Family and Academy Life

Lu Piao comes from a wealthy noble family headed by his father, Lu Ning. Before the group’s money-making ventures, he has saved 2,000 Demon Spirit Coins and receives a monthly allowance of 500. Nevertheless, the 60,000-coin Wind and Snow-inscribed Bronze Bracers he admires remain far beyond his means 4.

At the Holy Orchid Institute, he joins Du Ze in standing beside Nie Li after Shen Xiu punishes Nie Li for challenging her contempt toward commoners. Rather than openly explain his solidarity, Lu Piao claims that sitting has made his back ache. Wei Nan, Zhang Ming, and Zhu Xiangjun subsequently join them 3.

Horned Sheep Hunting

The Sky Screen shows Lu Piao helping Nie Li and Du Ze earn cultivation funds by hunting Horned Sheep in the Trial Grounds. Initially assigned to attract attention, he becomes the target of a charging sheep. He briefly traps it between two trees, but his crossbow shot hits its horn and sends it berserk; Nie Li saves him with an anesthetic-coated bolt 5.

Lu Piao continues serving as bait while the other two make the kills. The trio hunts through seven nights, selling horns, Demon Crystals, and pelts until they have enough money for Nie Li’s next plan. Their sleepless hunting leaves them struggling to stay awake in class 6.

Protection and Cultivation

After the first Sky Screen broadcast ends, Lu Piao accompanies Nie Li’s circle to the City Lord’s Mansion, where Ye Zong offers them protection. Nie Li uses unused Soul Crystals to examine their Soul Seas and selects the Chaos Sacred Spirit Art for Lu Piao 12 13.

Despite being the group’s laziest member, Lu Piao joins their cultivation effort because he intends to help Nie Li and does not want to hold his friends back. He also hopes that growing stronger will keep his father from beating him during visits home 13.

Gulan City Expedition

Lu Piao joins the expedition to Gulan City. His first attempt at a cloud-mud disguise produces a face he considers too ugly to wear outside, so Nie Li reshapes it for him. The travelers also dye their hair black and change their clothing to conceal their identities 25.

During the battle against a silver five-star Spirit-Rank Azure-Armed Giant Ape, Lu Piao again acts as bait, drawing the beast toward Nie Li’s position in the trees. He then joins Ye Ziyun, Xiao Ning’er, and Du Ze in attacking it with silver-rank inscription scrolls, helping finish the poisoned and wounded beast 27.

In the treasure chamber beneath Gulan City’s Drill Ground, Lu Piao celebrates by rolling in the gold coins. After the companions select individual treasures, they divide the remaining money and valuables equally. He later helps Du Ze lift the stone coffin’s lid, exposing a torn page from the Book of Time and Space Spirit and the Deep Sapphire necklace 28 30.

The group returns to Glory City aboard Nie Li’s newly subdued Golden Feather Eagle. Excited by the ride, Lu Piao asks when he will be able to raise a demonic beast of his own 31.

Personality

Lu Piao is restless, playful, and quick to turn a serious conversation into a joke. When accused of daydreaming all day, he insists that he dreams for only half the day. He routinely teases Nie Li about Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning’er, treating their interactions as opportunities for gossip 4 9 16.

His laziness contrasts with his loyalty. He willingly considers giving his savings to help his friends become Demon Spirit Masters, stands beside Nie Li against Shen Xiu, and commits himself to becoming useful to the group 3 4 13.

His ambitions are modest compared with his potential: he says he would be satisfied with becoming a Silver Demon Spirit Master. Wealth and rewards motivate him much more visibly—he loudly celebrates hunting profits, delights in Gulan City’s treasure, and regains his energy during exhausting training when Nie Li promises a treat 6 13 28 34.
