Cheng Tian met Manaphy while searching for Nalu, only to learn that she was the Prince of the Sea’s chosen emissary and could not leave the Temple of the Sea during an approaching calamity. Manaphy sensed the spatial power around Cheng Tian and questioned whether he belonged in this world, leaving Cheng Tian’s secret exposed.
Cheng Tian met Manaphy, who revealed that Big Red had brought him to the Temple of the Sea and that his companions were inside the Waterspout. Manaphy offered to replenish Cheng Tian’s energy with concentrated Water-type energy, but when Cheng Tian said humans could not absorb it, he convinced Manaphy to give it to Greninja instead.
Cheng Tian and Manaphy shared grilled fish and stories in the Temple of the Sea, and Manaphy decided they were friends. Manaphy then led Cheng Tian to see evidence that Kyogre once lived with his ancestors.
Cheng Tian discovered Primordial Water left behind by Kyogre’s Primal Reversion in the Temple of the Sea and considered letting Milotic absorb it. Manaphy revealed that it used the water for bathing, but Cheng Tian found another possible way to persuade it: Manaphy dreamed of hearing Meloetta sing, and Cheng Tian claimed he could help.
Cheng Tian played Meloetta’s song for Manaphy, who gave him Primordial Water and helped train his team at the Temple of the Sea. Meanwhile, Su Han visited her grandmother in Bingzhou and tested her growing Aura abilities on White Horse Mountain.
Su Han trained her Aura while A-Tian was away, then discovered a tin box of keepsakes that belonged to her mother, Huo Qian. She began reading her mother's old diary, opening a new connection to her past.
Su Han read her mother's diaries and learned about her research on Giratina, her pregnancy, and her dangerous premature delivery. The latest entries described a Giratina temple discovered in Bingzhou, leaving Su Han curious and planning to ask her father about it.
After finding her mother’s diaries, Su Han confronted Su Mulin about the truth of her death. He admitted that Giratina killed her and blamed himself for failing to protect her.
Su Mulin told Su Han how his mother, Huo Qian, vanished during an expedition into ruins and returned months later with news about Giratina. In her account, the expedition encountered Giratina in a sealed deathly realm, and she later warned that it intended to destroy the world.
Su Mulin told Su Han how Huo Qian sacrificed herself to reseal Giratina during the catastrophe in Bingzhou. After grieving with her father, Su Han decided to uncover what happened to her mother and seek answers from Giratina.
Cheng Tian and Greninja continued their month-long training against Apex Gyarados in the Temple of the Sea, mastering the Bond Phenomenon and revealing a new weapon formed from Greninja’s waist bead. The battle ended with Greninja cutting a bloody gash through Gyarados’s scales.
Cheng Tian and Greninja tested Greninja’s newly revealed katana in a fierce spar against Gyarados, while Manaphy watched over the fight. Greninja and Cheng Tian achieved the Bond Phenomenon on their own, but the effort left them exhausted, so they returned to the Temple of the Sea for food.
Milotic completed its transformation after absorbing the last of the Primordial Water, and Cheng Tian discovered that its level had risen to 42 and it had learned a nerfed version of Origin Pulse. The chapter ended with Cheng Tian stunned by the move on Milotic’s Info Panel.
Milotic learned a weakened version of Kyogre’s Origin Pulse after absorbing Primordial Water, and Cheng Tian discovered that its Kyogre-like aura made other Water-type Pokémon too intimidated to fight it. Meanwhile, Old Han and He Xisong decided to wait three more days before returning without Cheng Tian.
Cheng Tian had Greninja and Gengar spar with Milotic, whose clever tactics let it turn the fight into a painful prank on Cheng Tian. Milotic’s Origin Pulse then bypassed the Temple of the Sea’s barrier and destroyed a pillar, leaving Manaphy devastated.
Cheng Tian discovered that Milotic’s Origin Pulse could bypass ordinary Water-type defenses and learned that Manaphy had seen Mega Stones in the Temple of the Sea. The group found a Slowbro Evolution Stone embedded in the dome, leaving Cheng Tian disappointed because he had no Slowbro.
Cheng Tian learned that Manaphy had encountered only a few Mega Stones and asked it to save him a purple-and-red one if it found one. When Manaphy told him his companions were leaving, Cheng Tian agreed to stay one more day so he could see his master, Nalu, and discovered she was receiving an inheritance in a coffin-like chamber.
Manaphy explained the Sea Ancients’ legacy and revealed that six Great Calamities had devastated the world, with a seventh approaching and the ruler of the World of the Dead nearing a return. Cheng Tian learned that Nalu had been marked as the heir, while Manaphy warned him that trying to change fate could bring unbearable consequences.
Manaphy explained that the seventh calamity had been delayed, and Cheng Tian left the Temple of the Sea with Big Red after saying goodbye to his new friend. As the submarine crew feared they had returned empty-handed, Cao Min spotted Cheng Tian riding toward them.
Cheng Tian reunited with Cao Min, Rotom, He Xisong, and Old Han after spending a month at the Temple of the Sea, where he befriended Manaphy. Manaphy warned them that a worldwide calamity was approaching, while Nalu remained behind to inherit the will of the sea.
After a month of intensive training at sea, Cheng Tian returned home stronger and reunited with Su Han, who had been lonely and planning to seek clues about Giratina. The chapter ended with them embracing at his home as they looked forward to being together again.
After returning from the Temple of the Sea, Cheng Tian spent time with Su Han and agreed to travel the world with her, hoping to grow stronger before the Great Calamity. He took a temporary teaching job at Bingzhou No. 1 High School, where he revealed to his students that Su Han was his fiancée.
Cheng Tian’s first PE lesson turned into a student-forced battle against Teacher Zhou. Cheng Tian sent out Aggron, leaving both teachers to improvise as they faced off before the excited students.
Cheng Tian and Teacher Zhou staged a flashy, deliberately even battle between Aggron and Donphan to teach the class about Pokémon moves and type matchups. After Aggron pretended to be unable to battle, it sprang up to stop a confused Tauros from charging into the crowd, and the exhausted Teacher Zhou ended class.
Cheng Tian challenged the Bingzhou Dark-type Gym and defeated Gym Leader Song Yinghan with Noibat, earning the Gym’s Badge. Noibat reached level 40, and Song Yinghan suggested it might be nearing evolution, though it still needed to reach level 48.
