Chapter 50: The same destination: Star Dou Great Forest
Early one morning, three days later, two figures walked out through Shrek City's southern gate. They were Ye Xixuan and Tang Ya.
Because Shrek Academy stood near the Star Dou Great Forest, its teachers often led students into the forest to hunt soul beasts. There had even been major incidents in which vast numbers of soul beasts launched beast tides against Shrek Academy. As a result, the soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest harbored intense hostility toward the academy, and the strongest among them occupied the side facing it.
To be safe, Ye Xixuan and Tang Ya planned to head south first, then circle east and enter the Star Dou Great Forest from directly south. Relatively speaking, there would be fewer powerful soul beasts in that direction.
Tang Ya had proposed this herself. She had also bought plenty of supplies in Shrek City for their trip to the Star Dou Great Forest, which was why their departure had been delayed until today.
A faint morning mist hung in the fresh air.
Shrek City stood in the center of the Lima Plain. As far as the eye could see, the terrain was flat and open. Dense forests and clear, winding rivers dotted the landscape, while endless green grasslands stretched between them.
Tang Ya ran a few cheerful steps ahead, closed her eyes, and drew a deep breath, feeling as though she were floating. As a plant-type soul master, she loved this sort of environment most of all.
She was always so full of life. Looking around delightedly, she called for Ye Xixuan to hurry up.
"Xixuan, come on!"
"Before the break, didn't Sister Nannan say she would help you hunt soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest, Sister Xiaoya? Why didn't you ask her to come with us?" Ye Xixuan approached with a gentle smile and took one of Tang Ya's hands. Its soft, pleasantly cool touch brought an extraordinary calm to his heart.
Tang Ya stopped and rolled her eyes at him with playful reproach.
"You're such an idiot. If Nannan came along, would we still have a chance to spend time alone?"
"That's true." Ye Xixuan had only mentioned it casually. Seeing Tang Ya's enchanting expression, however, stirred his heart once again.
"Sister Xiaoya..."
"I really don't know what to do with you." Of course, Tang Ya knew what was on his mind. She guided his hands onto her supple waist, then raised a slender, delicate finger and tapped her red lips with a mischievous giggle.
"I've been teaching you for so many days. This time, you'll have to do it yourself."
Heat rose in Ye Xixuan's chest. Tang Ya's innocent nature only made her more capable of awakening his instincts as a man. The feeling she gave him was the complete opposite of Ma Xiaotao's-they were two extremes.
His hands gradually slid down from Tang Ya's slender waist as though beyond his control. A captivating flush spread over her pretty face, and her eyes shimmered. Not a trace remained of the composure she had shown while guiding him earlier.
"No wonder you used to keep staring at my legs. Now that you can actually touch them, you must be very pleased with yourself."
"Sister Xiaoya, don't you like it?"
Ye Xixuan chuckled, then pressed himself against Tang Ya, leaving her unable to say another word.
Under Tang Ya's tutelage over the past few days, he had come to understand his own heart completely. He was close to his eldest senior sister, but he liked Tang Ya too. His desire to possess them was no different.
The two walked and stopped along the way, their journey filled with cheerful chatter and laughter. These might have been the happiest days they had experienced in years. They had nothing to worry about, driven only by the pure affection in their hearts.
The Ice Sea of the Far North.
A biting wind howled, sweeping up flurries of snow like blades of ice crystal.
An enormous icebreaker sailed out from the depths of the Ice Sea in the Far North. Snowflakes struck its hard metal hull and shattered instantly, dissolving into fine icy mist that dispersed between heaven and earth.
The entire sea was a vast expanse of white.
A silver-haired girl in a white fox-fur cloak stood quietly on the deck. Her long silver hair fluttered in the wind, and her emerald eyes seemed to hold boundless tenderness. Like a spirit amid the ice and snow, she let out a soft sigh.
"At last, it's time to return to Heaven Dou City..."
A snow-white coastline was faintly visible in the distance. There stood Lingbo City, the largest city in the northwestern Heaven Dou Empire. To the empire's north lay the rarely traveled Far North. To its west, south, and east, it bordered the Sun Moon Empire, Star Luo Empire, and Dou Ling Empire respectively. Only a short stretch of its territory lay along the sea.
Lingbo City's Lingbo Harbor was the largest port in the Heaven Dou Empire.
Just then, the girl seemed to sense something and turned around.
A thin, short middle-aged man walked over to her. His head was unusually large, with only a few sparse strands of hair on it, giving him an extremely peculiar appearance.
The girl greeted the middle-aged man with a respectful, graceful bow.
"Teacher."
"Vina, your soul power has just reached level 40. Once we return to Heaven Dou City, I'll take you to the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain a soul ring. Ice-attribute plant-type soul beasts suitable for you are actually easier to find there than in the Far North." The middle-aged man's gaze was exceptionally gentle as he looked at her.
"Considering the special nature of mental-attribute soul masters like us, once your
cultivation reaches the Soul Saint level, you can actually try adding soul rings to your second martial soul. Unfortunately, your primary martial soul is support-type rather than power attack-type. Otherwise, you could begin by cultivating your mental-attribute brain martial soul directly. Sufficiently powerful spiritual power offers tremendous benefits for your future cultivation."
"Teacher, are you about to break through?" Vina asked with a hint of delighted surprise, as though something had occurred to her.
The middle-aged man smiled and nodded.
"Mental-attribute soul masters may be somewhat lacking in offensive methods, but when it comes to breaking through to the Titled Douluo realm, there isn't any bottleneck." The stronger one's spiritual power, the easier it was to condense a soul core. That was inevitable.
In fact, once mental-attribute soul masters became Titled Douluos, they could almost always cultivate smoothly to the Super Douluo realm, above level 95.
That was precisely why this second-generation Body Sect disciple, Lang Ya, had become Vina's teacher. He was essentially already assured of becoming a Super Douluo in the future.
"It should happen within the next two or three years."
"Then let me congratulate you in advance on becoming a Titled Douluo, Teacher," Vina said with a radiant smile.
"It's hardly worth mentioning. With your talent, your future achievements will only surpass mine."
Lang Ya waved a hand with a chuckle. "When we disembark in Lingbo City, let's visit the Ling Family while we're there. The sect received some information that the Night Family of Heavenly Spirit City, which was wiped out without cause five years ago, apparently had a genius with a body martial soul. His whereabouts are now unknown, however. The Ling Family and the Night Family have been close for generations, so they should know something."
"Hmph! Those evil soul masters had some nerve, making our sect lose such an astonishing genius. A body martial soul with an innate darkness attribute-talent like that surpasses even Ao Tian's. He could surely have inherited the sect master's position and carried on the Body Sect's glory."
The White Tiger Duke's Mansion, fifty li northwest of Star Luo City.
A thin, small boy slipped silently out through the rear gate on the northern side of the Duke's Mansion. His deep-blue eyes brimmed with hatred.
Mom, please watch over me from heaven. One day, I'll return here, trample everything beneath my feet, and make them pay. From today onward, I'll take your surname. My surname will be Huo-Huo Yuhao!
