Poni Island was an enormous, oval-shaped island.
Canyons and beaches dotted the island, along with soothing hot springs.
It consisted largely of highlands, desert, woods, and wilderness. The terrain gradually rose from the coast toward the island's center, while a winding, treacherous Grand Canyon divided it into two regions.
Thanks to the better harbor conditions, most islanders lived on the plains toward the southwest. In contrast, dense jungle and towering highlands occupied the north!
Yong and Cynthia landed on Poni Island from that side.
"The same pristine scenery as ever. Nature's presence is so strong here!"
Cynthia loved this kind of environment. It was refreshing and freeing.
"I keep feeling that the Alola Islands aren't as dangerous as I imagined. We haven't encountered a single Ultra Beast this entire trip."
Seeing Cynthia's slightly disappointed expression, Yong couldn't help chuckling.
"There aren't many Ultra Beasts, and under normal circumstances, most appear on Ula'ula Island and Melemele Island. They'll probably be even harder to encounter here."
"Oh? Why?"
Yong pointed toward the distant highlands and explained,
"See over there? This island has an ancient altar, said to be a sacred site guarded by the Incarnation of the Sun and the Incarnation of the Moon. Of course, they're also considered the most powerful Ultra Beasts-ancient deities. That's why Ultra Beasts deliberately stay away from here. You could call this the safest of the Alola Islands."
After Yong explained the existence of Solgaleo and Lunala, as well as the war they had fought against the Island Gods in ancient times, Cynthia gained a basic understanding of the Alola Islands' history.
"In that case, the Aether Foundation's motives don't seem entirely innocent?"
That was Cynthia for you, with her keen intuition.
After recalling Swampert and Milotic, the two walked shoulder to shoulder toward the forest.
