Chapter 22: Bei Bei Would Just Have to Suffer

Shrek City, in what had originally been the central region of the Douluo Continent.

Night had deepened, and the stars were dim. A streak of silver light swept across the pitch-black sky from afar, trailing a dazzling plume that seemed to cleave the heavens in two.

As it drew closer to Shrek City, the streak gradually slowed, finally landing in a patch of woods outside the eastern gate.

The light faded, revealing Ye Xixuan and Zhang Lexuan.

Although releasing spatial spider silk through his External Soul Bone, the Heavenly Spider Claws, consumed less soul power than releasing dark spider silk, that was only a relative comparison. Ye Xixuan could not keep flying that way indefinitely. In the end, Zhang Lexuan had to carry him with her Flying Soul Tool.

However, familiarizing himself with his External Soul Bone's abilities earlier had delayed them, so they had only now returned to Shrek City.

Ye Xixuan withdrew the silver Heavenly Spider Claws into his body, and the transparent spider silk wrapped around them both vanished as well. "At her age, she should be entering the outer court this year, shouldn't she?"

"That's right." Ye Xixuan nodded with a smile.

"Sister Xiaoya's second soul ring was thanks to your help, too."

"It was nothing." Zhang Lexuan could not help sighing softly. "The academy does owe the Tang Sect a debt. Dean Yan's intention was also to have her stay and study in the outer court, then eventually rebuild the Tang Sect through her own strength. Besides, Mu En has always supported you in helping her."

"I understand, Sister Lexuan," Ye Xixuan said earnestly.

Although this was only the first day of Shrek Academy's admissions period, the area outside the eastern gate was already bustling that evening. Vendors hawked their wares all along both sides of the main road, brightly illuminated by soul-tool streetlights. There were also unfamiliar faces among the crowds, presumably new students who had come to apply and register at Shrek Academy.

"Xixuan!" Just then, a delighted, girlish cry came from behind him.

Ye Xixuan turned around, only for a lovely figure to barrel straight into his arms. By the time he reacted, all he could see was a black ponytail flying up and tracing a graceful arc through the air.

After absorbing the Shadow Sky Demon Spider's soul ring and soul bone, Ye Xixuan had grown to roughly Tang Ya's height.

Tang Ya crashed squarely into his embrace, then lifted her long, shapely legs without the slightest concern for appearances, hanging her entire body on him and wriggling excitedly.

Ye Xixuan instinctively supported Tang Ya's soft yet firm thighs with both hands, but out of the corner of his eye, he spotted another girl standing nearby.

The girl's stunning beauty was in no way inferior to Tang Ya's. Witnessing Tang Ya and Ye Xixuan's overly intimate behavior up close, her somewhat blank expression instantly gave way to a crimson blush, and she became terribly embarrassed.

"Tang Ya, I'm heading back to the dorm." Still, the girl politely said goodbye to Tang Ya before turning and walking briskly away. It would be more accurate to say she fled. Much of the favorable impression she had just formed of Tang Ya's kindness dissipated once again.

She already has a boyfriend at such a young age...

Not everyone had Tang Ya's carefree disposition. Given the girl's upbringing, this was absolutely enough to shatter her entire worldview.

"Nannan, see you tomorrow!" The oblivious Tang Ya noticed nothing amiss. She turned her head and waved casually at the girl. Perhaps it was her imagination, but she felt that the girl quickened her pace even further upon hearing her voice.

Watching the girl disappear from view, Ye Xixuan seemed to realize something and could not help asking Tang Ya, "Sister Xiaoya, who was that?"

"Her name is Jiang Nannan. She's my roommate-I just met her today." Tang Ya giggled, but when she noticed that Ye Xixuan seemed distracted, she immediately puffed out her cheeks and reached up to pinch his ear lightly.

"Hmph! You're already eyeing pretty girls at your age! You're learning nothing but bad habits!"

Ye Xixuan had merely recalled what he knew about Jiang Nannan from his previous life. He shook his head helplessly.

"Sister Xiaoya, you've misunderstood."

"All right, I'm just teasing you." Seeing Ye Xixuan's obedient expression, Tang Ya laughed sweetly, released his ear, and hopped down from his body.

"Who do you think is prettier, her or me?"

"If you ask me, of course you're prettier, Sister Xiaoya." After years of Bei Bei's influence, Ye Xixuan simply decided to tell Tang Ya what she wanted to hear.

"Besides, I didn't even get a clear look at her just now."

"What a silver tongue. I think those senior students in the inner court have been teaching you bad habits." Tang Ya was delighted to hear it, though her words said otherwise.

"Has someone been teaching you to talk to girls like that?"

"A senior brother named Bei Bei did tell me about these things." Without a second thought, Ye Xixuan sold Bei Bei out. Since Bei Bei could sell him out to their eldest senior sister, he could sell Bei Bei out to Tang Ya. That counted as returning the favor.

At this, Tang Ya instantly widened her eyes in alarm and warned him solemnly, "Spend less time with this Bei Bei fellow from now on. He definitely isn't a good person. Do you hear me?"

"Yes, Sister Xiaoya." Ye Xixuan obediently agreed, but as he connected the scene before him with his memories of his previous life, his expression became rather peculiar. Still, since meeting Tang Ya first had changed the world's course, Senior Brother Bei would just have to suffer.

Tang Ya nodded in satisfaction, took Ye Xixuan's hand, and giggled. "Come on, let's go home."
