Background / History

Bei Bei’s parents died one after the other during his childhood. Mu En later regretted the oath he had required of Zhang Lexuan, which bound her to become Bei Bei’s child bride. Bei Bei himself regarded her as an older sister rather than a romantic partner 11 12.

Raised on Sea God Island, Bei Bei received Mu En’s personal training and was pampered by the Inner Court’s teachers and students. His exceptional talent and protected upbringing gave him little experience of setbacks. At nine, he complained that the older students treated him as a child and that Xu Sanshi was his only acquaintance of the same age. Mu En planned to let him enter the Outer Court two years later 8 10.

Appearance

• Hair: Short, dark blue hair with a lustrous, gemlike sheen under the academy’s lamps 12.
• Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon possession: A lightning-shaped mark appears on his forehead, blue-violet electricity surrounds him, and lightning dances in his eyes. At the two-ring stage, possession otherwise leaves his body unchanged 9.

Personality

Bei Bei presents himself as gentle and cultured, but enjoys teasing his friends and setting them up for embarrassing situations. He repeatedly calls Xu Sanshi a “damned turtle,” hides his martial soul evolution to maximize its eventual reveal, and eagerly arranges sparring matches after experiencing difficult opponents himself 10 12 26 29.

His pride does not initially prevent him from recognizing another person’s ability. Although Ye Xixuan’s arrival makes him jealous and uneasy, their first match earns his sincere admiration. He openly admits that he was far weaker at Ye Xixuan’s age 8 10.

Continued comparison with Ye Xixuan exposes a deeper insecurity. Bei Bei had assumed that his ancestry, bloodline, and talent placed him at the world’s pinnacle; Mu En identifies his growing fear of defeat and urges him to reconsider how he measures himself against others 29.

Tang Ya’s kindness and sunny disposition attract him more than the exceptional talents of the senior sisters he grew up around. His feelings also cloud his judgment: he interprets her closeness with Ye Xixuan as potentially sibling-like despite Xu Sanshi’s warnings 36.

Bei Bei’s original Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon is a top-tier beast martial soul. Its complete evolution into the Radiant Sacred Dragon gives him control over both light and thunder 9 27.

• Dragon Transformation: The original martial soul normally begins bodily dragon transformation after its wielder obtains a third soul ring. Bei Bei later demonstrates a fully transformed golden dragon arm 9 27.

• Cannot be sustained indefinitely; its remaining duration influences his decision to end their match with a decisive charge 28.

Mu En’s training gives Bei Bei precise skill control and the ability to exploit openings in close combat 10.

• Mu En — Great-great-grandfather and childhood trainer. Guides his bloodline evolution, challenges his fear of losing, and instructs him to join the Tang Sect 8 10 15 29.
• Zhang Lexuan — Older-sister figure who watched over him closely. Her childhood oath originally bound her to become his bride, but Mu En redirects her promise toward protecting Ye Xixuan. Bei Bei feels considerable awe toward her and welcomes relief from her supervision 11 12 13.

• Ye Xixuan’s speed, versatile shadow weapons, and attribute suppression initially put Bei Bei on the defensive 9.
• Bei Bei regains the initiative through compressed Thunder Dragon Claws and closer combat. Ye Xixuan exhausts his soul power and concedes; Bei Bei responds with respect rather than mockery 10.

Soul Hunt and Rematch

• Mu En arranges a search for a millennium subdragon possessing the Radiant Sacred Dragon bloodline to complete Bei Bei’s evolution 15 16.
• Bei Bei returns as a three-ring Soul Elder and reveals his evolved martial soul during a rematch, shocking Xu Sanshi 26 27.
• The match ends without a declared winner. Ma Xiaotao states that neither contestant fought at full strength, while Mu En later confronts Bei Bei about his fear of losing 29.

Outer Court and the Tang Sect
