When Cheng Tian let Froakie out, the others took out their Poké Balls and released their Pokémon too.
"Chim!" "Pachi!" "Vee~" Chimchar, Pachirisu, and Sylveon appeared on the field.
It was the three little Pokémon's first time seeing Sylveon, and they were all curious. "Pachi?" Pachirisu went over and looked curiously at the pink Sylveon's white ribbons.
"Vee!" Sylveon held a ribbon out in front of Pachirisu to tease it, making the little Pokémon giggle.
"Chim?" Chimchar simply thought Sylveon was pretty, though its colors were too flashy. After a few more looks, it ran over to Bai Yun. "Aren't you going to play with them?" "Chim!" Chimchar made it clear that it didn't play with little brats.
Cheng Tian glanced over and noticed another move on Chimchar's move panel. Bulk Up (Lv. 1) could tense all the muscles in its body to raise its Attack and Defense.
Apparently, this was the TM Bai Yun had bought for Chimchar. He had to admit that it suited Chimchar very well.
"Honestly, you..." Bai Yun shook his head helplessly. Chimchar sat cross-legged, and a faint brown glow began to appear around its body.
A barely perceptible aura gathered around Chimchar. Its eyes narrowed slightly, but anyone looking closely would have noticed light shimmering in them.
"What's Chimchar doing? Has it stopped watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and decided to start cultivating immortality?" Lin Lin asked in surprise. "Uh... no..." Some unpleasant memories surfaced in Bai Yun's mind. "It happened one afternoon..."
It happened one afternoon, when Bai Yun was watching Japanese anime with Chimchar. Bai Yun clearly had a plan of his own: he was going to correct Chimchar's strange hobby! To that end, he played all sorts of anime for Chimchar.
The results, however, were less than satisfactory... Chimchar had no interest whatsoever in any Japanese anime other than JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Left with no choice, Bai Yun ended up watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with it.
When the protagonists began bursting with auras of all different colors during their fights, Chimchar could no longer sit still. It crossed its legs and used Focus Energy. Nothing much happened at first, but as time went on, its aura grew stronger and stronger.
Bai Yun was astonished. Was Chimchar trying to develop its own Ripple?!
(Ripple was a technique commonly used by the protagonists in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Different Ripples produced different effects.)
For that reason, Bai Yun had gone to a physical store specifically to buy a Bulk Up TM, then taken Chimchar to the Pokémon Center to learn it. At that point, Chimchar's self-developed "Ripple" had begun to take shape... Focus Energy plus Bulk Up. The brown aura surrounding Chimchar was Fighting-type energy.
Bai Yun felt both delighted and worried. He was delighted that, like Froakie, Chimchar had developed its own ways of using moves from watching Japanese anime. What worried him was that Chimchar was heading farther and farther down the path of becoming a JoJo character...
"That's pretty much what happened..." Bai Yun finished recounting his memories and looked at everyone's odd expressions. Lin Lin sighed. "Ah, it's a shame Pachirisu doesn't like watching Japanese anime. Otherwise, it might develop other ways to use its moves too."
"Hmm... I suppose we can only say that Cheng Tian's and Bai Yun's Pokémon have a wide range of interests..."
They chatted in the shade, letting their Pokémon play.
"Froak?" Froakie watched Sylveon teasing Pachirisu, wondering why it was so pretty.
"Vee~" Sylveon noticed Froakie watching it and blinked its big blue Carslan eyes.
This little blue Pokémon seemed to be the one it had seen yesterday. Remembering Froakie kicking its stubby legs on the pedestrian bridge yesterday, Sylveon stopped teasing Pachirisu and walked over to Froakie instead.
"Vee~" Sylveon brought its face close and sniffed Froakie. "Fro... froak..." Froakie's face flushed bright red. From this close, Sylveon looked even cuter, and it had a pleasant, milky scent.
"Vee?" Sylveon looked at the foam around Froakie's neck and nudged it with its little nose. Some foam stuck to its nose, which Sylveon found entertaining, but it soon dissipated.
"Froak." Seeing this, Froakie pulled a clump of foam from its neck to offer Sylveon. But Sylveon merely gave a sweet smile, leaned in again, and nudged Froakie's neck with its nose.
"Froak!" For some reason, a tingling sensation spread from Froakie's neck. "Vee~ Vee~" Sylveon buried its face in the foam, enjoying its soft, damp feel.
Although Froakie was a little shy, it didn't refuse and simply let Sylveon play with its foam.
"Hey, Cheng Tian, Froakie and Sylveon are getting along really well." Seeing Sylveon like this, Su Han smiled at Cheng Tian.
Just then, a soccer ball flew over from a distance, heading straight for Sylveon. "Froak!" Froakie reacted in a flash, leaping up and kicking the ball back, only to fall to the ground.
"Are you all right, Froakie?"
"Froak..." Lying on the ground, Froakie raised a little white hand and waved it to show that it was fine.
"Sorry! We accidentally kicked the ball over here," two boys said as they hurried over.
"It's fine. Just be more careful next time and don't kick it toward people," Cheng Tian replied. The two boys took their ball and ran off.
"Vee~" Sylveon leaned toward Froakie as it lay on the ground, its big blue eyes full of gratitude. It lowered its head, stuck out its little pink tongue, and licked Froakie's cheek.
"Froak!"
What's going on? Why is my heart beating so fast?!
Froakie felt its heart racing. Normally, that only happened during a battle.
Looking up at Sylveon's smiling face, Froakie tried to get up, but felt as though it had no strength.
"Vee~" Sylveon extended its ribbons and lifted Froakie up. "Froak..." Froakie sat on the grass, scratching its head shyly.
"Vee~ Vee~" Seeing Froakie like this, Sylveon thought from the bottom of its heart that Froakie was wonderful. It had protected Sylveon, yet it got embarrassed so easily. It was simply too cute!
"Froakie, come here. Let me check whether you're hurt," Cheng Tian called from a distance. "Sylveon, you come over too. You could get heatstroke out there."
"Froak!" "Vee~" Froakie wanted to walk over, but Sylveon wrapped a ribbon around its arm and led it over instead.
"Sylveon, do you really like Froakie?" Su Han asked with a smile when she saw Sylveon clinging to Froakie.
"Vee~" Sylveon nodded, then leaned over and kissed Froakie. "Froak! Froak!" Froakie's face instantly turned red again.
Seeing Froakie like this, Cheng Tian nodded in satisfaction.
Hmm... looks like springtime is coming for Froakie!
