition. Among these powers, the Seven Mysteries Sect is only second-rate 12 32 34.
Han Li eventually escapes the Black Fiend Cult Master through an unstable spatial vortex. After surviving severe injuries in unfamiliar territory, he discovers that he has reached the Chaotic Star Sea 80 91.
Return and the Blood Fiend Campaign
Han Li returns through a space rift, recognizing Heavenly South as his birthplace and the land of his earliest cultivation memories. The passage describes his return as occurring after several hundred years 236.
He later returns with Star Palace forces to avenge the devastation caused by the Blood Fiend Cult. The Seven Mysteries Sect has barely more than twenty survivors, whom he offers protection, resources, and positions within the Star Palace 253 256.
At Yellow Maple Valley, Han Li establishes the Heavenly South Star Palace, combining the valley’s disciples, Seven Mysteries Sect remnants, and incoming Star Palace cultivators. Following the Blood Fiend Cult’s destruction, he supplies resources to unite local righteous sects into the Righteous Path Alliance 257 268.
War Against the Demonic Sects
The Six Demonic Sects and Loose Demon Alliance plan coordinated attacks on the new alliance. Han Li’s forces respond with strikes against their branch headquarters, while the later Five Demonic Sects offensive threatens Star-Magnetic Peak and several allied sects 269 275 290.
Han Li returns in time to repel Venerable Bone Nether and save the headquarters. He is formally appointed Alliance Leader, then consolidates the alliance despite sect resistance, resentment over appointments, and covert demonic interference 291 292 295 301.
More than thirty factions subsequently join an anti-demon coalition under his supreme command. After the Five Demonic Sects are annihilated, their territories and treasuries pass to the victorious alliance. Access to powerful inheritances persuades more than thirty factions to merge into the Star Palace 303 310 311 312.
Mulan War
Han Li leads a hundred-thousand-strong army north against the Heavenly Lan Holy Temple. Yue Li’s awakening of the Origin Bright Lamp routs the expedition; fewer than sixty percent of its soldiers reach Heavenly South’s border 329 338.
The defeat triggers attacks on outlying resource sites, renewed demonic activity, and attempts by dissatisfied sects to seek support from rival alliances. Heavenly South’s three major powers eventually cooperate against Yue Li, culminating in the battle at Soul-Severing Slope 340 347 348.
Han Li defeats Yue Li and seizes the damaged Origin Bright Lamp, securing a costly victory. The Star Palace subsequently administers the Mulan tribes through its Border Garrison Camp 349 377.
Complete Unification
Han Li’s return as a Deity Transformation cultivator overturns Heavenly South’s balance of power. The realm is described as one no cultivator in the Southern Heaven cultivation world had truly entered in ten thousand years 378.
Within half a year, the Nine Nations Alliance surrenders its core resource sites and archive copies, while Heavenly Dao Alliance sects submit and offer tribute. Han Li declares the Star Palace Heavenly South’s sole ruling power and appoints Lu Yun to administer the region 380.
Over the following century, Heavenly South and the Chaotic Star Sea become integrated through controlled shipping routes and teleportation networks. Star-Magnetic Peak’s headquarters expands to more than ten times its former size, and the Star Palace focuses on administration, border security, and suppression of internal instability 381.
Factions and Government
| Faction | Position in Heavenly South |
|---|---|
| Star Palace | Develops from an expeditionary presence into the continent’s centralized ruling institution under Han Li 257 311 380. |
| Righteous Path Alliance | Coalition founded after the Blood Fiend Cult’s fall; becomes the core of Han Li’s anti-demon military alliance 268 303. |

| Blood Fiend Cult | Former leader of the demonic path, controlling seventy percent of its cultivation resources and thirty-six branch headquarters before its destruction 260 268. |
| Five Demonic Sects | Oppose the Star Palace and Righteous Path Alliance; their destruction provides territory, wealth, and inheritances for consolidation 290 310 311. |
| Heavenly Dao Alliance | Ancient western alliance comprising the Ancient Sword Sect, Falling Cloud Sect, Phoenix-Cry Sect, and Hundred Crafts Academy; ultimately submits to the Star Palace 312 380. |
| Nine Nations Alliance | Ancient alliance including the Transformation Intent Sect and Beiye Sect; ultimately loses independent control of its resources and military elites 312 380. |
| Myriad Treasures Pavilion | Influential commercial organization whose Heavenly South holdings are confiscated for three years after its Azure Mist Branch is exposed supplying poison pills to demonic remnants 310. |
Star Palace Administration
- Heavenly South Guardian: Lu Yun oversees regional military and civil affairs, with authority to execute those refusing submission before reporting the matter 380.

Resources and Cultivation Infrastructure
- Local resources: Spirit fields, mineral veins, medicinal gardens, natural treasures, and cultivator markets support the region’s sects and economy 14 257 267.
- Captured wealth: The Five Demonic Sects’ combined treasuries yield nearly four billion lower-grade spirit stones, over one hundred million middle-grade stones, 1.8 million upper-grade stones, seven top-grade stones, and more than four thousand cultivation arts and secret manuals 311.
- Merit-based access: Star Palace resources and cultivation rights are distributed through contribution systems. Joining factions gain access to portions of the Great Evolutionary Sword Art and, under specified conditions, the Star Essence Soul-Refining Art 311.
- Training institutions: The Dao Inquiry Pavilion offers Han Li’s lectures, while the Scripture Repository supplies cultivation texts. Pill and artifact halls convert resources into usable supplies 303.
- Rogue-cultivator employment: Resource gathering, escort work, and designated beast-hunting missions provide merit points redeemable for instruction and cultivation methods 315.
- Interregional exchange: After unification, Heavenly South contributes population and resources while the Chaotic Star Sea supplies rare treasures and large quantities of low-grade materials 381.
