On Wednesday afternoon, the Pokémon Studies students of Bingzhou No. 1 High School walked out through the school gates under their teachers' guidance.

Teacher Zhou, who was leading Class One, clapped his hands. "All right, you'll be heading to your assigned mission locations on your own from here. Stay safe on the way. Once you finish your missions, you can go straight home."

"Awesome!" Everyone cheered. Inside the school, the students who weren't in Pokémon Studies watched those outside the gates with envy and jealousy written all over their faces. Before long, Lin Lin was the only one left at the intersection. Watching the other three retreat into the distance, she looked deeply aggrieved. "Those jerks just left me here."

Lin Lin patted the hood on the back of her clothes. "Pachirisu, wake up. The operation's about to start."

"Pachi!" Pachirisu poked its head out of the hood, indicated that it was ready whenever needed, then ducked back inside.

"I've reached the intersection on the west side of Jingxi Road." "I'm on the shopping street." "I'm in position in the residential complex." Their voices came through the phone.

"We're all in position. Start the operation, Lin Lin," Cheng Tian said.

Looking down the street, Lin Lin couldn't help swallowing. Then she gathered her courage and walked farther in.

At 3:25 p.m., Lin Lin walked alone along Jingxi Road. In her hand, she held an item shaped like a Skitty's tail that she had brought from home. When trainers encountered wild Pokémon, this item could draw their attention, allowing the trainers to escape safely.

Although it was an escape item, it could produce unexpected results at certain times. With Lin Lin holding it before she had encountered any Pokémon, it could have the opposite effect of attracting Pokémon.

"Report! She has passed the first intersection and is continuing forward." Bai Yun's theatrically dramatic voice came through the phone.

"Why haven't those Poochyena shown up yet? Has our operation been exposed?" Su Han asked. She was in the residential complex's guard booth, monitoring every movement on the street.

"Maybe we should just forget it. I don't think this is going to attract them..." Lin Lin walked cautiously, even her voice growing faint with fear.

"Don't rush. Keep walking," Cheng Tian said. Helpless, Lin Lin could only continue advancing.

"Grrr..." Just then, gray dogs emerged one after another from both sides of the street, beneath cars, and behind buildings. Their eyes were red, with yellow whites. They were the targets of this mission: Poochyena!

Poochyena were omnivorous Pokémon that ate anything, immediately biting anything they found moving. They would bare their sharp fangs and bristle the fur on their tails to intimidate enemies. Now, seven or eight Poochyena had emerged onto the street, low growls rumbling in their throats as they stared menacingly at the lone girl.

Lin Lin's little face instantly turned pale. "Wh-what are you going to do?"

"Report, targets have appeared. I count eight Poochyena," Bai Yun's voice rang out. "Lin Lin, don't move yet. They don't look like they're about to attack. If you run now, you'll provoke them."

"Th-then what am I supposed to do?!" Lin Lin's legs trembled with fear. Thick saliva dripped from the corners of the Poochyena's mouths, and their vicious eyes looked as though they wanted to devour her.

Just then, a much larger Pokémon slowly emerged from behind a car parked by the roadside. It was Poochyena's evolved form, Mightyena!

"Bad news, Cheng Tian! The information was wrong! There's actually an evolved Mightyena here!" Su Han's anxious voice came through the phone.

Cheng Tian's eyes flew wide open. "Lin Lin, run!"

Whether a Poochyena pack had a Mightyena indicated whether it was strong enough. Mightyena was their leader and the center of their team, capable of directing the pack in all kinds of flanking tactics.

The Mightyena howled, and the other Poochyena howled along with it. The next moment, Mightyena led the charge straight at Lin Lin.

"Ah!" Terrified, Lin Lin turned and ran. The Poochyena pursued her relentlessly, Dark-type energy swirling around their mouths as they used Bite.

"Idiot! Throw away the Skitty tail!" Bai Yun shouted. Only then did Lin Lin realize, and she hurled the Skitty tail to one side with all her strength.

Several Poochyena were instantly drawn to the Skitty tail. Just as they were about to rush over and fight over it, their Mightyena leader suddenly let out a howl. The Poochyena immediately snapped out of it and continued chasing Lin Lin.

"Lin Lin, hang on! We're almost there! Have Pachirisu draw their attacks first!" Cheng Tian and the other two quickly moved into action, closing in from three directions.

"Waaah... hurry up, you three!" Lin Lin was so frightened she was on the verge of tears. Just then, the hood behind her stirred, and Pachirisu poked out its little head.

Seeing the pack of Poochyena chasing behind them, Pachirisu slowly extended a hand from inside the hood, then slowly raised a middle finger.

Come at me!

"Ah! Pachirisu, what are you doing?!" Good grief, that group-wide taunt instantly enraged Mightyena and the Poochyena. They all howled and rushed toward them at full speed. Lin Lin wanted to cry but had no tears left.

"Don't come any closer!!!"

"I'm here! I'm here!" Bai Yun's voice rang out through the phone as he ran over from the shopping street, with a Chimchar beside him.

"Get ready to strike! Get ready to strike!"

Just then, Mightyena howled again. Its body turned into a streak of white light as it hurtled toward Lin Lin, faint sparks flickering inside its mouth. It had used Quick Attack combined with Thunder Fang!

"Pachi!" Just as Mightyena was about to hit Lin Lin, Pachirisu jumped out of the hood and flipped Mightyena the middle finger again.

Follow Me! Then Pachirisu used Quick Attack, shooting diagonally ahead to Lin Lin's left.

Instantly enraged, Mightyena charged at Pachirisu. A green energy shield flashed around Pachirisu's body, blocking the attack.

"Chimchar, Thunder Punch!"

"Chim-char!" Chimchar leaped up, its fist covered in crackling lightning as it slammed into Mightyena's face, sending Mightyena flying to the side. Bai Yun stepped in front of Lin Lin.

"Don't be scared. I'm here."
